They say don't worry, you'll always find replacements in life. In some ways, I agree with it, but I'm confused. My question is, is it a replacement, an adjustment, or a compromise? What do you think?
Hi Misbah, I had never really heard that term, but I guess it could refer to anything. For instance, if a pet dies they say you can always get another. Similarly, if a relationship breaks up..."Oh, you'll find love again." If it involves inanimate objects like a car or refrigerator I would call it a replacement, but if it involves living things or feelings or maybe something you are deeply attached to like a home..it would more likely be an adjustment or compromise.
Thank you so much for your kind response, John. I agree with your thoughts.
This phrase is widely used in many Asian countries. When someone goes through a breakup or loses a loved one, for example, people try to encourage them to stay strong and often say this phrase. I don't believe one can love another person the same way they loved the first. People, I believe, do make adjustments and compromises.
Sending lots of Blessings to you, dear friend!
I agree with you, John. A love one can't be replaced by another. Even if I weren't too old to have another child, he or she would be loved for themself. That child would not replace the son I lost.
Everything is new. Creation is evolution and transformation ... all happening in the Now. Right now it's different from a second ago. Nothing is the same.
We can use those words if we so desire, but where ever you are is where Love wants you and much of it is already designed by Divine Providence. There's an element of Grace, and fate can be changed by an unchanging will, but generally speaking, karma coils around us like snakes.
It really is a blessing to run into a God-man or to receive Grace directly from Allah. Otherwise, Earth remains its usual arena where we grow, the growth being infinitely more importand than our encounters. Yet it is the encounters that inspires us to grow.
Even these words would be received one way by some and perceived differently by others. Each soul eventually has to aspire to a Higher Light. God is your birthright. Yet growth cannot be forced. Salaam!
P.S. What we are seeking, is already seeking us. We have only to re-discover our true nature, not find replacements. We are Spirit. That was the message of my last poem.
Thank you so much for your detailed and interesting response, dear brother. I sincerely appreciate your kindness.
We Love God and we Love everyone for the sake of God; God has placed that Love in our hearts, but I believe there is a difference in the ratio of that love when it comes to human relationships; we can't simply measure everyone's love and priority on the same scale, I guess.
I agree with Rumi's quote and your last poem was so beautiful. I hope you are doing well.
Much Love and Blessings!!
I agree with John. I don't believe that anything can replace our feelings for a loved one that has died, whether that entity is a person or a pet. I do agree that when a person or pet that we loved has passed on, we might develop an affection for another person or pet, and this affection might be as strong as the one for the previous being. Even so, the new bond is added to the previous one. It doesn't replace it.
Thank you so much for your very insightful comment, Linda. I agree with you and John. It can never be replaced. It may help us to deal with the situation for some time. We are emotional beings, and emotions are important to us as humans. Nothing, I believe, can ever replace our feelings for a loved one who has died.
Take care!
Blessings and Love as always!!
In Life Misbah, every day is an experience. So when one chapter closes, another opens with a brand new experience and perspective, and this cycle of experiences goes on and on. So, in short, every episode in life is an experience to be savored and not a replacement.
Empty spaces do not remain empty, they get filled up, even if that is with air l…unless you intentionally create a vacuum. But a vacuum inside a thin bottle will get it crushed soon due to the heavy external air pressure. That’s science. If you leave a vacuum inside your heart and are not strong enough to deal with it, it will crush you. So let that vacuum be filled. Water or air or something else, it doesn’t matter…the point is to flow… to move on…. And cherish the experience gathered along the way.
That's a nice way to put it Farah.
If you leave a vacuum inside your heart and are not strong enough to deal with it, it will crush you.
I don't believe we ever replace any person or pet.
The times we've shared can never be erased or replaced.
A new connection is possible with a totally different path and feeling.
We must allow our hearts to remain open, even if it hurts.
