I don't know what to believe anymore.
If God is out there, how is he helping me, is it thru people
and if so, is it more because I call people for help?

If I'm not feeling well so much, why isn't he answereing my prayer?
I feel like job in the bible.
I don't understand why he is not helping me feel better.
It's a daily struggle and I try to not think of myself.
that is got to be my main goal, to not think of my self
how selfishness gets us no where.

I'm lost. I'm not sure where to go
    hmm

we are god, it's that simple and i truly wish people would realize that. it saddens me when i see people have all this faith in some god but so little faith in people. if there was a god, he wouldn't be worth worshiping any way.

Don't go no where...stay where you are at in God.  At least, you are asking the questions that only God can answer.  You want to know God for yourself then be prepared to not be distracted. Wait on the Lord!  Smell the roses and drink the coffee and know that God is despite what you feel he has not done personally for you...yet. Remember God's word to apostle Paul "my grace is sufficient for thee" as Paul prayed for a healing yet God used him to heal others!  It can be mystery how God works but it is no mystery that  His Bible is before the whole earth! Study the life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and see the working of God among men.  I have written a poem titled "The Other Side of the Cross" that may help you visualize what God has done through Christ and is posted on my hub page. Some other poems are are posted there also that may lift your spirit.

The disciples walked with Jesus everywhere while He was casting out devils, walking on water, healing the sick and raising the dead.  When He was arrested, they fell behind and ran away.

Stay with Jesus, He will carry you through.  Cast your cares and burdens upon Him.

If God exists, it is evident to me that we are meant to be there for one another.

If God doesn't exist, I come to the same conclusion.

Don't ever stop reaching for support, and find the opportunities in your life where you can fulfill the same  needs you see in your life that exist in the lives of others.  We are the primary obstacle of happiness in our daily walk through life.

Watching the vultures hovering whilst trying to spew their venom and discourage you is distressing, but to be expected....

      1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

On a practical level, you are not alone and I have sent you out to my prayer chain.

That encompasses believers on three continents at least.

      Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

      Romans 8:28
      King James Version (KJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Stay with it sister, when we walk through the valleys, the mountain tops seem so far away, but when we regain the mountain tops, the valleys look so small.

Do you wonder why your prayers aren't answered? It's because there's nothing there to answer them. YOU are the only person who can make a difference in your life. If you want to feel better, stop waiting for a god to make you feel better, do something about it. Mama didn't make you breakfast this morning? Don't go hungry, make your own breakfast.

Well, to bring light into this otherwise useless load of replies, I having suffered depression all my life and having been delivered of it, would like to direct you to the teachings of Andrew Wommack. Here is a man who love God with all his heart and devotes himsel to helping us know God our selves. The problem is not that  God is not around ut that we have to learn to hear Him, He is a spirit and speaks to our spirit. i can assure you that He is real and loves you and allows these dry times for us to really find out if we truly want  Him or not. After all who wants someone just because they give you presents and run to you each time you call.? Most christians have not got a clue about having a relationship with God. Mainly due to false teaching the (church is full of it )or  selfishness.   If you listen each day to this guy , God will really make Himself known to yo beleive me. I enjoyed reading this.  I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that we have to learn to hear him.  Sometimes we are so busy complaining about what we don't have or want that we are not taking the time to stop and listen to what God wants for our lives.  And I love the part about the "dry times".  Those are the times when God is trying to teach us to lean on him rather than on our own abilities.  Wonderful reply!

Of course He's out there, if you want Him to be. Sometimes God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. Also, God whispers- sometimes His answer isn't obvious. Though I don't know what you're going through, the thing you have to worry about is you. You are the one who has to find the light at the end of the tunnel- just ask God to give a shove in the right direction.

I'm sorry you are lost and I wish you well with whatever you are dealing with. I'm not the type to say what someone should or shouldn't believe in but I will say that in most instances, believing in oneself is most powerful.

A lot of times I feel that people who believe in God and pray and try to live a Christian lifestyle have the same issues that people who don't have and just fit God into it to justify that it's there. That probably doesn't make sense. I just mean that if one prays for something and it happens, God did it. If it doesn't happen it is still God but it was God's decision. What did or didn't happen is still affecting you and you still have to make decisions on how to live your life. Again, I wish you well and hope you find what works for you and helps you live the way you want to.

Remember, when you ask believe you receive at that moment that you have received the it or whatever you asked for.  Test and see if it is not so!

