   While I may not like President Obama, I think it's rude and obnoxious to resort to such name-calling. Yes, I believe in freedom of speech, but this is ridiculous. How much you want to bet if the President said the same thing about Ted Nugent, Nugent would be trying to sue?

   It's over the top saying that to anyone, doesn't really matter whether it's the President or not. You do however have to consider the source. Does anyone really care about Ted Nugent's opinion? He probably said it just to get publicity.

   Freedom of speech is wonderful.  Unfortunately, it also allows people to show an absence of character, as is the case with Mr. Nugent.  Personally, I could care less what he thinks or says…his speech is tantamount to rude noise and is not newsworthy.

      What I meant about the “not newsworthy” is that Nugent’s comment is garbage and should be treated as such.  That fact that it’s news is bothersome as it gives him the attention he seeks.

   It's okay in that it is a free country and you can say what you want. It isn't okay if leaving the kids' table is something he ever wants to do. Joining adulthood requires putting on big boy pants and unfortunately I think it is too late for Mr. Nugent to ever achieve such faculty.
   
   Personally I don't mind him saying it. To me, such uncouth utterances are akin to holding up a giant sign saying, "I have nothing interesting, useful, or intelligent to say, so don't waste any time on me." I value my time so am always appreciative of such signage.
   
   The bigger problem is that he represents, unfortunately, the juvenility of far too many people in this country. It is unfortunate in a broad sense, because conservatives could (and should) have important contributions to make. There are all sorts of legitimate criticisms to be levied against Obama, just as there are legitimate concerns about the size, scope, and role of government, but we don't get any such cogent narrative from the GOP, instead we get name-calling, invent-a-scandals, and daily beatdowns of the make-believe socialist, Muslim, Kenyan, antichrist, lizard-person Obama who exists only in their imaginations.
   
   It is a tragedy really, and I can only hope someone in the GOP eventually retakes the adult table and puts the kids back in their place, but I don't really see it happening. I suspect 2016 will roll around and the GOP will still be grilling Clinton about the Benghazi scandal that has never existed while she coasts to an easy victory and conservatives will keep on lamenting that liberals simply refuse to see the truth (of course, 'truth' being an imagined truth that has no actual objective evidence).

   Of course it was over the top.  And he has drawn harsh critique from both sides of the political isle.  If you disagree with him on policy than state it. If you dislike him personally, than that is ok to.  But those comments are not necessary.  Unfortunately, it wasn't the first and it won't be the last. Years ago Jesse Jackson called NY "Himey town".  Justice Clarence Thomas was called and "Uncle Tom" recently. Personal attacks come from people on both sides of the political isle.  Abraham Lincoln was called things that would make today's political talk look like softball. It will never go away.

      That depends on the media source.  But either way, when guys like Nugent say stupid stuff it undermines the true message of the Tea Party, which is limited gov't.  People start focusing on the wrong thing.

   Of course its over the top, thoughtless and disrespectful but i'm quite sure he's not a racist. I think he's just very opposed to the presidents agenda as he believes its destroying freedom,morals and prosperity in  America and I agree with him on these points.

    No, this is not okay.  No matter how much you disagree with the president's policies, you should extend him the respect he has earned.  It is no easy task to become president of these great United States, and the man deserves respect.
