Amazon earnings rate % only half what it used to be

   A few weeks ago my earning percentage dropped from about 10% to about 5%. Is it just me?

      Earnings are now shown 60/40 in your favour. It confused me for a while too.

      I understand your concern, but everybody here already explained what's going on.  For my part, I'm just glad that we get earnings from Amazon.  It takes very little work to add an Amazon capsule, and sometimes the payout can be quite good...all because I took  a minute or two to do a bit of work.  i think the whole thing is a pretty good deal!

   The Amazon Sales Report is easy to follow, though it is a little different than what was explained in the announcement.
   
   However, the Amazon earnings report (filtered through the earnings report) is very confusing, and it does make it look like we are only getting half the %.
   
   I have done excessive, neurotic calculations that seem to indicate everything is as it should be. But, it would be great if HP could fix up that one earnings report so it reflects similar numbers as the sale report.

   If I am correct Bev and Eric didn't really address your concern as they responded wrt. the new way HP splits our income.
   
   In general, the percentage is around 8% and sometimes it does go up to 10%. But there are a few categories that are capped at 4% and some at 5%, some even at 2%. So if you sold a product in one of these categories you will not earn 8 or 10%, but just the max of 5% as in your case. Home appliances, for instance, are capped at 4%, that's what I got today on a sale, but garden products still hover between 8 and 10%.

      Right I already had that part figured out!
      
      I have been aware of the difference in product categories for awhile, and I have products in several widely-ranging categories. What I'm seeing is a global drop in affiliate earning % over time -- which as far as I can tell isn't a function of the new way HP reports earnings.
      
      Thanks for all the suggestions, though -- maybe the reason is in here somewhere!

         I am confused too.
         After the change, it seems that more products are selling, but even with the lower percentage, my monthly earnings are pretty much the same as before.
         
         Example:  For the same brush set of $34 before I was getting $3.40, now I get $2.04.
         
         Does it mean that before 40% of sales were not shown in the report?

            You weren't getting anything for the 40% of sales that HubPages earned commission on. Those sales weren't previously shown in the report. The reason more products seem to be selling is because all sales are now shown, plus there may be seasonal increase in sales.

   On the Amazon program summary page, shipped earnings refers to the total earnings i.e ours and Hubpages, which is typically 8% of shipped items revenue. The earnings column shows our earnings which are 60% of 8% or 4.8%.
   So basically we used to get 8% commission, 60% of the time ads were shown. Now we're getting 4.8% commission, 100 % of the time.
   That's how I understand it anyway.

   As theraggededge said this was related to the Amazon Program update (https://hubpages.com/community/forum/33 … ram-update). Instead of earning a commission on 60% of sales you now earn a commission all sales but only on your 60% share. The earning report has been updated to reflect your commission rate on your 60% share of the total sales. Thank you for reporting this issue.

      Tim, I have tried elsewhere on the forums without success to have an important query addressed re the 10% Amazon income from Hub Pages referrals. I saw in the original post that this practice will continue but can see no evidence (now passed month end) of my earnings of this type since July 9th. Can you clarify for me please as I am growing a little concerned? Thanks very much in advance for any help you can give me.

            Hi Gordon, this has been resolved. Amazon affiliate earnings were not being properly assigned. Earnings back to 7/13 when we switched over to the new system have been corrected. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention and let me know if you have any questions.

         I don't know. For some reason, the total revenue in Amazon Sales Reports doesn't tally with Shipped Items Revenue in Amazon Earnings Reports for that day. It does for other days though.

   LOL  Days after this came out I finally noticed the phrase "Reflects sales on your share of impressions only." at the top of the amazon sales report.  Might want to take a look at changing that!

      Yep, that's why I asked my stupid question last week... "Do we get all the revenue shown?" or words to that effect. I was confused by that.