First of all, I would like to emphasize that you are not being selfish  by wanting to feel at peace. You are wanting to feel better and to have peace of mind. Nothing selfish about that.
As far as God is concerned, I can't answer that question for you. And I'm not going to try to sound religious and holy and give you a Sunday School answer and tell you "this too shall pass" yada yada. My encouragement to you is...you're not a terrible person because you feel this way or because you doubt God or doubt what He's doing. Allow yourself to feel those things, to question, to doubt, and to discover answers. In the meantime, know that we are all here to support you and give you encouragement, whatever your spiritual conflict might be.

There is good out there and you ought to have it. The Presence of God is in everything, we just have to lift the veil of illusions that blocks what we should be seeing. Be still and know that you are who you are... an extension of God's Creation. Focus on your innermost feeling and you will know.

Sometimes it helps to stop thinking, stop believing and stop trying to analyse. Allow whatever you are feeling  to flow in, through and out without judging or over analysing. Accept whatever as it flows through just as it is and then let it all go. The river of life is meant to flow. If we impede it's flow by thinking, judging, believing and analysing we are restricting this natural flow and can often feel out of beat with this natural flow.

Listen to Rascal Flatts...He sings country music however his lyrics are about what loving God can do... I am bipolar and lost my computer to a restore a few weeks ago, I was in the middle of a hypomanic phase and my husband treated it with the most love, caring and support I think I have ever witnessed since we have been together. He did no judge me for the things I said during this and well, I have never been loved like this in my life until he came. God always sends us what we need, maybe not all we want in this world, like posessions. We make it through the most impossible looking situations every day in one way or another, always coming out the winner, with God in our relationships, We have 2 children,, adults who do not want to and do not see us for one reason or another, yet we come out on top always knowing that when the time is right we will see them. These are only two instances where we  could give up and never have happiness. Find out what makes you and your family the most joyful, content and hang on. You will find a way, God is there....I have been in places where I just knew I would never make it through, and something always happens to prove me wrong. Thank Goodness. Check out the book Dave Pelzer wrote...think of your life and his back in the 60's and you might just find God waiting for you. I have read all of his books and can say I always see more miracles on the pages Dave writes.

Aye, SchooGirlforreal, I think I got your name right as the page comes up different and I'm not a regular on the forums, I got this in a prayer request a few days back and I don't know if it has worked out for you but I always have room for more on my list.
The recommendation that was given by Ms. Minton is a solid rock to build your Faith upon.
Rascal Flats is a sinner like me and all who post, but the blessings he brings to hearts will certainly bring light to your day every thing he puts forth seems to touch the spirit that is in me so I'll make the second vote and if you listen to him through out the day, with prayer that is a whole day of just walking and talking to Jesus while listening to Rascal I cannot believe you will not find peace come over you. It is just letting go and letting God into your heart that the Holy Spirit will boost your feelings toward a better day. I believe as I was taught that God knows before we ask what we need as he also knows what we want. Needs will keep you wants not so much and that is where I found my line in the sand and taught myself the difference. I have been blessed at different times in my travels to get a landslide of cash and spent it foolishly but what it bought has accrued in value and now I work at selling it off at a price half of the new profits giving the other half to the needy. It seems that I give away and it comes back as a never ending cycle. It reminds me of the 5 fish and 2 loafs of bread that fed the masses who came to listen to Jesus preach of the place he has for us, and arriving to that place is what really is what I need there is nothing I can carry out of this existence, A good song learned and sung as you work through each day for me has been a blessing, I hope you find your even ground on which to stand.
      May the Blessings be,
      50

I have no wish to make you doubt your personal faith. I do however want you to read this quote.
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish."
Do for yourself what you feel you are not receiving from your God. It is our jobs to make ourselves happy, to fix our own problems, and to get over any hurdles along the way. Anything more is simply extra. There is a huge difference between caring for ourselves and being selfish.

...Moses may have been able to pray for water- and others prayed for other things. However, that's OT religion and most of it no longer holds true. That being said, you will not find me praying for fish tongue That seems more like the "divine healing" type religions.

Yes but the moral of that quote is that if you want something you get it. You don't ask someone or something (a god) and sit and wait for it. In life we must do for ourselves no matter the faith or lack of.

Exactly. I just wanted to make it known that God doesn't want us to sit on our butts and wait (I have run into many "christians" who believe they can). We have to be willing to work for everything we have, the good things in life are never handed to us on a silver platter.

Not one of us- any human- can say we have not been t/here, SG. And it is not selfishness on your part to desire health, peace of mind, etc. Selfishness is simply a condition of having no desire to be of use, assistance, giving to any other human being.

