From mid-December 2014 to mid-March 2015, I made minor changes to the type of foods I ate and ONLY sprinted up 4 flights of stairs and walked back down 1 time 3-8 times daily and lost 23 pounds. Little consistent workouts are easier to maintain than big workouts 3-4 times a week. The key is to increase your activity and get moving. Elevate your heart rate in short intervals throughout the day. Every little bit that you do daily is a step in the right direction. I've kept off the weight and keep losing. I even decreased my A1C number and if it's still below diabetic levels I will no longer be diabetic and will be off of Metformin. My doctor decreased my daily dosage by 50% in March. I think what you do with your 20 minutes is much more important than how long the workout lasts. It also depends on your goals. For example, if you're trying to get lean, HIIT will be a much more efficient use of time than walking or jogging. If you're trying to be more flexible, a warm-up and plenty of stretching is a better use of your time. I do think that a balance between the different aspects of fitness is important.

If you can create and maintain a very intense and challenging workout that leaves you sore after those 20 minutes then you may have found your key to success. But since 20 minutes is a short amount of time you will be limited to what you can do, so my best advise is to make your workout as intense as you can and play around with what works best for you.
In my opinion it is better to spend more for your daily workout routine. There are also a lot of health professionals around that say you should reach at least 10.000 steps a day. I believe this is more accurate than than saying that a workout has to last 20 minutes because it nothing tells about the intensity. Whereas 10.000 steps is a fixed quanitity and steps can easily be counted with modern fitness trackers.

Its absolutely enough time . In a week for 6 days i do 3 sets of pull ups with 10 reps.... and 5 sets of pushups with 20 reps and honestly over a period of 3 months there was massive difference but the thing is their needs to be a good healthy protein rich diet and i had to cut on all the junk food. From personal experience, I say that exercising 20 minutes can and is beneficial for your health. When I started out, I would do a 10 minute bootcamp style workout or a HIIT, I gained endurance and was able to lose a considerable amount of weight within a short time frame. So, my advice for those just starting an exercise routine, I would start off light until your body adjusts the routine. If your advanced, I would use this time to make every minute count. By this I mean HIIT training and boot camp style workouts. This challenges the body and helps you reach your goals in a shorter amount of time.
Of course, a seven minute workout can produce results as well as a twenty minute workout. It is 3 to 5 times more intense than the 20 min workout.
