I agree with you Brenda that the special person in your life may not be the woman who gave birth to you. It can be a friendly face, grandmother, aunt, brother or even your significant other. This is the way I have always felt but didn't feel the courage to say it. Thank you for writing this poem. Everyone yearns for like a mother's touch.

Thank you, John, for sharing Brenda's poetry.

        Rosina...
I'm not receiving any notifications for this one...go figure.

In any case...I'm glad you feel this way because there are alot of people who reach out to help others.

There love is just as valuable as the love of a mother, and oftentimes the only care and concern someone receives.

        Have a great evening .

      John...
Thank you so much for sharing this one for me.

I know there will be those that disagree...thinking Mother's day is just for Mother's.
But I've found in life that there are many of us who are touched by other people who deserve this credit.

      Glad you enjoyed this one.

While no one can truly take the place of a loving mother, we can be supported and loved by others as your poem shows, Brenda.  Thanks John for sharing her poem with us.

      Peggy...
      Thank you.

I have friends and family who grew up without their biological mother.

The support they get from others is probably more love than a mother could show.

No doubt...I'm certain they wish it was their own mother, but sadly they must continue without them.

      Peggy...
My niece lost her mother at a very early age...I doubt that she really remembers her except for a few pictures she has of her.
She was not quite 2 years old.

      So for her...
Others have stepped in to be there

Thanks for posting this, John. Brenda definitely strikes a chord with me in this poem. This was the role of my mother-in-law in my life, along with so much more. Sadly she died suddenly last June. Today would have been her birthday, the first one without her. She was my great encourager.

      Liz...
I'm sorry you know this feeling of loss.  It's like a big empty void that nothing else can feel.

I'm happy you had her in your life to support & love you.

I'm sure she knows you are thinking about her on this special day and always.

A beautiful poem, Brenda. Though a mother's love is incomparable, It is true that anyone can be that special person who has our back and helps us in times of need and make us feel our mother's touch. Thanks John for sharing.

      Vidya...
      Thank you.

A Mother's love is unique.  Luckily, I was blessed with a wonderful mom, but some of us do not have one.

Either through death or misfortune of families splitting up and going separate ways.
Or being abandoned...which happens to the best of us.

Whatever the reason....others step up and deserve this credit on Mother's Day.

I'm glad there are people out there who carry so much love in their hearts.

Brenda has written a lovely poem. I especially like the fact that she has pointed out that a comforter or supporter doesn't have to be a mother or even another relative.

      Linda...
Thank you so much for your kind words.

I believe there are many other people who give a Mother's touch besides a birth mother.

I know one lady who has no children but she is there for alot of people.

I'm glad you thought it was a beautiful piece.
