What is your concept regarding death?

I believe that only the body dies.  The soul...who we truly are continues.   The rest of the story is a mystery, but my basic concept is rooted in Christian Theology.  There are many theories, beliefs, and speculations as to what happens after death, but not a great deal of concrete proof.  It is a subject (like the belief in aliens) that  is subjective.  Unless one has personally experienced death, then one has only the word of others to create a personal  assumption regarding the matter.
Good question.  Good luck with this thread.  Arugment (discussion) on personal beliefs can be interesting, but usually descends into something resembling pigs in a mud hole. smile

That everything about us dies. After all, nobody has come back to prove otherwise, well, not convincingly, anyway.

On the other hand, I wouldn't make a bet on it because I simply do not know.

We are complex machines running advanced software which eventually cease to function. Unless we wipe ourselves out, we will eventually figure out how to maintain the machine indefinitely or how to transfer the software from one machine to another and we will be able to live as long as we wish.

It's a good idea - most of the time and in most cases we don't want to die, but we don't know how to live forever in good health.  One thing we know for sure and it is the easiest - we know how to kill. Killing is the simplest concept.

My concept of death is that everyone who dies stays in the grave and sleeps until Jesus comes. When he comes, he raises those who are dead in Him (the dead in Christ shall rise first). The dead wicked remain asleep until Jesus returns after 1000 years of reigning with His believers.

Those of you who think this is a radical idea, it has actually been around for centuries. The early Christians in the Bible believed it. Through the years, paganism crept in and changed it because people don't like to believe that they stay in the grave after death.

Look, if God raised Jesus from the dead and made dry bones come to life, don't you think He can raise those of us who believe in Him also? Faith, that's what it's all about.

I'm sure there is a life after death because we definitely came from somewhere and we'll go somewhere. It can't happen, that we + this world came into existence by itself and will finish by itself.
    Someone must be behind this.

we die. to me it isn't some path to a heaven or hell, it isn't a waiting point to other things, it's just death. the end.

everybody will die after a few years later, then we have nothing at that moment. so when we alive today, we should do whatever we like and finish our dream.

My concept regarding death is nothing but my physical disappearance. Whatever I acquired - earned - may be money, relation, reputation, friendship  land, house and such things are here itself. I will be remembered by others.I am living in them.
If I donate my eyes, heart or other parts  of body, after death, I can  let my body parts to live.
So, death is an interesting  subject  to think, because death also thinking  to whom he can appear as an unwanted guest!

This isn't my concept, this is God's Word---everyone must die at some point, there is no escaping it.  You will go to one of two places--Heaven or Hell.  People make fun of Hell, saying it is a joke, but when they wake up there, they won't be laughing.  God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to die for all of man's sins, including mine and yours.  All we have to do is accept what Christ did on the cross and make Him our Lord and Saviour.......please, read my hub on this important subject!!

Certainly the cycle of life leads everybody from birth to death and death to birth from one world to another because Energy cannot be destroyed but only can be changed. The question is whether it is from human to gods or angels or to demons depends upon the way the energy is changed & transformed by us to fit its place in the next world.

We are all going to do it.   Die, that is............

What you believe might give you fear or comfort when you actually face it.

All of us will DIE..............there is no other concept about it.

What happens afterward is the topic of discussion.

I think the body dies but the soul lives on. I have many reasons for this belief...I've experienced things that prove it...and to be honest, it's comforting to me.

If any thing is certain to happen it is death. It is one of the wonders of this world. No can  escape death.  I believe the type of death that we have depends on our karma. There is re-birth and reincarnation of souls.

There is life after death. On Earth part of the reason we experience Death is so that we understand and appreciate what eternity feels like. There would be no possible way to do so if we did not experience death in this life. Just like we wouldn't know what cold was if we never experienced hot.

Death is a metaphor for a consolidation of effects leading to a lack of brain activity and pulse, at which point, the body rapidly decays until (5 billion years later) finding itself engulfed by the sun... or smashing into the Andromeda galaxy smile.

Its a sad reflection that we concentrate to much on what happens after death instead of what is happening in our life. We have no evidence to prove that anything happens to us after we have expired, we know it will come to all of us in the end so we shouldn't fear it.
My own personal idea is that we are the fertilizer of the earth, life is a reward for putting something useful back into the earth when we die.

If there is life after death do all animals experience it?

As long as I get to do the stuff I want to in life then I couldn't care less about what happens after death. If there's an afterlife yay, if I'm a ghost time to haunt some politicians..., if there's nothing...well I get a free sleeping ticket.

I believe there is life after death. However, if not, why do we fear death? The thought of all the time before we were born doesn't scare us. So why should death be any different? The thought of nothingness doesn't leave much to look forward to. I'll stick to my beliefs while respecting other's.

I believe that when we die, our physical body returns to where it belongs, the ground,  and the soul continues existing either in another body or remains in expectance to continue a cycle in some other form of physical body.

Over time, as the cycle continues, the physical body may attain a higher degree of understanding until the soul may detach completely from recycling on earth and continue in higher degree of enlightment, eternally.

From a biblical standpoint, death is likened to a sleep. Jesus said "Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.  Jesus had spoken, however, about his death" John 11:11--44 . Food for thought.
