why are most of the British liberals so fascist when it comes to Israel?

"Palestine" was never  a sovereign country. Jews were there first. "Palestinians" are Arabs, no different than the ones in Egypt. So why are the British so hateful towards Jews?

They are not hateful towards the Jews. They merely oppose a despotic regime massacring civilians for the sake of its "security" and slowly encroaching upon what has every right to be a sovereign nation.

It was the British who gave the land of Palestine to the Jews after WWII. They gave land to people who had no land - invented a country and kicked the people of that region out. Those people to this day are the Palestinians living in refugee camps in Lebanon, scattered throughout Egypt or hiding out in Syria. The Israeli government with weapons and money from the United States is constantly attacking the Palestinian people and bullying Middle Eastern countries.
Yet, in my opinion this conflict should not even be blamed on Palestinians or Jews - it is a direct result of British Imperialism. Britain should accept all Palestinian refugees since it gave their country away.

Well Rene, Its my experience liberals don't like much of anything. They are always looking for a cause and an opportunity to screw it up. The tribes of Israel occupied  this land since records began, the British only gave them back what was theirs. Now as far as defending their country, they are surrounded by idiots and morons. These clowns only get support from other idiots and morons to include liberal activists. Israel has come to the table too many times, they should have kept the Westbank and Gaza.(not to mention the Sinai). The Islamo-nazis use the Palastinians like puppets on a string. Strophios you didn't mention suicide bombings, rockets and ambushes that kill Israeli  civilians and draw return fire. These cowards launch attacks from their homes and scream foul when they get what they deserve. Don't be an idiot liberal. Peace.

Strophios, strophios; wherefore art thou oh strophios...If a large % of the world had it their way.  Israel, as a people,  would have to reside on dingies in the ocean -- and that is what's so screwed up about all of this anyway.

I would protect the Jewish nation even if it meant I would have to die in the process.

Have you read the Goldstone report on Israel's recent invasion of Gaza? Don't you suppose the attitudes of liberals in the UK and U.S. and other western countries is influenced by Israel's mistreatment of Palestinians?

Like its predecessors, the so-called Goldstone report, named after chief investigator Richard Goldstone, is devastating in its critique of Israeli actions: indiscriminate use of firepower; deliberate attacks on civilians and civilian structures, including hospitals, schools, mosques, water and sewage plants, and rescue vehicles; use of white phosphorus munitions in built-up areas; use of human shields; abusive treatment of detainees; imposition of a blockade on Gaza before and after the attack itself--the report concludes that Israel violated international humanitarian law, committed "grave breaches of the Fourth Geneva Convention in respect of wilful killings and wilfully causing great suffering to protected persons," and war crimes, possibly even crimes against humanity. The courageous Israeli journalist Gideon Levy summed it up well in   Haaretz: it was "an unrestrained assault on a besieged, totally unprotected civilian population which showed almost no signs of resistance during this operation."

Perhaps most damning of all was the testimony of some thirty Israeli veterans of the operation gathered by the organization Breaking the Silence, published in a booklet in July and cited by the Goldstone report. According to the booklet's introduction, "The majority of the soldiers who spoke with us are still serving in their regular military units and turned to us in deep distress at the moral deterioration of the IDF.… The stories of this publication prove that we are not dealing with the failures of individual soldiers, and attest instead to failures in the application of values primarily on a systemic level." The testimony is chilling: "Fire power was insane"; "if you see any signs of movement at all, you shoot. These, essentially, were the rules of engagement. Shoot if you like"; "Houses were demolished everywhere.… We didn't see a single house that was not hit"; "whole neighborhoods were simply razed because four houses in the area served to launch Qassam rockets"; "You know what? You feel like a child playing around with a magnifying glass, burning up ants. Really. A 20-year-old kid should not be doing such things to people."

The Palestinians have made real progress toward stability. Israel should reward them for it. But the progress is taking place in the context of repression: the West Bank still has many aspects of a low-security prison. Israele controls the borders, the airspace, the water supply and the electricity. As you drive from Ramallah north to Nablus, illegal Israeli settlements and outposts command the tops of many hills...The Israeli plan is to wait them out, keep building settlements and force them out... Palestinian Government will have all the components of a functioning Palestinian state in place in the West Bank by the summer of 2011. What obstacles are there to recognizing a legitimate state of Palestine?

Israel acts a bully because it has a big ally behind - USA. The British liberals like fair play and I congratulate them for it.

Let us be straight. They created this whole mess. The only unfortunate truth, is that they are not willing to clean it up. They created a state that had neither political or geographical boundaries. Until a time that this is addressed the conflict will drag on and on.
