I have just recently have tried to join up with Amazon.com and was denied because I do not have my own web site (yet). This maid wonder how many “hubbers” actually have there own web sites and do I really need my own site to use Amazon.com or have I misunderstood how to sign up with Amazon.com? How do others writers on the HubPages use Amazon.com with out a site? Thank you for your feedback for sometimes I can get confused on the best way to do things here, even after I read all the great hubs on how to use all the different tools. Thanks again! smile

I have 2 websites - one has Amazon products but I didn't put them on the website until a few weeks after I'd signed up with Amazon on HP.  I'm sure your HP Profile link is enough for them to accept you.

      These instructions should help:

I've had my own website for eleven years now.  I joined the Amazon affiliate program before Google even existed.

I have Amazon affiliate on <URL snipped> and no problems with signing up once I jumped through their hoops. I have to admit, I have not tried implementing Amazon affiliate on Hubpages yet though.

many of us are still learning.
I've had my own web site before HP, but I do not any ads on it, at this time. I do have amazon on my hubs, but am not sure I'm getting clicks.

how do we know if anyone has clicked on an amazon ad?

You go check your stats over at the Amazon site.

hmmm, I guess there is nothing to check, no clicks. I thought it might show clicks but no sales? am I missing something? or just not getting any clicks at all?

Currently I don't have my own website, but I have a blog. I applied for Amazon was back when I did have one. I think I even managed to get accepted to Amazon when I had a Geocities website. I think it was before Google too smile

I have a website, not very active, and not sure Amazon knows about it.  I applied to Amazon a couple days ago, going through the link and following the instructions from HubPages. Go to my account, affiliate settings, click on 'edit' by Amazon.  THere is a link for instructions and screen shots, and an application link.

I have multiple websites as well as some free blogger blogs I use for backlinks to hubs and websites.

I just applied for Amazon when I started with HubPages, but I believe I gave them the URL to my profile as instructed on this page: http://hubpages.com/help/AmazonAssociates.
    It was hassle-free.

I don't have a website, but I sell my own book through Amazon Advantage. I don't recall having any any trouble signing up as an afilliate.

I do, but I don't do much with Amazon.  I tested Amazon on a lot of pages and it just wasn't working for me, so I had a choice of making it work and finding out why it was unsuccessful, or binning it for ease.

    So I binned it.

Amazon works well for some sites, not for others.  Mine isn't the sort it works well with, so I prefer to either have white space or fill it with something that works.

I have a website, but what does that have to do with being an Amazon affiliate? I use my website to promote my books and photograph.
