Okay so out of experience yes and no. Yes when you first start to exercise you are allowing youre body to adjust to the new routine, therefore 20 min. A day does help and in the beginning stages you do lose a little weight. No, after a certain period of time you would need to add more time and different exercises because its like a medication, youre body adjusts to the new medicine sfter a period of time you need to up the dose or change the medicine all together to get the same effect. Depending if you want to lose weight or maintain weight and another thing that factors into youre routine is how quickly you want to lose weight, how much, body type, medical conditions, etc. Just never over do it but dont under estimate youre body and mind, you set a goal stick to it. You will feel so much better physically and mentally.
That depends heavily on what you eat. If you eat lots of vegetables, produce, and white meat (not pork!) then 20 minutes, sure.
If you eat 12 pizzas a day, 20 minutes may work off 1/4th of your first slice...
It's scary to imagine anyone eating 12 pizzas a day.
yes... as long as you use time getting results... even if half the time is warming up. Abs can be worked daily as well as running can be a daily activity. The 2 combined daily should do the job. Keep me up to date.
I do, as long as your heart rate is elevated...
I'm not really a fitness guru though, and consider any time out of the house with my kids a win. Too bad it's freezing here..
I do just fine for thirty minutes to an hour for fitness
Generally speaking, yes. There are many workout programs that advocate 20 minutes or less a day of working out. It isn't really the time that is the issue, it is the intensity. For example, if you are going for a 20 minute walk everyday, then you most likely won't see any results. However, if you do 20, or even say 12 minutes, of very intense exercises, then you can see much greater results. Further, because of the intensity level, you won't even be able to exercise everyday because your body needs time to rest.
I would recommend
- 2-3 days a week of high intensity exercise for less than 20 minutes (there is a great app called 12 minute athlete that will provide an amazing workout in just 12 minutes)
- 2-3 days per week of low intensity exercise (think a brisk walk) for 35-45 minutes. I know this greater than the allotted time but it is easy and can be broken up throughout the day
Additionally, since I am not a trainer, I wouldn't create a program. However, two great programs that you can purchase are Pavel's Kettlebell Simple and Sinister and Kayla Itsines' Bikini Body Guide. Both of these are geared toward fatloss. Pavel's workouts are shorter than Kayla's but require kettlebells.
The last thing is focus on whatever your fitness goal is (e.g., fat loss, strength, endurance) then build a program around that.
It depends on what kind of workouts you are doing and at what intensity you are doing them. 20 minutes a day of, say, walking can be okay in the beginning, but your body will get used to it after a while. You have to find ways to change it up and challenge yourself in order to keep benefiting from your workouts.
Once you get fit then 20 minutes three times a week is great to keep fit.
You should rest some days to keep from having to increase minutes to your workout. If you do them everyday you lose resistance, or the ability to be affected by them
yes it is...as I do so myself..a brick in each hand.ly on my bed and do my pushups!
I think it is a good start. Over time you should increase the amount you work out and eat healthy.
It's definitely enough especially if done everyday. I don't think there's any excuse to not perform a quick 20 minute daily workout or at least 3-5 times a week.
You can make anything into a routine and you'll get used to it. Once your set in your ways then it's easy. We wouldn't be brushing our teeth twice a day or going to work everyday if there was no routine. It's all a part of conditioning our schedule and our minds to do something like a daily workout.
Obviously age and health conditions are a factor but even then there are things people could do to get a good workout in.
its actually depend upon your body type if you are new then twenty minutes would be enough in a sense that you would be continue throughout the week other wise one hour is also not enough if you are not regular
I think as long as you are moving, breaking a sweat and watching your heart rate that you should be able to stay fit and happy with just 20 minutes a day.
I think it a bit short. twenty minutes aerobic-type exercise to get the lungs pumping air is certainly enough to stay reasonably fit. But more is needed: muscle toning such as pumping iron is necessary, I think, plus yoga-type stretching to keep the body flexible and supple - especially the spine. I once read somewhere that one is as old - or young - as the flexibility of the backbone.
For me, and I'm reasonable fit for an old guy who'll be 79 in April. It's a 90 - minute workout involving all of the above two or three times a week.
Oh, and without being pedantic about it, a reasonably good diet, adequate sleep and recreation are all important. But MOST important, a reason to live.
In my opinion, 20 minutes is perfectly enough, but it is basics, the shortest time you should exercise in a day. If you can exercise longer, it can only be better. I try to do 20 minute walk a day and then I feel fit and healthy.
Working out 20 minutes a day is definitely a great timespan, for a workout that will leave you feeling good. However you must do this 20 minute workout 5 days a week. The more vigorous your workout is, the better results you will see.
In conjunction with your workout schedule you must be maintaining a healthy diet. Also, be sure to Bo drinking plenty of water, as you do not want to dehydrate or risk your wellbeing.
Remember, NEVER OVER WORK YOURSELF!!!
The nature and exercises, it's intensity and the duration of the same to be taken by someone may differ a lot depending on various criteria.
