   What do you think of (legal) immigrants to your country?
   
   Do you welcome them (in your own mind)? or do you wish they went back to where they came from. I'm not talking about illegals, or refugees.

   Legal immigrants are mostly welcome in the USA. They have shown they respect our laws by doing all that is necessary to be legal.   It's the people that slip across our border in the dead of night that draw our ire.

   i'm proud of the fact that people want to immigrate to canada. the people who do it legaly are as welcomed and cared for as a person who is born here.

   In my country, the highest number of immigrants comes from Indonesia. In my opinion, immigrants are welcome as long as they support the country and don't make any trouble.

   I think that any legal immigrant should be welcomed with open arms and embraced as a new member of the American family.  If you came to this country, and went through the process of doing it legally, you must truly believe that there is value, opportunity, and freedom in the American way of life.  Welcome, I say!  Share with me about where you come from and begin to enjoy where you are!

   If a person takes the steps to legally become apart of another country, then I think they should be given the same respect given to someone who was born here originally.  Although there are always a bad apple (or two or three) in every group, it shows something positive when someone takes the time to do something the right way.

   I proudly welcome legal immigrants to my country and I am honored that they chose to come here and live with us.  In becoming legal immigrants, they also agreed to uphold the laws of the American society.  A diverse society is a strong one and as long as we do it legally and those who come here in that manner look upon themselves first and foremost as Americans, then I say, "Welcome!"  WB

   I couldn't very well do anything but welcome them. I was born in America and so were my parents, but at some point my ancestors were immigrants too. Everyone's were, with the exception of Native Americans and even they most likely came here at one point from further toward the Middle East and Africa from where people first evolved. Everyone comes from somewhere else at some point.

   A few course problems when they come over But in l think that the Govenment in Britain is a mess...and coping to deal with the problems ...like over crowding in Schools and hospitals ect...  There are too many false marriages.....and too many problems in jobs...that some take to drugs and homeless.....l think that crime is worse in Britain in recent years....honour killing was never heard of.....and comes with this.....also business who try to help these people to earn...in return will get a heavy fine.......l have heard of a few broken marriages where young girls have destroyed peoples homes by their sexual attraction towards the householders hushands..what else can l say with regards......
   
   Now on the positive note:-   some who immigrate to Britain...are hard working eg. some students whos parents pay for their education will study hard....but we also hear stories that they also have sex to earn some money.....so there is a lot of mess here.....

    There is so much diversity that legal immigrants are part of the community. After all, we came from the same ancestors. Yes, legal immigrants are natural and welcomed to the country.

    Let us ask the native Indians for a true perspective.  They have lived the history and the alienation of their own race and culture.
    
    Their story would have been vastly different, it the Europeans had come, wanting to be Indians.  The settlers had another agenda.
    
    If someone truly has something worthwhile and life changing to contribute, shouldn't they first want to contribute to their mother country?  If they seek a better life, shouldn't they change the conditions of their home country?   The USofA has already been made.

    America was founded on the principals of immigration and equality.  It is a very important part of who we are.  At times, however, some cultures are unwilling to assimilate and take what they want from American culture, and discard the rest.  Everyone must contribute to society as a whole and be willing to take the good with the bad.  Especially, if they are recent immigrants who came here of their own free will.  In truth, other than the native Americans, we are all immigrants and should respect and attempt to improve the land in which we CHOOSE to live.

    Legal immigrants are fine! I find that immigrants bring new both business and culture to America, and they teach us valuable things from their mother country. I find that a lot of immigrants are more humble and truthful than a lot of my soil-born friends.
    
    Besides, immigrants are what makes America what it is! Like what a good friend of mine said, we are in fact the mixed muts of the world. Might as well embrace our diversity.

    i think we should review other countries that have a policy for legal immigrants that works.
    our closest is Canada. they dont have an issue or controversy that we have with legal immigrants. we dont necessarily have to adopt their plan but use information for what has worked for them  for legal immigration.
    a lot of our legal immigrants become illegal by not following rules we have in place.
    we need to create better laws surrounding the immigration of immigrants and enforce them

    I agree with most rexy's comments regarding immigration in the UK, I live near a city in the North of England called Bradford that has a rather large immigrant population & there are many many problems here, Do not get me wrong many have integrated well into British society but there are also many that either don't want to or refuse to, therefore a ghetto mentality is emerging in the inner city. it does not help when we express an opinion on these matters  & we get knocked down & accused of being racist of which I am not, what also does not help is that my local authority & local newspaper think there is some kind of multicultural utopia here where clearly there is not. Britain has had immigrants coming here long before the Romans invaded so it is nothing new but a lot of the problems are race related & religious issues & both are a two way street. We do have a small core of racist groups amongst the indigenous population that do not help matters but like I say it is a two way street, the ghetto-ization of some immigrants does not help either. The problem is with the authorities including the government, police & local authorities who in my opinion are scared to act because Britain sadly is too far gone. It would be an excellent place to live in a multicultural utopia if we could all get on, but sadly this isn't going to happen

    If someone takes the time to become a legal immigrant then they should be welcomed by everyone. They will be paying the same taxes and have to follow the same laws. But, the testing to become a legal immigrant needs to be reformed. Make sure the test is accessible for everyone. Right now many natural born Americans would fail the test. How can we expect an immigrant to know more than us?

    How do you grow a nation, economically and culturally, without an immigration policy?  Australia would not be the nations it is without immigrants.  People can always vote for no immigration if they choose to - after all the legal policies of a government are a reflection of popular opinion.  It seems that as Australia has always had immigration policy (even though for many decades it was 'white only') so people have always seen the benefits of it.  I love the fact that I can go to restaurants of all nations and see festivals and cultural things from all nations here.  When I travelled there were many places that were almost mono-cultural and that felt wrong.  I welcome migrants, what I don't welcome is racial tension.
