Religion or no, can we please agree to disagree and live happily?? I'm not asking for Utopia, but let's begin to mind our own business and accept people for who they are, not what they believe or agree or disagree with. This doesn't seem so hard, I don't know why it is.
Worry about yourself and your own life. Begin to search deeper in those around you, don't just focus on surface beliefs.
Please, agree to disagree, and live happily. Mind your own business and accept people for who they are. It's all in your own hands, no need to instruct others what they should or should not do
No worries. Until someone starts telling me that I'm going to burn in hell and be eaten by immortal worms. At that point, I will explain, politely, that the person is stupid and sick. OK?
You mean, there are man-eating immortal worms in hell? Uh oh, I'm in trouble!
Look up Mark 9:43 to 9:45
It is a sick doctrine.
I am new to HubPages and look forward to occasionally writing and replying to various forum subjects. This is 1 I'd like to offer my own personal belief. I am not a religious person. I consider myself to be very spiritual. I was raised Christian as well as with Native American Spiritual Teachings. I studied world religions in college. I also believe in Reincarnation and the Divine Universal Law of Karma. You don't have to believe in Reincarnation to know that Karma does exist and operates accordingly, here and now. We are all mirrors of and for each other as well as the universe. We and the universe will reflect back what we think, say and do. For every thought, there is an action. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. "What ye sow, so shall ye reap." What goes around, comes around, full circle, three fold. I was allowed exposure to all good paths. My childhood friend is Orthodox Jew and I was allowed to sometimes go to Temple with he and his parents. Kabbalistic Teachings of the Zohar also state God has a female aspect known as Shekinah. It is an all loving, encompassing, enveloping, nurturing, protective, manifestible White Light of God. I have friends whom are also Wiccan, Buddhist, Native, Sunni Muslim, Sikh and Hindu. We are all individual souls with lessons and Divine Purposes to fulfill. Whatever path we are borne into or choose later in life, that is what level our soul is at for the moment. God(dess)/Creator gave us Free Will which is another Divine Gift and does not interfere with it because it will determine how our souls progress/regress. God knows we are souls that are progressing and evolving. God(dess)loves all of us. We are all fragments of the 1 greater Whole. Our Omni Potent Essence. This is my personal belief. I have taught this to our children so they may also teach and pass on to future generations. There is too much hate and contempt in this world. I refuse to spread more of it. My conscience is clear.
Well Mish....Have to say I agree with you here...Can't we get along? We can, if we are willing to say, let's agree to disagree, and leave it at that....I've done this more than once, and I would have, on the other forum (new age thingy), but there were too many trying to put words in my mouth so I backed out....That's a wise move too, lol!!
Peace!!
I'd settle for religious discussions which did not devolve into "You suck" "No you suck" type arguments.
I would love peace everywhere. I'd also love to win the lottery, catch an unicorn, but it isn't going to happen.
If we all agree to disagree, what the hell can we post about?
I have to admit, there are some folks in the forum who are just completely out of control. In another thread (which shall remain nameless but was not a religious thread), I have been called "bitchy", "narrow-minded", a "grumpy old lady" who is "stuck in my ways", and has had someone wish me bodily harm. (Thank you, Misha, for stepping in.) And all of this because my opinion on the subject was not their opinion. Good Lord!
There were some people on the other side of the fence who didn't get out of control and debated well, but not many. One who I do admire and respect came in, stated her case, did not get emotional or personal, made a well thought-out argument and that was about it. (Thanks Alexadry!)
So tell me, what is WRONG with these people???
They are not secure in their argument. They are afraid you are going to change their narrow minds.
Misha, you are looking for trouble here!
Misha is HOPING for trouble, as long as it's from one of the incomparable HubLadies!
You are right about one thing, Misha. There's always hope!
So the pretense is a camouflage, dear Misha?
Only fish suck...and leeches...and vacuums...and drinking out of a straw......
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however, it does not mean that one has to agree with it.
lol
Wonder if they all got together if they would create a sucking whirlpool..... lol
I like that idea Beth. Gotta think how to implement it
LOL Sometimes she does. She's a wise woman, she has no problem with me flirting
Nice! You are one of the straightest talkers here. I don't always agree with you, but that never seems to worry you thankfully.
Come on over...I have one made out of ICF...the latest and greatest....
I will, thank you. And what is ICF?
International Coach Federation?
International Classification of Functioning?
International Canoe Federation?
I like those, how about these:
Intellectually Controlling Forums
Invoking Conscience Forms
But seriously, this is what the acronym is for:
Insulated Concrete Forms
You can build anything out of these...but there are newer and better products on the market now.
You are boring Julie
Don't have anything to report though, despite trying

Why can't atheist and Christians agree to disagree? Will atheist and Christians ever just agree to disagree?

Why ask a controversial question of others whom you do not agree with?I'd like to know what the point of this is? Do you want to learn, cause arguments or claim persecution? There have been quite a few from a number of people, like this. I'm confused, particularly due to the responses of the...

Why can't Christians and atheists agree to disagree?Atheists don't want any references or reminders of Christianity in public places. There is a cross at the New York twin towers which atheists says makes them mentally and physically ill. There is a cross at Camp Pendleton they want...

Excellence is a Standard, Not a Goal, Agree or Disagree?I feel excellence is a standard that you live, accepting nothing lower. It is not a goal that you try to achieve and accept something less. Always be the best! Do you agree or disagree?
