   Did you opt in or out of Hub Pro?
   
   Hub Pro is HubPages efforts to edit our hubs and bring up the quality of the whole site.  I chose to allow my hubs to be edited.  I'm not saying that is what anyone else should do or that I did the right thing.  I just wanted to make an observation about the edits done to my hubs.
   
   All 154 of my hubs are featured and 67 have been edited by Hub Pro. The majority of edits were in the comments.  For each edit to my article, there were five in the comments, a 5 to 1 ratio. Is editing comments a good strategy to improve the quality of HP?  Mandatory comment editing with  Optional hub editing?

   I did not opt in or out. It edited them anyway. I had one edit in a hub. The rest were in the comments. I really do not think they should be editing comments.It should stick to the hub itself.

   Hi Chris,
   I chose to opt out because I feel that editing is my responsibility, and I didn't want someone else to makes changes to my work. Now with editbot  we see corrections anyway. Most are in the comments although a few are alternate spellings of words like nighttime. ( I use night time or night-time.)
   No, I think editing comments is a poor idea. Comments are direct quotes from people. Editing should concern the body of the hub only.

   The "Hub-Bot" correction/spell checker thingy (which is what everyone here seems to be referring to) is an automated process, and there is no opt-in or opt-out. Hub-PRO is where an actual human being edits your hub(s) and can make changes to them.
   
   If the Hub-Bot wants go thru my Hubs and fix typos, that's one thing, but I opted out of the Hub Pro service because I like my Hubs the way they are and I don't want anybody messing with them but me.

      Keith, thanks for clarifying the difference between Hub Pro and Hub-Bot.  I wasn't aware of Hub-Bot until the icon showed up on my statistics page.  I just assumed it was part of Hub Pro.

      I think technically it *IS* part of Hub Pro, but it's "Hub Pro Basic" - which is meant to perform very low level, minor corrections.
      The full-monty Hub Pro is when a real person goes into your Hub, moves stuff around and/or adds/removes things.

   I can't edit the original question, so I'll state the correction here.  Keith Abt has clarified the difference between Hub Pro and Hub-Bot/Edit-Bot.   We can't opt out of Edit-Bot which is what I mistook as Hub-Pro. 
   
   Anyway, I suppose we can continue the discussion about mandatory vs optional editing of our hubs by bots or people.  But the original question is a bit flawed.  Thanks for the clarification, Keith.

   I think the edit bot is a bit annoying.  Why do I need to spend my time editing errors in comments?  I'm with you, does this make the hub better?

   I opted "in" for Hub Pro but doubt any of my hub will be selected (they haven't yet). Editbot on the other hand has run rampant through around half my hubs (about 100). I'm not overly concerned because most edits seem to be in the comments. Some people seem to think having the editbot icon on their hubs means they have to edit the words/phrases suggested. They don't seem to realise it has already been done automatically by editbot. You only have to do anything if you don't agree with the change and want it to revert back.

   The recent edits done with the symbol of Editbot is not Hubpro. It is a separate tool freshly introduced as far as I think.
   I am out of Hubpro.

    I opted out. I don't want my work messed with. However, now we have HubPro Basic, which we have no choice over. It's pretty harmless, tho. It just corrects spelling and grammatical errors, not content, layout, photos, etc.
    
    All of the corrections made to my hubs by the bots were in the comments section. Guess it's imperative to proof our comments before we hit the submit button. I really don't think comments have anything to do with Google ranking, though. It's titles and content that Google trolls.

    I've just started looking at the bot fixes. I didn't check the comments but the fixes to my posts are mostly changing Canadian spelling. I'm not keen on that but I know some sites will only accept US spelling. This was a reason I left some sites in the past. For one thing, I don't remember all the US spellings.
