   The book of Revelation; Is it already happening?
   
   I have been reading and listening to the book since I woke up today -- My question is, has some of it already taken place? If so, where were we at right now? I know we haven't reached the mark of the beast. I believe that to be some form of technology that will be implanted in us when they do away with money. I am just trying to figure out where we are.

      No offense, but If your idea of the big "A" anti-Christ is anyone other than Nero, you are way off mark. You are interpreting Scripture without a knowledge of history, understanding of "last days", and little awareness of the first-century church.

   As bad as things are right now, I think times are going to get worse before we can consider it the "end times". This is strictly my opinion, but for someone to be considered the Anti-Christ, they would have to be greatly powerful. I think the Anti-Christ is going to be someone who is feared by EVERYONE and not just a few nations. So, I don't think we are there yet, but I do see how people could feel as if we are in those times.
   
   When I read things like the flood, the parting of the seas, turning the ocean into blood, I look around and don't see things of that magnitude happening - supernatural things - unlike things ordinary men can do, like shooting and killing people. I think in the end times, life as we know it now will not be the same. Remember Romans 14:11 - 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow to me and every tongue will confess allegiance to God.'  We are nowhere near those times... yet.

      I don't think we are at the point of the seven angels yet. There is still plenty of grass and clean water... But, I think some of revelation prior to that has taken place, just hard figuring it out.

   Child is killing parent, no respect for authority, HIV/AIDS,horrendous weather changes,mass killings - drive-by random shootings,SEX gone every whichway, Homosexuals getting married legally, the Churches are having Sex crimes,
   Economy collapsing,oil spills with other toxins,animals are getting extinct,casinos galore,guns everywhere, pornography,children being victimized by sex, Television adverisement is unbelievable to a generation go,Cancers,diabetes,obesity,prisons bursting at the seams,Welfare/Food Stamps/Medicaid at an all-time high,unemployment hitting the roof,so many different churches - they now look like storefronts, -  I would say we have approached past the mid-way point to the bitter end and I believe the end will very hard to bear.

      I forgot to mention drug use.  When we have the mini-micro computer chip implanted into our bodies - to me this would represent the Mark of the Beast - for buying and selling plus all our personal vital information is given for government control.

      Sounds like you just described the condition before the Flood of Noah 6,000 years ago and the fruits of Sodom and Gomorrah 3,500 years ago. I think what you are seeing Deb, is a cyclical human condition that regenerates and perpetuates itself.

   The Christian Church is now in the Age of the Gentiles. The time is drawing near, when God will re-assemble the Jews, now the modern Israelites, where St. Paul said God will gather them all in the last days, and bring them back to Palestine, to the land God promised to give to the descendants of Abraham. When that day happens, there will be a terrible shaking of the very foundation of Heaven and Earth. That will be the sign of the judgment of God. It has been prophesied as the coming of the Day of the Lord. The Jews who rejected Jesus as their Christ or Messiah, will not be able to enter into the rest of God, until they themselves behold the Second Coming of Jesus Christ on earth. The center of conflict will be the city of David of Jerusalem, where God said He will judge all the nations.

   Revelation is a letter written to churches in Anatolia in a Middle Eastern literary tradition today called Apocalyptic Literature. There are other examples of that style in the Old Testament. It was included in the Biblical Codex in the fourth century due to its representative value and its theme, which is to keep the faith regardless of how difficult it may be. It also serves as a bookend for the Codex, describing mankind's reconciliation with God just as Genesis describes its alienation from Him.
   
   The mark of the beast is a symbol of the Emperor Nero, a terrifying figure to early Christians, one many thought had returned in spirit to motivate the persecution then underway by the Emperor Domitian. He required a permit to do business of any kind, and to get one people had to go to his officers and swear to worship him as a god. Christians could not do that, and so they were banned from buying or selling anything, including food and other necessities. Many of them were dying as a result. Those who took the permits, which is to say who accepted what John calls the mark of the beast, were considered sellouts by the rest.
   
