I can tell you what they should have in common but I don't know what they all have in common. I know all religions should be a pathway to the world beyond the living that there's more out there. They should also be all about tolerance, forgiveness, and love for humanity and animals.
As far as commonality goes, I would have to say they all believe in a higher power whether a god/s or a some sort of spiritual being. I don't know if that applies in every single religion but I assume something greater and beyond the norm is very common among them all.
For me, the most fundamental thing all religions have in common is the belief in the existence of a higher being.
Not only all religions believes on superior being, all religion have a common thing inside. Hypocrisy lives in the heart of every religion around the world. The sinful nature of man produces evil inside. Whatever the looks and image of all religion, fake lives inside. It create a cancer of pride, envy, jealousy and greed.
Religions have some specific things in common like the way they usually pray and their rituals.
Simple; faith.
We could have said "The Belief of one Almighty" God, if we were talking simply about Christianity, Judaism and Islam because all three believe that there is one and only God, and He is who created us all.
But when it comes to all religions, it's a different story, For example, Buddhists believe that there are hundreds of different Gods. But still, they believe.
If considering atheism; they believe there is no such thing as a God/s. No religions. They believe.
Now see what we have in common; belief. Faith. People of each and every religion has faith in what they know and what they've been taught, and thus they chose it as a way of life, or what we call as religion. Their faith in whether it is Allah, or Krishna or Jesus or Muhammed is what they have in common.
P.S. I did not include equality, peace, justice and such as it's my opinion that these values are more humane than religious. They are what we have in common because we are all human beings and not because of the religion we follow.
I think that all people have faith in a god. which is the owner of universe and .
A human yearning to know the unknowable, to understand what evades us. Every religion, at it's core, seeks to provide explanation, or comfort in the 'X' factor of human existence. A great read on the subject - "Man Seeks God" by Eric Weiner, about an agnostic's spiritual and physical journey through lands enriched by religious history. A wonderful perspective on faiths the world over.
All REAL religions share these, among other things, that I'm sure I will miss:
Love God (includes worship)
Love and respect for your fellow humans
Respect and protection of the environment and animals (God's creation)
All religions address a subjective perception of the right way to live, as well as theories which are presented as fact regarding death and consciousness, AKA the "soul"
All religions have in common in coping for living, death of love ones, and others like life after death. Also, they share in how life begins and ends.
I think they all deal with a higher power/entity that regulates a moral compass. Laying down a deity that when followed you become a better person in this life and the next.
the most common things are the ideas and faith and belonging to deities i guess ......
Yes, ideas and faith are most important as Omer mentioned
Others may not like my answer, but all religions are created by humans. No other animal on the planet has religion except the human being.
All religions have a pattern of seeking guidance for living from a "greater being". From my studies of religion, the consistent theme seems to be seeking out the greater purpose of life. In some religions, that is played out as serving others. In other religions, the focus is intentionally living life to it's fullest, whatever the follower deems that to be. Many of the historically predominant religions focus on seeking out a deity that guides how life is lived. If the follower lives in such a manner, they are rewarded with some form of life after death in some type of heavenly realm.
Do good, and good will come to you. Be kind towards other humans.
I wish this were true for religion throughout history. This is how we should all live. However, I would alter it and say, "Be kind towards all in the world and to nature."Humans are destroying the world and people have killed in the name of religion.
I think we have to distinguish between religions sent to prophets in form of oral words or scripts such as judaism ;moses ten commendments ,Christianism ;Jesus bible, Islam ;Mohamd Quran, and other religions man created them. Religions seek the truth ,monotheism ,moral values, justice , guidance to happiness and welfare for sure they answer the gloomy part of our life and after death.
Believers
That is my answer, but Hub Pages insists on something longer so I am adding this sentence to repeat my one word answer -- believers.
The concept of the God is common in all the religions though some religions don't preach the God directly as Hinduism, and Budhism but major religions as Islam, Christianity, and the Jewism accept and preach the God directly, the concept of the birth and the death is also common among all the religions and no religion denies of death
Religions all have a common theme. Some belief in a creator, god, gods or divine power greater than humanity that gave texts and words through prophets and noble scholars. I think disciples is what Christianity called them in the bible. I think that they also have a moral code of some sort to live by and to teach. Many religions have spreading the word of their faith as part of the religion converting many others for the purpose of bring more followers. Some religions have afterlife philosophies and mention what happens to the soul after the body dies. Many believe in unification of men and women and speak of the holiness of this union. I think that would have changed given the relationship structures now. Religion has themes and patterns if you study your own you can apply many of them to other religions without any issues. Some speak of sacrifices as well and work in order to be a believer.
