Thanks for sharing Rosina's story, Pamela. When I was in grade school we stayed glued to the radio hoping for snow days. It was always a thrill when it was announced that schools were closed due to the snow. Great memories!

Sorry you had find out the hard way, Rosina!

Thank you Pamela for sharing Rosinas‘ story. It reminded me of my first snow here in Germany in the 80‘s.

I can relate to your snow story Rosina.

I am glad, Thelma, my write-up reminded you of your first snow in Germany. I have been been to Germany for MS in Software Technology in 2003 and had experienced snow there as well prior to US. I am happy you can relate to my snow story. I truly appreciate your comments. Thank you!

I enjoyed reading about the snow day lesson you learned in college, Rosina. It all worked out well for you that day.

    Good morning, surovi99,
I was moved by the touching story, and I understand what it's like to be a younger sister. I live in Florida, so I cannot relate to the feeling of walking in the snow.

You sound like any employer would have a great asset in hiring you because of your kind and understanding heart, which appears in your writing.

Have a great December and keep writing.

    Your Hub friend,
    Bobbi Purvis.

Thank you, Bobbi, for your generous comment. But actually, I am the eldest in my family, and my younger sisters settled in the US long time back. I took help from them when I needed and when I went there for higher education at a later time.

Yes, it was critical for me balancing on the snow that very day, but now that I know schools have the possibility to be closed on snow days, I will never make that mistake again.

I really thank you for stopping by and do appreciate your comments.

    Hello Rosina!
Good to read about your experience on a snow day. There are issues, when the weather is like the one, mentioned in your story.
I love snow falls, but yet to experience it. Have been to many Indian hill stations in northern India, where there is plenty of snowfall, but not in the colder seasons.
Thank you for sharing your personal story, which I enjoyed reading.
Thank you Pamela for sharing this in the forum.

I am glad to hear about your snowfall experiences in Indian hill stations. I am sure you will get to experience it in the western world too during the winter season. You have to plan a trip there.

I am pleased you enjoyed my experience on a snow day. I really appreciate your comments. Thank you, Chitrangada.

I remember when I experienced my first snow day when I came to Canada. It was great to miss a day of high school! Rosina's experience sounds great as well, though I was sorry for her when she described her falls. Snow is attractive, but it can cause problems as well.

    Rosina,
Too bad no one alerted you beforehand about the campus closing on those bad weather days.
Trying to walk in snow is dangerous.
    Sneakers usually don't work.

We have to have to have the right kind of soles on the bottom of our shoes...usually we wear boots, but it's the bottoms one has to pay attention too.

Nothing too smooth...it has to be able to grip as one walks.

But as you found out, snow is a bit slippery.

At least you made it back safely and was able to enjoy your time at home.
It is a time that can make you feel quite alone, so keeping busy is the key.

I love watching the snow falling at nighttime.   It glistens...it's magical...it's beautiful.

At nighttime, when there is snow covering the ground...everything seems brighter.  It's not as dark outside.
It's like the snow brightens up the path.

As for your studies, you're never too old to finish.

It's always nice to read a true story.   Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much, Brenda for your detailed and constructive comments. Yes, I came to realize later that I should wear boots with good spikes on the bottom to walk over snow. And I also became aware of the university being closed on snow days or bad weather. While studying abroad, yes one gets to feel alone and keeping busy is the key. I like your perception of snow at night. I am so delighted you liked my write-up. I really appreciate it. Gratitude once more.

        Rosina...
We don't really have spikes on our shoes...just no flat surfaces on the bottom.

The better the Grove on the bottom....the better you are at walking

It's still a chance you might fall.

Snow is beautiful...but it can be dangerous.

I'm glad you got to see it from the inside with all its beauty.

Pamela, thank you for sharing Rosina's story. Rosina, thank you for sharing your snow day experience. It was an interesting read! It is always smart to exercise caution when it is snowing. I love snow; I've fallen and slipped on it several times in my life, and I know it hurts terribly, but I still love it! smile
Take care and keep smiling. Have a wonderful weekend!
Much love and Blessings to both of you!

      Love your response!

      All the best and blessings!