   The book of Revelation deals with events that were happening then. It is not a prophecy of the future. It has nothing to do with the end of time. What it describes is not happening now. It happened two millennia ago.

      from what I understand, history repeats itself. And I don't believe Revelations had completely happened yet. Theres alot that must take place. We certainly are not in heaven and the earth has not been restored to that of Eden.

      I don't know of online synopses, but the commentaries by Robert Thomas and R.H. Charles are good. Your local library may have them, and could get them on loan if they don't.

      Indeed, the "Mark of the Beast" was really what the Roman world called a "libelus". It was a document that one had to carry around in order to buy or sell or even to secure employment. It required one to burn incense in Caesar's name and pray to him.

      What Attikos stated so lucidly is true!   Historic research has substantiated that it is Nero who was identified as the anti-Christ.    This emperor was quite virulent in his persecution of Christians.    The Book of Revelation was of that time!

   Not yet,according to the increase of spiritual knowledge Daniel 12 v 4. The opening of the First of the 7 hidden seals by Jesus Christ have not been open.
   It consist of the binding of Satan for a 1000 years......perfection of spirits.....and the re-establishment of the church,,just to name a few of what is to occur therein.
   
   The first part of Revelations refer to Christ messages to the Churches.That is the only part that refer to our present status.

   In my opinion the mark of the beast is already here, we just aren't using it in our arms yet.
   
   I believe the mark of the beast can be connected to RFID chips.  Eventually the goal is to have RFID chips implanted into our arm which we will use for money.
   
   Everything about us will be programmed into these chips and the government will be able to shut off your chip at their discretion.
   
   There are even people who willingly implanted RFID technology into their arm already.

    The Book of Revelation was written in or around the year 62 A.D. and distributed for the early Christians to utilize for their immediate benefit...not for ours.
    
    The Book of Revelation was not meant to warn a people far away in time and space, but to serve a practical purpose, which was warning the early Church of the Great Tribulation of Nero that would soon be coming their way and threatened the very existence of the early church.
    
    The "rapture" that so many contemporary Christians hope for, was the warning to the early Church, such that, when they saw the evil that was coming their way, that they would flee to the mountains of Pella to the east of Judea and out of harm's way. This was necessary so the early church would survive the Great Tribulation, grow, flourish, and spread across the entire planet.
    
    Christians of our day don't study history and do not understand Biblical contexts. And it really is a shame, for great misunderstanding and needless anxiety is the result.
    
    I believe we are living in, what the Bible refers to as, "the age to come". Having said that, we will always be surrounded by evil as long as people seek their own way instead of following Christ Jesus and His teachings.
    
    Do not worry, Brittles, your faith is secure in the unshakable character of Christ and your spirit is comprised of virtue and courage and not one of fear. The Lord told us that the gates of Hell will never prevail...and I believe Him.  :0)

       JThomp: The facts are all around. The fact is, if people read the Bible for meaning, many of their problems would be solved. Then, if they looked into the historical records and studied the first century church, the Bible would become more clear.

       If it already happened then how is the earth in this condition? Where is the new city God promised his children? The earth was to be restored to that of the garden of Eden. All evil is certainly not destroyed.

        I am not sure how to understand the book of Revelation, but other books speak of very similar things that must come to pass. I believe we are already in the end of times based on technology, growing knowledge and loss of spirituality.

        Brittles: Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world." The New Jerusalem is not here. Please read Luke 21:20-24. In these passages Jesus is describing Roman General, Cestius Gallus, who surrounded Jerusalem in 66 A.D. He then left mysteriously.

        I understand, love, but that is not what Jesus was saying. He also told us He was going to prepare a place for us...but if it was here, why did He have to go? Indeed, children of God belong to God and are not bound to this world spiritually.

        I understand, Brittles, but it's about context. Jesus did not tell Pilate that His kingdom is not like Rome's in thought, word, or deed...He told Pilate that it aint even on the same planet. "In My Father's house are many mansions." Is Heaven here?

        Honestly, Brittles, you need to read the works of Flavius Josephus. He was a Jewish priest and military commander during the Great Tribulation. He was also a prolific writer and was captured by the Romans prior to Jerusalem's fall in A.D. 70.

