So many people struggle with allergies and flowers are definitely not a gift option - any suggestions?
Books, letter paper (if they write letters), beautiful pens, bookmarks, handmade (nonallergenic) soap, bath salts, scarves for women, live herbs, gift cards, certificates for classes (yoga, music), symphony tickets, a session with a portrait photographer, maid service, spa day, take the car to be washed and detailed, or just spend time telling (and showing) the person how much you appreciate him or her.
windchimes are always a fun thing to have.
another idea; i gave my son's girlfriend a rainbow suncatcher. it is a rotating plexiglass disc with little crystals hanging from it and it attaches to the window and when the sun hits the window it casts rainbows all over the room. she loves it.
If you'd really like to get flowers then you could always buy fake flowers - they'll last forever and brighten up anyone's day regardless. You can get some really impressive fake ones these days!
Ribbons Gift of Choice...love them love them love them!!!!
Easy! Fake flowers! I know they seem tacky, but nowadays there are some really beautiful ones out there now.
Live plants, that don't flower.
Candy.
Jewelry -- I think this one can be iffy if the relationship is not too serious.
Gift certificate.
A massage.
Something fun, that you really like would probably do as well as flowers would, or if she collects something, add to the collection. It shows you know her.
HoW about a "gift basket"--- or even better, just spending some time together. Sorry-- I got the first idea from your name posted a few minutes ago.
Just today I identified as allergic to pollen, and my wife and two daughters started on a course of anti-biotics to beat a respiratory infection.
Could it be mould or something?
Or is it just Fall-Flowering roadside weeds?
Gift baskets are a great gift for people who don't like flowers or are allergic. You can find so many different types.
i have bad allergies and my boyfriend didnt want to aggravate them so for valentines day he got me silk flowers .. i thought it was sweet and considerate
There are lots of hubs with gift ideas on HubPages - flowers are a possibility but for someone with allergies there are books, jewellery, craft items, silk scarves, photos - the possibilities are endless.
I have a two hubs, one with gift ideas for women and one with gift ideas for men.
A pair of sunglasses to hide your eyes when hayfever strikes might be good - and a box of tissues. When I get it bad I just feel like hiding.
I really like your name. sorry its off topic but I wanted to say it for a while. I am always writing seven as 7even and five as 5ive, by accident. I was thrown out of a speling bee for spelling "queen" as 'kwee'-e-e-n
Thanks Justine - it was just the word play side of me that came up with that, I like words with two meanings. I've used 2uesday for a while now and feel comfortable with it. Nice to speak to you, I am off now - it is late here and I have potatoes to plant tomorrow - really. : )
Edible arrangements (made from fresh fruit and cut to resemble a flower basket...the actual name of the company is Edible Arrangements)
Universal charge station (for iPods, phones, cameras, etc.)
Crystal sun catcher (crystal will produce tens to hundred of small rainbows depending on the cut and colorization of the crystal - generally cut like a large pendant with many facets to catch the light)
Bird feeding center (make it squirrel and cat proof with accessories)
Hummingbird feeding station (great to watch; they have one that sticks to the window so you can watch them up close and personal)
Silk screen embroidery (the screen is made of fine silk and the emboroidered picture is also of silk; you can find these in fine Asian speciality art shops) (many of the screens are of animals and look 3D; also, they are embroidered by hand)
one of my favorite gift baskets I received from a parent was a spring green planting basket filled with seeds, garden gloves, small garden tools, clay markers for the seeds. hand lotion and sunscreen.. it was so thoughtful and the basket was beautiful.
How about a great bottle of wine with a personalized wine label? You can find really great labels at www.personalizedwinelabelsetc.com and they are only aroun $6-7 a label.
donation to their favorite charity if they have one or if they are spiritual - donation that is relevant.
Apologize for digressing from the subject here, but do those of you who have allergies to flowers faint at the scent of them? I knew of a girl back in college who fainted the moment she came anywhere near flowers.
Just struck me as something very odd and unique at the time. Just curious if this is something that others (who have allergies to flowers) have experienced as well?
