  I honestly can't hold it against him for not going on FOX right now.
  
  Remember the White House being pissed off last year for alleged 'editing' of Bush's MSNBC interview?
  
  I'm sure this administration is worried about that happening on FOX.
  
  Either way, Obama isn't currently a lame duck; he has to worry about his ratings, just like any President serving his first term. Obviously, FOX isn't going to help him right now. 6 or 7 years from now, he might possibly go on. Until then, I wouldn't hold my breath.
  
  To me, not a big deal - it's understandable.

  What could he gain from appearing on a clearly biased and before an audience who never did or will accept him. It wasn't this group that formed his base and it did everything it could to assure he would not be elected.
  
  If it is because he will not go into the lion's den for fear of being torn to shreds who would? The topics to discuss would be the typical propaganda they have been espousing since he was elected ie. birth certificates, death panels etc. What a waste of time it would be and what a childish game to play. This is not a game people and we are running out of time to participate in it. We have real issues before us and the more we are hung up on dribble the less is getting done to acheive those goals.

  I am a Centrist, according to tests. Many that discount FOX have never watched it. Most say horrible things about FOX saying; "The people I know would never watch them, they aren't a true news station."
  
  They are by far the most watched news station on cable. You can add MSNBC, CNN, and all other's. FOX beats them all, combined. The people know where to get their information now.
  
  They now beat Katie Courik on CBS but they aren't for real. And yes, OBAMA does lie!

  The answer to this one is easy, because FOX feeds people nonsense. Their news information has proved to be inaccurate in the past. The FOX network is great for entertainment, but they're simply known for being good news-source. If you want more credible news try CNN or BBC. "Hell, you can even find more accurate news on Comedy Central." But if you want Scrubs or the Simpsons, watch FOX.

Fox is pretty bad, and I have watched them. I am talking about Fox News - not the local affiliates. I actually like my local Fox news.
However, the programs on the Fox News network are incendiary and are certainly biased. I agree that bias exist elsewhere, too, but to say that it doesn't exist on Fox...I dunno.

My hubby, who has been a lifelong conservative, used to roll his eyes when I'd make comments about Fox. Lately, he finally watched Hannity and Beck. He shushed me so I wouldn't interject my snarky comments and he could hear it all and assess it in his own way. (He's highly analytical and precise with everything). Anyhoo- he ended up with the conclusion that they were not only biased but they were not presenting a full set of facts on the given topics of discussion.

I won't go in to detail, citing each point that led him to concur w/ me that they are more hype than 'news source' (again, I must reiterate that there is bias elsewhere lest someone think I'm unaware of this). I don't want to make this any longer than I already have...sorry guys, just my (and now the hard-core logic-loving hubby's) two cents.

The funny thing about aligning yourself with either a party or group is that the argument is very short. You save a lot of time bemoaning the facts and just put it out there.   Your argument is out of context to the argument. You are stating a fact rather than an opinion. If I stated I wanted to enslave you there would no doubt as to my intentions. The Obama administration was just miffed that Fox decided not to run Obama's health care speech on their network station even though they carried it on their news channel. If you ask me the Obama administration is just acting childishly, and spokesman Gibbs has done so before with some of his comments. like maybe Fox would rather play dancing with the stars.

  It's incredibly childish. Obama is the poster child for cultural warfare and this impetuous decision only perpetuates his image. He has attacked Wall Street CEOs, Boston police, retirement fund managers, "the rich", insurance companies, pediatricians, talk show hosts, and who knows what he says to his inner circle during private meetings.
  
  He needs to grow a skin. Evidently he has had it pretty easy for his adult life because he has no idea how to work and play with others.

This is what a two party system gives you. The choices are far from savory but we the American People continue to participate and bellyache about the fruit of our labors. My father always said "We have the best government money can buy" How could anybody think that the band of robbers and thieves on the hill can come up with or want to come up with a plan that looks out for us.

Oh, I don't see it as a conspiracy, I see it taking place outright. Anytime there is a concerted effort on the part of a govt to restrict free market checks and balances what historically follows is less personal freedom. That is happening now in the form of healthcare.

For example, regulations put in place by the democrats, which Obama is not removing, restrict insurers from offering their products across state lines. So if I've had insurance in CA for 20 years, and now I'm moving to Alabama, I can't take that insurance with me. I now have to apply for new insurance as a person 20 years older. I may have a condition that was covered under my previous insurance but isn't now because pre-existing conditions are not covered. Plus, I may lose my good rate because I no longer have an insurance "history".

So the insurance companies in AL don't have to compete with those in CA and as a result can charge anything they want or not cover me at all. As a citizen, my freedom to obtain healthcare insurance is artificially restricted by the govt. It endangers my health and raises my costs.

A simple solution to a big part of the problem of healthcare is to remove those regulations and let the free market compete to get my business. If Harry offers insurance in a way I don't like but Joe across the street does that makes Joe's product better and Harry better shape up or go out of business. That will happen to insurers if the govt backs off.

You assume that there is a free market in place that will self govern by way of commerce. The fact of the matter remains that this kind of coverage was set up to fleece us a long time ago. The insurance companies bought and paid for this system going back to Nixon and beyond. I don't know to what extent this has a hold on Obama but the groundrules have been in place a very long time. Instead of focusing on one person to change "Obamas Conspiracy" maybe we should concentrate on the paid slime on both sides of the isle to change it. Let's revamp the system rather than getting rid of one person who can be made irrelevent through a sound congress.

  My point exactly. This free market system is not allowed to. How many swetheart deals and no bid contracts are constantly beind awarded? The system is set up to allow only the paid freedom of market exchange. I agree that a totally free market system will adjust to whatever crisis occurs but there are too many actors waiting in the wings to take advantage of favor bought before hand. How do you suggest we make it a truly "free" market system.

  I think that we have proved that even though we came to a conclusion from opposite ends of the argument we indeed came to a conclusion.
  
  I would propose that we all put away preconceptions and look for answers within ourselves. I still believe in "We The People" and have a system by which we can resolve hard problems for the betterment for us. We have to overturn congress and make policy that they cannot pervert to their means. Us talking this out will make the difference and talking to each other is what the slime on the hill fears the most.
  
  While we don't all believe Obama was the answer enough people threw what they had at the situation and this is what we have.

The fact that television news shows don't report the news but instead feed us homogenized or sensationalized inuendo is nothing new. I don't know how many times I have heard from a reporter "and this means" as a prelude to a fact being stated. So many Americans are stupified by these ratings driven shows and put a great deal of stock in what they (the networks) report as news.

We have a wonderful outlet available to us and that is the internet. You can at the touch of a button explore and investigate a topic and find out for yourself the truth you seek.

Fair and balanced is a great slogan. But because that is the opinion offered is it correct?

I know some people have concerns about this course of action, and I'm willing to listen to any and all suggestions, but at the end of the day it's important that we move forward and putting this in there is the only way to overcome the same old stagnation that has prevented real progress in this area for so long.