    Why couldn't the book of Revelation be speaking of now? I don't understand where you people are getting it already happened. If it happened, 80% of the people walking this earth would probably be in hell (NOT TO BE JUDGMENTAL!) I think it is speaking of the governments. If you learned anything from history its that it repeats itself. The great tribulation and the end of evil on the earth clearly did not happen. I don't get where all of this is coming from. Jesus did not return with his army of angels to destroy the wicked... The earth was never restored... I can go on and on..

    In order to understand the Ending One Must First fully Understand the Beginning
    In order for the Book of Revelation Or The Reveal To Make Known You must Keep in Mind where and when this is taking Place The Book Tells you slow down read it several times. Keep In mind It is talking about What John the apostle saw and seen on the Lords Day and Just Prior to It.  It was a message a partial one to some and a warning to give to the Types of Religions Claiming to Be of Christs (the Churches) Only two found favor and the other Five were warned.
    
    Seven Lights of the world (Religions) that are Christ Like only Two found Favor
    These Lights you must under stand have all Fallen From Heaven because they are Here on earth If you don't Understand that we have all Fallen and this is why we are in the flesh in the first place It is Hard to understand the Book.
    
    The Beast coming out of the Sea is or will be a Political System that is not yet Here a one world Government The False prophet Is also a system A one world Religious system which is Not Yet fully here The Great whore Is one That is Here and Helps usher in This New one world religious System. The Anti-Christ Is Satan Incarnate in his God Given body pretending to be Christ Our Lord Jesus.
    
    Satan will Follow the Coming Of Two Great witnesses They are Not Here Yet we all will Here or maybe even see Satan's return. These are some key things to keep in mind when reading This Book of Revelation It Means to reveal or to make Known It Is the only Book which Comes with an extreme warning about Tampering with As to those who would teach it or Scribe It.  I need to do a hub On this from the Story's Points of View.     It is my PERSONAL belief that the " debit card" was the percursor to the mark of the beast.   The common EU currency is the natural follower.........now, Greece is rethinking her position........

    As for now; we are living the 5th seal. And the 6th seal will only be opened after the numbers of people who are persecuted for the name of Jesus are complete.
    
    1st) The WHITE HORSE- unleashing Deception and Lawlessness (Anti Christ). To throw followers of Christ into a state of division by diverting them from the ancient truth, stirring troubles with false miracles, prophecy and world religion. The RIDER carry a bow without arrows; He conquests by confusing Jesus' followers and steer them from the truth and towards perverse and dark teachings (what is not of God).
    2nd) The FIERY RED HORSE-the rider unleashes by his a sword; the shedding of blood from (what is assumed) natural disasters, wars, terrorism etc.
    3rd) THE BLACK HORSE-unleashes sicknesses and diseases, famines and such.
    4th) (The last Apocalyse horsemen) the PALE HORSE-Death followed closely by Hades. -unleasing sudden deaths.
    
    The FIFTH Seal is persecution of the church of Jesus Christ (Rev.6:9-11). Until the number of their fellow brothers who will be killed as they are, the saints of old must wait under the altar (emphasis are mine). Read also Rev.6:12-17.

       Scripture in Revelations states. 'Come and See'.  This I connect to pornography, violence all around especially in entertainment,horrific sex crimes even with children,morality has gone by the wayside.  This could be the start to a broken seal?

    "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place;"  Revelation 1:1
    
    "Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near."  Revelation 1:3.
    
    "And he said to me, 'Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near."  Revelation 22:10.
    
    Jesus Christ said that the end of the world would come at an hour which no one would expect (Luke 12:40).  If Christ said we wouldn't expect the time, why then would he give us a book that supposedly gives us signs of when the end of the world will take place?  This is not the purpose of Revelation.  There are no signs for the ends of the world, Revelation was a book written about the persecution from the Roman Empire and the vengeance of God that would fall on the Roman Empire for their sin.  It was meant to comfort Christians going through this tough time.  That being said, there's much we can take from this great book.  But it in no way gives us "signs" for the end of the world.

       I know that phrases like "the time is near", "must soon take place" and "Yes, I am coming soon", gives a clear indication that Christ was talking about a major event on the near horizon, but He must have been fooling around and yanking our chain. :0)