If I were to say all you needed to do was thorough accept you were designed to be healthy, happy, peaceful, would you believe me? From experience, it is exactly moments like these that define the perception of ourselves in relation to Creator and one another. Where religion and science take over. Sure, some call that moment the space between light and dark. That gray area. In that moment practical faith and reason battle it out to determine the outcome. Reason says, something is wrong, how can I, or who can fix it -god, the doctor, the demon Vishnu? Practical faith says, "Hold up! what is this thing trying to effect me, when it shouldn't? How dare it even consider effecting me! I was not created to be sick, unhappy, whatever." At this instance, what others call prayer becomes obvious, relevant. The power, called ruach, in you returns to its Sender, and wham! if those words match up, creation happens and reason runs for the hills.

James Allen reminds us nicely, "Whatever a person meditates on, day & night, in their heart, they become/reflect. And whatever a person meditates on, they say. whatever they say, they receive. The best summary of that is seed-harvest. Ever hear someone say, "Oh my God, I think I'm coming down with something!"? or "This is never gonna work out" or who refuse to speak up at all. These are just examples of our own reasoning screwing us over.

It sounds aloof, I know. But it isn't a T Robbins hypnotic chant nor some pseudo babble of religious textual. No candles, melodious music or crazy club dance required. It is simply accepting and 'confessing' what is actually the Truth. The circumstance may look -by every possible viewpoint- to be inescapable, impossible odds. That, to me, is the beauty of creation. Everything we are seeing, by reason, is impossible! No better time than the present to put that practicality to the test and find out if Creator is out there, or in there.

    James.

God helps those who help themselves,  you have untapped potential...we all do, and, it does seem the darkest before the dawn. If the prophecies are to be believed, then, in truth, we live in the darkest times mankind has ever experienced, and there are many who would that you walk away from the light. Hold fast. Hold fast. Look to the strength within you, that strength you don't acknowledge you have.

To Emile....the words you say tell me that you have found what others have searched for and did not find. Your comments always show how much has been revealed to you. It is very true that whether God exists or not, we are still in a mess that all of our human emotions have caused, all of our human actions are the crows that are coming home to roost...and I firmly believe that if we don't care enough to clean things up, then, we really aren't worth saving. I offer to you, that, from the beginning of our kind, we are where we are because we constantly prove to be adaptable...more than the sum of our parts.

The Bible says that when you have done all else to stand.  Sometimes God is trying to teach you patience.  It is not ours to figure out why God is not answering our prayers in the timely fashion that we believe he should.  Trust me...my husband and i struggle with this daily it seems lately.  Sometimes there is a bigger picture that we have to wait and let unfold.  If you believe in God then let your strength be strong and don't be swayed by others opinions.  YOU know the relationship that you have with Christ.  I have found sometimes that my prayers tend to lean towards asking for what I want or need rather than asking for Gods will to come to pass.  Sometimes his will and ours are two very different things and we have to change our expectations.  It only takes a small bit of doubt to pull you away from God and unfortunately the internet is laden with people who are ready to put that doubt in your head. When you find yourself falling into doubt about whether God is there, get in the Book.  Read it and open your heart and listen to him through it.  You will find peace.  As for people who claim to not believe...I read something once that seemed to sum it up completely.  "For those who believe, no explanation is necessary.  For those who do not, none will suffice."  Remember that Christ said he would never "leave nor forsake you" and that when you are in doubt you only need faith the size of a mustard seed for God to move in your life.  Good luck and keep praying!

Pay no attention to those who marvel over their shell, that they want not to break. Its a pleasant world in there with nobody to answer to but themselves. If you want the easy and lazy way out stay in the shell. If not, be prepared to be broken and stripped of pride and so forth.

Aknowleding there is a God is aknowleding its not "all" about your self. A servant of humanity has its limits, as it expects reciprocation. A servant of God has no expectation, and relies on grace from Gods provision. If someone throws you a crumb of bread and you are starving, seek and give to another who is hungry. Our sacrifices are miniscule compared to Gods, wich is another trait not seen by servants of man "only".

Non seer's How can i say where is my mother now, arent i not a grown man. To some the gift of life is not enough proof. If God manifested in the flesh, again, and showed up on your door step with a big check and or made your troubles disapear. What then would you ask of God. Furthermore would you say where were you all this time, or would you say why would you be involved in things like this. Because intervention with my fleshly soon to rot body is taking away from time with someone elses. May comfort and peace abide within you. God is, because you are.
