Collectable Schnauzer Souvenirs - Gifts for Schnauzer Lovers

Updated on January 20, 2010

Schnauzer

Schnauzers get their name from their furry muzzle, which is something that I never really knew. The breed name comes from the German word "Schnauze,' meaning 'snout,' which actually makes sense if you think about it. Although, many would call the fur on the dog's snout, a beard, the term 'schnauzer' actually means 'moustache' in German.

The breed is German, and comes in three size varieties- miniature, standard, and giant, ranging from about 5 to 85 pounds, depending on the size variety.

Schnauzers are friendly, loving, protective, energetic, intelligent and great dogs to have in families. Just watch out because their protective nature can be a lot to handle, and because the breed is very smart, they can get into trouble if left bored and to their own devices.

If you have a Schnauzer, then you know that you need to start training early and keep up with it. Schnauzers can be a handful.

The breed is not only a great family pet, but they're also wonderful working dogs. Schnauzers are an all around great breed, if you know what you're getting into. Just be careful because the Giant Schnauzers can be quite powerful.

Overall, Schnauzers are great pets, and you'll find you know at least one person how has a Schnauzer or who has had one, and they'll tell you that they love them. A true Schnauzer lover though, will have had and currently has at least one Schnauzer. For these people, you want to find a gift that features the breed they love.

Gifts for Schnauzer Lovers

When looking for a gift for a Schnauzer lover, you want to get something that features the favorite breed. There are a lot of options that you can choose from, so it's not going to be a simple decision.

Depending on how much you want to spend and what you think the person would like the best, you'll find that your options are not limited to one or two things. If you're looking for something that is a little inexpensive, you may want to consider car decals, calendars, key chains, license plates, license plate frames, t-shirts, and coffee cups.

If you're looking for something that is a little more pricey and personal, you should consider collector items such as porcelain plates, statues and figurines, paintings, and personalized gifts.

There are really many options that you can choose from, but it's all in the person's tastes. You don't want to get a Schnauzer purse and wallet set, if you're buying a gift for a guy or if you're buying a gift for a women who would rather not carry a purse. In my opinion, the dog purses are best for girls.

When choosing the perfect gift for a Schnauzer lover, sometimes the best gifts are the simple ones, and other times the best gifts are those that are personalized. When it comes to looking for a personalized gift, you don't have to spend a fortune because some sellers offer personalization for either a small fee or included in the price of the item.

eBay is a great place to find inexpensive personalized Schnauzer gifts. The more popular are ornaments, address labels, bracelets, shirts, blankets, totes and bags, mouse pads, magnets, key chains, house signs, license plates, coffee cups, paintings, and tons of other things.

Personalized gifts are great because the receiver knows that you really were thinking about him/her, and in most cases will feel like you went out of your way to find the personalized item.

No matter what gift you end up purchasing for a Schnauzer lover, you will find that the smile and excitement on his/her face will be better than you expected.

I have received key chains, hoodies, shirts, and calendars with my favorite breed on them, and every time I'm just as thrilled. There's something about being able to parade the breed that you're proud of and love. There's something about being asked why you have a shirt or jacket that has a specific dog breed on it. The answer is going to be something along the lines of, "Because it's my favorite dog breed and I won't have any other dog other than a [Schnauzer].'

And remember, there's a difference between a Schnauzer lover and a person who has a Schnauzer... A dog breed lover will have no other dog but that dog breed, and a lover will know just about everything imaginable about that breed. A person with a Schnauzer, will know about their dog, basics about the breed, and could care less what other dogs they got in the future.

Don't worry if you're trying to find something with a Miniature Schnauzer or specifically a Standard Schnauzer because for the most part, you can't really tell the difference unless the shirt, blanket, pillow, painting, whatever features the different sizes or something that can offer a size comparison. For example, a Giant Schnauzer will over tower a bush, whereas a Miniature Schnauzer will not, but you'll find that for the most part, the size variety isn't going to be that big of a deal.

Just remember, there are tons of options and tons of things that you can choose from when looking for the perfect gift. Take your time and browse through everything before you make your final decision.
