   I don't know. I once had a dream that I was being chased around the Starship Enterprise by a flying pen trying to ink blot me. What does that mean?

   I can most often easily trace where dream images/events come from, and if it doesn't seem really obvious to me then a little bit of thinking back generally lets me figure it out.
   
   I don't know about other people's dreams, but my own aren't at all mysterious.  They're usually pretty much a matter of "the week in review", with any number of things that had some (even minor) impact on my thoughts when I ran into them.  Then, though, it's like all those recent "thought-impacting" things get all mixed up and come out as the images to whatever story is in the dream.  Sometimes the story in the dream (or whatever version of "story" any dream has) is also something that was (sometimes) a fleeting concern or thought that occurred to me recently.  Once in awhile, though, I can tell that the story is more about things that have bothered me in my life on a more long-term basis.
   
   Here's the kind of thing it might be if I were the one who had the leopard/window dream:  Maybe I'd seen a cologne add with a leopard in it (online).  Maybe I didn't think I thought anything about it.  Then, maybe, I talked to the cat next door a few days ago and noticed that he moves like a bigger cat (and maybe I didn't even really think about it). 
   
   Then, maybe, I had been thinking about opening my windows for Spring, which would make me recall hearing coyotes last Fall and make my mind briefly go to the idea that there are wild animals that come through the yard.  (Actually, after seeing a coyote in my yard for the first time I did wonder if, when my daughter's cat sat in the screened window, a coyote may want to get to the cat badly enough to try jumping in through the screen).
   
   So anyway, if I had that kind of leopard/window dream it would mostly likely come from that kind of "collection" of images/thoughts that had (even briefly) had some impact on my thoughts over the course of recent days.
   
   For me, things I've seen and noted, comments I've made or others have made, fleeting thoughts that have occurred to (or worried) me, images or words I've seen online or on television.  Maybe it's even some little thing I noticed that made me temporarily think of something else after being reminded of it.
   
   I know there are people who would disagree with me about dream images/stories not meaning more, or meaning something universal, for everyone; but, boy, I know my own dreams and how/why things make their way into them.  Maybe everyone's different, but I'd bet the leopard dream could be tracked.

      You could be right. I feel that most dream symbols have personal meaning to the dreamer. Unfortunately, this leopard dream has me puzzled. I do not know what the symbolism is of a leopard. Very strange.

      The video was good. Great introduction to dreams and the brain. I knew this and have interpreted dreams for years. Had a book by Carl Jung and dream symbols. Helpful. Just can't find a connection to the Leopard and my life experiences.  Thank you.

   Most symbols have both a general meaning and a specific to the dreamer meaning--so your own input is a valuable part of the process.  Leopard is a powerful person for force--often time a leader or person/spirit of command or authority.  The question is--is it positive or negative?  You have to ask yourself what kind of feeling did you have in the dream...did you get the sense that the leopard was a threat or did you feel safe?  Did the dream have an overall negative feeling or positive?  Which window was the leopard looking through?  Were you in your bedroom?  The room you were in can have a symbol too.  If you were in the kitchen, for example, this is often a place where nourishing, relationship, conversation takes place etc. but if its your study or bedroom can have a different connotation.  The fact that the leopard was outside of the house and not in means there is a boundary in place--but a window with a screen could be a kind of flimsy boundary.  If you give some more details on the dream I might be able to help you with some more insight on meaning.  I actually have a hub on how to interpret dreams--you might want to check it out!  http://seek-n-find.hubpages.com/hub/A-D … ation-Tool

      I believe God gives us prophetic dreams. I have had many for most of my life. This leopard dream has puzzled me a long time. I believe the screen window represents a boundary. You are right.

   Often times dreams are the brain's way of simplifying and putting our feelings about something into a format that is more comprehensible, like symbols and words that already have an attached meaning to them (that our personal brain understands). My immediate interpretation to your dream leads me to ask "Do you feel threatened or vulnerable in some area of your life right now?". This is how those subconscious feelings are presenting them to you. If you can't figure out where that might be, then it may be just a combined mental picture of some random events that happened earlier in your day or week.

      Thanks kaloomba. I have had several deaths in my family during the past 3 years  and another loss 2 weeks ago. Today I lost a good friend. I guess my time of life combined with the losses could bring about such a dream.

   It means that that there should have been bars on the window instead of a screen. Screens keep out insects, not leopards.