1. Health of a person. An obese person may need to take up more exercises to burn up the fats to remain healthy.
2. Age
3. Gender
4. Profession etc
While it may be recommended by most physician that an exercise of 20 minutes be healthy it may not always apply to everyone.
It differs from one another.
20 minutes a day is great! But there is a catch. You must pair it with a healthy diet, especially for weight loss. As far as staying fit and healthy, 20 minutes is sufficient, but whether you are maintaining your health or trying to improve it, NO amount of exercise can outweigh a bad diet.
It is def enough but by 20 mins it has to be hard workouts not just walking. Like cardio and cross training. You can lose weight such as myself easy like that. I worked out 20 mins a day at home and lost 50 lbs in a few months. Its the quality of the workout more than how long.
20 minute workouts depending on what you are doing can do 1 of 2 things. Maintain your current status (physical appearance) or get your body adjusted for other physical interests so that physically you will be prepared when you are ready to do it. There's so much that goes into fitness. Ones genetics, discipline as well as lifestyle helps alot.
I would say it is dependent on your goals and where you are at currently. Your question does say "stay fit" so if you are already in great shape, maintaining that wouldn't require much more than 20 mins a day of rigorous exercise. That being said it does have to be a solid good workout. As Chris mentioned as well, if you are starting out, you will see results from a 20 min daily routine but will show diminishing return later on if you don't push yourself.
I think that for a start, it is a good way to motivate yourself without too much effort, but eventually, it won't be enough.
your body will progressively adapt to the workout you are doing and it will become less and less useful over time. That's not to say that doing it isn't healthy, it is. What I mean is that if you limit yourself to a specific amount of time for each workout every day, you are never going to achieve the healthy state you want.
Find a program and then adapt to it, adjust it, and tweak it so that you are getting the exercise you need while having fun.
I really enjoy doing a rowing machine while wearing video glasses and watching family guy. I look like a weirdo when I do it (Picture a guy working out strenuously with shades on laughing his ass off) but I don't care; I have fun and get the exercise I need.
One final thought: Doing 20 minutes of exercise per day is far better than doing none at all. Remain consistent and you will feel good and have fun!
Sure,
but simply depend on the kind of result you expect. If you are fit and just want to stay fit than 20 minutes are more than sufficient.
Infact, sometimes when i don't have much time I just bend down , have 22-25 push-ups and stand straight on my feet. This much of exercise , which costs less than a minute , make me feel fit and relaxed for the whole day.
Thanks
You should also eat healthy. I don't like unhealthy food at all. I know, many people cannot give up eating them. My brother recommended to use some free app for my phone like http://buymeapie.com in order to make lists of food I need. It helps me to buy exactly the food I need and not more. It is kinda small quest which helps to stay fit and healthy
I would say that this is a complicated question. Everyone is different, their fitness and health goals are different as well. Body mass is a big factor too. What may be a good workout schedule for one person, may not actually be optimum choice for another.
For the best results it needs to be coupled with not just diet, but a lifestyle change. Dieting is a yoyo- you loose then you gain. By making a lifestyle change revolving around what you put in your body as well as your workout routine you will remain a healthier you.
I at one point was over 300 lbs, while there were a few medical factors simply exercising 3 times a week for 45 minutes and making a lifestyle change was enough to get me down to my goal weight. I am not on track anymore since the birth of my son, but at least I know will work.
I would suggest seeking advice from a trainer and nutritionist as to what would be best for the individual. While many professionals recommend 20 minutes a day this is a general recommendation, not a personalized one.
It depends on what kind of exercise you do, a person walking for 20 minutes will be different than those who run 20 mins. The more calories you burn, the better you will be in shape. But sometime try to now overwork, because it will not good for your health.
20 to 15 Minutes are enough for warm up your body to do any work and use of body I don't ting that 20 minutes is enough to stay fit and healthy it is depend on your working profile it means that if you are doing a sitting job that you need to give some more time to your workout also add some yoga/asana in workout. And 20 min will not gives energy to work over a day. But it is great workout is good habit and and 20 minutes are good in initial stage.
20 minutes a day can be enough time, depending on what kinds of workouts you do. I personally like to change my workouts from day to day because I get bored easily with the same routine. I like to do 20 minutes of cardio one day, 20 of yoga, and 20 of abs from day to day. I think if you do 20 minutes it will be enough to keep you fit and toned, but maybe not enough to consecutively lose weight if that is your goal. Find some music that gets you pumped up for your workout and that can be beneficial for your own needs. Another tip I have is to choose something you like doing. For example, I enjoy dancing, so I incorporate dancing and hip-hop moves into my workout for an ab routine. By doing a workout I like, I can stay focused. However, if you can only do a maximum of 20 minutes a day, I would recommend performing more cardio-based workouts. Cardio is one of the best ways to burn the most calories in a short amount of time. You also need a proper mixture of components, other than just working out, to start seeing results. Eating foods that are good for your body, drinking water, and maintaining an active life are all factors in being a healthy individual.
