   Have you written a book and failed at promoting it?
   
   Publishing a book is all nice but when it comes to actually getting your word out there that can be a problem. How would you promote your newly published book?

   Very interesting question Devika, I published a book of poetry in 1981 called, LOVE IS OUR LAW. It received great reviews in my city of Chicago. I got tv and newspaper promos. I was even asked to appear on a radio show but I turned it down. I should have gone for it. So I failed to give it a full promotion. However though, I use it as a constant guide for myself. I hope to republish it someday. Thanks for the question.

      I just wanted to comment so people understand how impressive this is. In 1981 you didn't just publish your own book and call yourself a published author, an editor had to select it from thousands to tens of thousands sent them that year.

   I'm promoting my sci-fi novel by letting people read a censored version of it in serialized format on HubPages.  It will not be available to buy until late January or early February because I wish to put the publication date in 2015 and I want to build interest and a readership so the demand exists before it can be bought.  I have the first four chapters up as individual hubs.
   
   I have a sixty-three step plan but I think the serialization is the most important part.  Other stuff includes running contests involving the cover art and interior illustrations, giving copies of Gruldak to people who will write reviews, building a sci-fi loving Twitter following, and all the usual things like that.

      My problem in book promotion  where I live English is not the first language and mostly online promotion works  better for me. What do you suggest I do? Thank you.

   I have been trying to write a book, But, I am unable to complete the task, due to some reasons. But, It is not an easy task to write a book, and its even tough, to promote it. Attract as many people, as you can, by sharing your book in different websites, which consists of higher traffic. This is enable users, who have interest in reading books.

      Make use of social network websites, to promote your book. In the beginning, it may be a hard task to start. But, start working hard, to make of web traffic.

   I have not published my book as yet, but have been doing much research for a few years as to how to sell a book. I discovered that regardless of whether you obtain a traditional publisher or wish to sell on the Internet or use a vanity press it all comes down to the author to promote the book yourself. I have been trying to improve my marketing skills through the years in order to be able to promote my book when ready. Regardless of whether you publish an Ebook or a traditional book have a plan before, during, and after to promote your book.
   
   I remember submitting a book for publication and by the time I had filled out all of the paperwork which the publisher had sent me I felt that I could sell the book myself.
   
   One also has to learn all the ins and outs in order to select a legitimate source, have an attorney, and arrange for all text and photos to be copyrighted. It is not enough to be an author, you also have to know advertising, marketing, and basic business principles.
   
   I have published a dance video and had to do many of these things.

      Promotion is the toughest  and it is even tougher in my case. English is not the first language here and that is my main barrier. What  esle do you have in mind? Thank you.
