Best 5 LED Flat Screen TV For 2013

Updated on August 22, 2013

LED televisions are LCD televisions that use LED lights for back lighting instead of the flourescent lighting used for LCDs.

The back lighting can be edge lighting (LEDs around the edge of the panel) or local dimming (banks of LED lights behind the panel).

The use of LED back lighting has improved the performance of the LCD televisions.

It has been possible to manufacture thinner panel televisions with less power consumption, brighter display with better

contrast levels and also generate less heat than ordinary LCD televisions.

Traditional LCD televisions are available in sizes ranging from 15 to 65 inches, while LED televisions are available in sizes ranging from 46 to 70 inches.

When comparing the price of LED televisions with LCDs of similar size, the LED flat screens are more expensive due to the higher cost of the back lighting system.
