   Why wasn't I accepted into the Apprenticeship Program?
   
   I've noticed a lot of people talking about being accepted into the program and I'm just wondering why they passed me up? I have good quality hubs and I'm so eager to learn more. Tips, anyone? Has anyone else been rejected?

   I haven't applied. One reaon is because I don't handle rejection well. The other is because I am not sure who HP is really looking for for the program. I imagine you have to excel in every area of activity on HP and since I also have a day job my time does not permit me to be involved the extent that may be required.  Plus I have other writing commitments. However, I do plan to apply when I have the time and I feel more confident.

   The last I saw about the apprenticeship program was that there was room for - like - 30 people at a time, and there was "a ton" of people applying for it.  Apparently, if things go as HP says it would like them to, the aim will be to accept many more people each time a new group starts.  (I didn't apply, and don't have plans to, for my own reasons.)

   I believe that they are only taking 30 people at a time, wait a couple months and try again. I think it's a 6month program, in the mean time just keep plugging away. I wanted to apply but I'm why too busy at work for the next few months. Good Luck!

   I too applied. I recently got an email stating that my name was still on the list and that tney would keep me updated as my application process progressed. Don't panic yet. Just give it some time. It appears that a lot of us are looking to  get into the program.

   J.S.Matthew applied and was rejected as well! As others have said, they are working with very small groups (around 30) and the program lasts for 6 months. I am not sure what criteria (if there are any) the team uses to decide who is in the program. It may even be totally random like a lottery. My advice, which I will take myself, is to reapply after 6 months of being rejected. I don't mind the wait and I am used to rejection! I wrote down my next eligibility (to apply) date and I will continue to reapply until I either get accepted or they terminate the program. No worries here... Hope this helps...

   So many people applied for the Apprenticeship program, the waiting list is now something like two years long.  HubPages just seriously underestimated the interest and the capacity they can handle.

   You have to also remember craftybird, that they are looking not just for your content on Hubpages but also a portfolio of online content. They want consistency before accepting applications. I also think since the Program is in its beginning stages and based on what I have been gathering these 'first' few will also need to serve as much needed mentors.
   
   I'm thinking as opposed to focusing on reapplying it would be wiser to focus on building your online writing skills and developing that portfolio first. Hopefully in time as they begin to gather the folks they want to continue the 'baton' in the program, it will be easier to be accepted.
   
   What I hope 'doesn't' happen is that they lower the amount paid per hub. $6 is awesome!

   That is a great hub - it would probably qualify as a great hub while in the program. I don't know the criteria, but I know the program. Write more like that, you might get accepted. Also I noticed your commenting is only at level 1 after a year @ HubPages. I was at level 3 within a few months. One of their requirements is that you partake in the private forums, and interact with the others in your group. Seeing little social activity is *probably* the main reason you got turned down, if I were to hazard a guess. Answer/ask more questions, talk in the forums, and comment on other hubs more often. I'll bet that'd change it.
   
   As for an online portfolio...I had literally nothing but hubs (one hubnugget) online when I got invited. I've since started a blog of my own outside HP, but that's brand new....so it has nothing to do with portfolio.