Great question - thank you for asking this.
I believe the worst thing we ever did as fitness professionals is to encourage people to exercise three times a week.
Routine is built daily. The 20 minutes a day is not enough for most people but for most of our populace this would be a 90% improvement over their zero minutes per day.
I think 30 mins should be a minimum,
and exercises should elevate your heart level, you should really break a sweat..
it will help you in the long run and it will help you stay fit and healthy..
But if your trying to lose a lot of weight it shouldn't be less than an hour of vigorous exercise..
Yes you would be surprised what 5 minutes a day will do to help. Do one exercise for 2 minutes then go to another one for 2 minutes etc. Change the things you do to keep things different.
actually 20 minutes is just the 'warm up
I've been told is the amount of time it takes just to get your metabolism going (in other words if you want to lose the weight you need to do say cardio or walking at least just so your metabolism will kick the crap out of the fat that may go in your body. after 20 minutes then you do whatever your intended exercise, Weights cardio etc
also it's best to change it up each day or week what you do.
One day do Cardio, another weighs, another yoga, maybe have a martial arts class etc. You also need to change up your exercises as your body will get used to them. So instead of explaining it ALL to you

& here you can keep track of your training https://zisbeautybalm.wordpress.com/the … m/fitness/
(note.. May combine the 2 pages into one.)
According to me,if you workout regularly,20 minutes is enough to stay healthy.
personally I believe that 20 minutes is enough to loss fat
today : 20 min , tomorrow 20 min , after tomorrow 20 min... etc.
So that I think it's long enough to lose weight and improve health
It depend on what type of workout you are doing, but it should work.
Yeah, you are right because one have to make his or her habit to take exercise daily at least for 20 minutes to keep himself or herself fit
If your active throughout the day then come home and also do a quick 20 minute workout, then your probably good. If you sit on your butt watching TV, eating chips all day, 20 minutes isn't going to help you.
I think it would depend on how much you want to lose. For better results, you may exercise for an hour if you'd like.
To improve your cardiovascular health, the American Heart Association recommends that you do moderate exercise for about 150 minutes a week. Which is pretty close to 20 minutes a day. You can also get by on 75 minutes of vigorous exercise a week, which is only 11 minutes of vigorous exercise a day. You can always do more, but this is the "bare minimum"
If you want to optimize your health, then you have to consider other things, like the type of training you are doing, your eating habits, etc. The importance of this depends on if you are trying to lose weight (more diet stuff), run more/faster (some diet, some strength, mostly running), or lift weights (lift, diet w/ protein, run/walk some).
I'd check out HIIT training, it's basically one of the fastest growing 'in' thing within the fitness world, and it's based on solid science. It stands for High Intensity Interval Training and there are lots of guides out there that provide 20 minute routines.
I guess it would depend on the intensity of the workout, but 20 minutes should surely suffice if the exercise is challenging and progressive.
It depends on how you use those 20 minutes. And it's always better than no workout. This advice is helpful because a quick 20 min workout doesn't take as much effort as a 60 min one which people are more likely to give up. Even if you are busy, you can squeeze 20-30 min for exercise.
Regarding if 20 min is enough for a effective workout; yes, but you'll have to lower rest periods and may be try super-sets. Or you could isolate different muscle groups and work them on different days.
Try jump rope. 20 min of jump rope is better than 45 min of jogging.
Everything is dependent upon your goals. What you may see as fit and healthy, someone else may see as extreme. In my personal opinion, 20 minutes per day is not enough. For a reference, that leave 23 hours and 40 minutes of the day that you are not actively participating in exercise for not only your musculoskeletal system, but your heart and lungs as well. Just by reading some of the posts you can see that terms such as "get by" are being used to describe how effective this regimen will be. People want to get on a treadmill and "burn calories" but refuse to lift weights for fear of getting "bulky." The issue? Muscle requires energy, the same energy used to walk that treadmill, except it works even while you are asleep. Take the time to build the muscle and let your body work with you, not against you. Burn fat while you're awake and while you sleep.
Depends on how intensive the workout is, but I definitely think 20 minutes a day is enough. As long as the workout focuses on all aspects of the body
Minimum 30 minutes a day is necessary for keeping fit your body.

You can get by with 20 minutes a day for the first couple years, you are going to need a little more as your body adjusts and becomes use to this.
20 minutes a day is better then nothing at all, it depends on your workouts and the intensity. Doing something is much better then doing nothing at all.
I would rotate every other day with cardio and weights, by upping the intensity and the weight you can increase the workouts for a good amount of time.
Eventually you will get into condition and increase the time yourself for more gains.
20 minutes can work if it is high intensity or you are doing workouts that your goal is to burn a set amount of calories. Like the 100 calorie workouts only take 8 minutes. You need to burn 500 calories a day to burn off a pound a week. I suggest finding your BMR to see what you naturally burn, then use that to decide how much to work out.