The distinguishing characteristic of religion is faith in the existence of a deity. That's what makes them religions instead of ideologies.
Believers in the faith, and there is one god for all people
One god for all religions , That is all
And we should love each other
All religen has one thing in command, that is they all want to be happy and live they way god or whoever you pray to intended for us to live.Everyone one wants to be able to see there family members that has passed away. I have been to a lot of churches in my time that is what I have learned growing up, and through my years in church. I hope that helps you.
For me in God.we believe in one God but the problem is in different way.....but i know that theres only one God who loves us unconditional....
All religions have one very important thing in common: they're all fiction.
that they are all just a religion. these days religion seems to be just like a fad or genre
all religious people want to be accepted as good and not evil and they follow the path that was taught to them.
" HOPE for a good future "
Everybody goes to the church, mosque or temples with a ray of hope that their difficulties would be vanished. All religions give the inner strength to all human beings to struggle through their hard times.
all religion share this great faith of having and worshiping one Almighty God and that every body must enter 6ft to settle their account here on earth before this Great God
The purpose of religion, and the lack thereof, is to support or dispute claims about the universe. Such as, our purposes in life, our deaths, what we should do in our lives, and our role in the larger universe. Of course, these not only vary across religions, but across individuals as well. It's all up to interpretation, and it's anyone's game at this point.
they all believe that there is ONE who as create us
this answer is not that much use full but it is simple as i can make
Sakina, though your answer is simple but beautiful
Worshiping. The ways may be different, god may be different but we all worship in our own ways.
The biggest thing that all the religions have in common is Faith and no matter witch is your religion, as long as you believe you live.
Love binds us all together and is the common denominator in all religions. The Bible says that God is Love.
Really all religion have large difference on the fact of their:
1°) worship
2°) praying
3°) dressing
4°) eating
5°) etc
but in common, their get same God
They have kernels of truth shrouded in mysteries that only someone else can explain.
The ultimate aim of all religion is to create spiritual enlightment among its followers.I guess the purpose, basic teachings about life, ultimate goal everything is common in case of all religions.I guess it is better to pinpoint the difference rather as there are few of it.The difference lies in the picture of god whom we worship and the the way prayers are offered and some few of little little things.
Someone who made them up.... and followers to keep them alive. A forgotten God is a dead god.
they all have common norms and values that they follow according to the basis of their religion . people belonging from all the religions have all types of classes : lower, middle , elite
Every religion has a leader who offers guidelines on how to live your life in accordance to their personal beliefs. Generally, most religions consist of saying if we follow the rules we'll enjoy the after life and vice-versa.
As a Catholic, we have the Pope. When I was a Southern Baptist, there was no spiritual leader. The Southern Baptist Convention elected a leader, who offered suggestions, appointed committees, but did not set rules on issues of faith.
I mean more like Jesus, as in somebody within the lore of the religion who set rules that are now governed by people like The Pope. But that Southern Baptist Convention sounds interesting, how often did a new leader get elected?
I have been a Catholic for more than 25 years now, so the memory is a little hazy. I think it was for multi-year terms (two or maybe four). Baptists turn to Jesus and state they are a New Testament Church. Tithing calls in the Old Testament.
All religions talk of a heaven and a hell and Jesus and have their Holy Book and prayers. Even Muslims talk of Jesus. Roman Catholics, of which is was for 7 years, have a few more books in their Bible than the other religions. Not all books are in there though and not everything is written in them and they all share that.
Every single one has an alter and fasting and holiday festivities. There isn't much difference in them at all.
All religions (If by "religions" you imply theistic religions) have in common the existence of one or multiple dieties who are believed to be capable of performing certain miracles through interference(also called teophany) in their worshippers' lives. All religions have specific scriptures that are regarded as moral, spiritual and social guides by their adepts.
All religion should teach good etiquette and good moral ... but .. what happens now is to show 'good moral within the religion' and not to people of another religious believe ... So sad !!
All Religions has three things common all talk about the Hope Fear and Duty.
Answers.
Ever since the beginning of man we have had a thirst for knowledge. We asked so many deep and philosophical questions, and had no good way of answering them, so we made it up. Answers to questions like, "When and how did it all begin?". These questions were all the more perplexing and agonizing to early people, because they had no way of answering them definitively.
