No facts here, just some conspiracy-style speculating.

The media is showing truly forced mass confinement on an almost national level in China. The process seems to be to remove all Covid from their society so they can protect a clean slate. No tolerable levels, no percentages beyond %0. That is my perception of the media presentation.

That can't be the real explanation, they aren't going to finish the encirclement of the Great China Wall. They're not idiots, they must know they can't isolate from the world.

    So . . .  what if:

It was a preparatory action, like Putin's slow military build-up around Ukraine, to isolate and control a majority of people while they prepare to move against Taiwan. They have recently been more arrogantly confrontational with Taiwan relative to air space and sea boundaries.

What if, like Putin waiting until after the Olympics, Xi is waiting until this Ukraine thing reaches its peak U.S. involvement and then moves on Taiwan?

Hey, I'm not promoting this scenario, but . . .

We would all be fools to think that Xi isn't watching world events before carefully making his move. While everyone is overwhelmed and distracted, it would be the perfect time.

But what could we do about it, I mean really? More sanctions? China has become an intregal part of this nation's economy. Would we be just "spitting in the wind" in any confrontation?

Again, we speak of violating a nation's sphere of influence, can we?

Yep, there's nothing we can do and no we shouldn't if we could.

I think it has more to do with denying supplies to America, and this is their excuse.  And in turn they will convince their own people that all the hardships they are facing is because of America.

I think Russia's build up makes a lot more sense when you understand that Ukraine declared in March 2021 to take Crimea back by force and they began a build up of some 60,000 troops along the Crimea and Donbas border area readying for the attack.  An attack Ukraine began on the 16th of Feb 2022.

I think Saudi Arabia may also turn on America, joining with Russia and China, detaching themselves from the dollar and switching to the Yuan.

I think the world sees Biden and his Administration as the most unsophisticated and incompetent of any Administration of the last 40 years.

I think our own government is laying the foundation to turn on its own people, as many within DC consider the biggest threat to America (their power) to be its own citizens.

There is nothing that proves a government is corrupt more than when it turns on its citizens and considers them the biggest threat on the Horizon.

Mine is much worse, it is most likely the winner --- What If they have had another virus leak? A  spanking a brand new one.  I am not sure Omicron would cause such a stir. This mirrors the Wuhan lockdown, but on steroids.

So how is this for a conspiracy?

A government that also works very hard to bait citizens one against another.

I'm not at all convinced that China is preparing to invade Taiwan. I have a track record of reading things wrongly, but why would China want to do so?
It's certainly true that America is losing influence in the world. But this started long before Biden.

I think perhaps Americans are reading too much into this, and effectively creating American’s own ‘conspiracy theories’ against China, which is nothing new.

China, along with a handful of other countries around the world took a ‘covid-zero-tolerance’ from the start e.g. harsh local lockdowns in affected areas and strict border controls etc.  And for two years it served them well e.g. low infection rate, and low death rate while the Western World, with a less strict approach suffered heavy loss of life from covid.

However, due to China’s zero-covid-tolerance, unlike the Western World there is very little natural immunity against covid in China, and the latest analysis suggests that to achieve herd immunity against covid around 93% of the population needs to be immune (either from vaccination and or natural immunity).  Currently although 86.33% of the Chinese population are fully vaccinated, only 51% of Chinese over the age of 80 are fully vaccinated.  So now, while the rest of the world is learning to live with covid, China is facing a time-bomb due to their zero-covid tolerance policy in combination with the vaccination from the elderly being so low.

Can we really say how many died in China of COVID?  Is it even logical to believe anything China says about the virus, after what we now know about this virus?--  China with billions of people living in poor crowded conditions, it is illogical to believe anything they say in regard to COVID.

It is widely known that when the new coronavirus emerged in December 2019, the Chinese government downplayed the pandemic threat for several critical weeks, and added to the spread.

I know Americans are very cynical about the outside world, not just China and Russia but also the Middle East and Europe; and although there may be truths in it, there is a lot of over dramatization from American publications.

Anyway, China was NOT the only country who operated a zero-covid tolerance policy during the pandemic; other countries that enforced the same strict policies include New Zealand, South Korea and Iceland.

In those countries where a strict zero-covid policy was imposed the death toll from covid during the pandemic was remarkably low; compared to countries like the USA, UK and other European countries that tried a different approach with less success and a higher death toll.

Death Toll in Countries that used the same policy as China for controlling covid:-

        •    New Zealand = 143 covid deaths per million of population
        •    Iceland    = 345 per million
        •    South Korea = 447 per million

In comparison, in countries that didn’t use a zero-tolerance to covid approach, the death toll was much, much higher, for example:-

        •    USA = 3,051 covid deaths per million of population, and
        •    UK = 2,552 per million

As regards your last paragraph, the regional government in China downplayed the threat initially, it being a new disease, it took a little while to recognise it as a new disease, and to work out how contagious and deadly it was e.g. no one can know how serious a new disease is until its had time to show how serious it is.

Anyway, once the National Government got wind of what was going on they did act swiftly; China sent a full DNA profile of the virus to all Labs around the world in January, including the UK Government Porton Down Lab in Salisbury, England.

Realistically, if a similar new disease emerged in the USA it could take the USA authorities’ weeks to realise what it was, identify it as a new disease, and realise how serious it was; I would take weeks not days for the USA to get a handle on it.  So yes, in hindsight, China could have done it better; but then that’s true for just about any crisis in any country; in hind sight Government’s, including the USA Government, could have done better than they did.
