Made my first $100!!!

No, I haven't yet made my AdSense payout (though I'm getting there), but I've had a really good Amazon month, so between the two of them, I've finally reached triple digits in sales!

It's not enough to live on -- yet -- but for me, $100 is a big milestone, especially since I've earned more than half of it in the last month. It means that my hard work is paying off, people are reading my Hubs and most importantly, I'm beginning to believe that I can actually make it as a freelance writer. And $100 can go pretty far: it's the cost of a nice dinner for two, a one-night stay at a moderate hotel, a nice outfit or even a plane ticket, if you get a good deal. When I think of it in those terms, it makes me very happy!

So for those of you who are still fairly new like me, don't give up. It takes a LOT of work and patience, and learning about keywords and SEO, but it is possible to earn on here if you're willing to put in the time.

It is great to see your diligent effort pay off. I'm sure that this is the first of many great months for you. And I love your attitude about $100 - it can indeed buy lots of things.

More importantly now you really believe that it's possible to make money online. I think that that in itself is an important milestone. You'll work even harder because you know it will pay off.

Congratulations.  You're right - a lot of people just starting out wonder if anyone can ever really earn more than pennies.  It's good that people post and let them know they can.

I think the key to my success is experimenting with SEO and keywords ... but what's really worked for me is writing detailed and (I hope) interesting pieces about things I know. I've had surprising successes on Hubs that would seem to be non-commercial, but managed to somehow draw an audience. And then I've had little success on Hubs that use high-paying keywords and topics. So it's been about finding what works for me.
