Best 5 DVD Players For 2013

Updated on August 22, 2013

The DVD was very successful and the DVD players will be around us for some more time. However DVD is not a high-definition format.

Although DVD has superior resolution and image quality when compared to standard cable television, it is still only half the resolution of HDTV.

The DVD players output video in standard NTSC 480i (720x480 interlaced scan) or 480p (720x480 progressive scan).

On newer DVD players manufacturers have introduced upscaling capabilities to maximize the quality of DVD for display on today's HDTVs.

To match the physical pixel count on an HDTV (which can be 720p, 1080i or 1080p) the upscaling process mathematically matches the pixel count of the DVD signal.
