I got me a Bubblews troll

There have been queries about Bubblews, is it worthwhile? I'd say yes in my experience so far. It does fall down slightly with not having a forum section, so trolls don't have that outlet to let off steam.

Tonight my posts have been disliked over 200 times, apparently by three different users who all joined today, and have no content. Odd coincidence, don't you think? This just after an account was removed. That person had disliked a lot of my posts, demanded to know why I wasn't following him, and copied work. Ironically it wasn't me who reported him, as the link wasn't working.

I didn't respond to the people/person directly, but may have made an error in publishing a bubble saying why so many dislikes were appearing. Now another bubbler who commented on the post is being flooded with dislikes.

As many hubbers are also bubblers, I wondered if anyone else has had problems like this? I won't be commenting to the troll(s.) I've learned that much from reading forums here.

Hope you don't mind me posting this here. As I say, many hubbers also use Bubblews. It's nice to think other online writers will understand my frustration.

Sure does, I had ONE who created an account just to troll me.  All you have to do is report to Bubblews Administration, that's all.  Don't respond to the person, ignore, and report him/her to Bubblews Adminisration.

I looked at Bubblews, but it reminded me too much of face book so I never joined.  I would love to know the ages of the trolls who are tormenting you.  My guess would be they are most likely around 12 year old's.  If they are older than 12, they have some growing up to do.

Old Poolman. they all say 20 years old. One had a sex change and moved from India to Florida within ten  minutes. S(he) will hopefully write about this experience.

I understand your facebook comment, it is different from writing here, but money talks. Some folk say they haven't been paid. I've had no problem.

        Good to hear from you.

Perhaps the "new" 12 is now 20 since many of them are still living with their mommy and daddy until they are in their 30's..  They are either lying about their age or are very immature.  I just don't have time for that kind of behavior.

It's bizarre, agreed. Two more characters have appeared, one imaginatively called "disliker." Hope they find a good psychiatrist.

I'm sorry you got caught up in it. As you said, though, in a way it was better to get loads of dislikes at once rather than the odd one, and be left wondering why. I'm up to 260 now. He's reincarnated at least five times.

It seems to me that the owners of the website could see who is doing this and block them from the site.  Perhaps a rule change to where a new member can't vote for 30 days would fix the Troll issue.

I enjoy Bubblews and so far haven't had any trouble with trolls. But I will say one thing-the HP staff is very responsive and quick to assist when we have those problems.  Unfortunately, I have not had much response to questions or inquiries to the Bubblews admin. I hope that changes.

I'm not sure if it's true but someone told me you also get paid for dislikes.

Thankfully, I only have 2. But they came after I reported the person for spam, his/her account was removed.

    1. innerspin profile image90
innerspinposted 11 years agoin reply to this

I think it may be true. It's a bit annoying that likes and comments made by someone are removed if they are banned, but dislikes stay. Where's the logic in that?

  5. duffsmom profile image61
    duffsmomposted 11 years ago

It is true. When you go to redeem there is a little explanation of what we get paid for and yes, we also get paid for dislikes.  If you remove the post that has the dislikes, the dislikes disappear as well. then you could tweak a sentence or two and repost it.

    1. innerspin profile image90
innerspinposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Lol, it's hardly worth the bother, they covered too many posts. Anyway, I thought you were penalized for deleting things, the bank remove any money paid out from what I've heard. Not to worry. I know it wasn't personal as the troll hit other people as well.

  6. weekend profile image60

I hope the vast number of 'dislikes' doesn't lead to Bubblews accusing you of breaching rule two: "Abusing our likes/views/comment system by partaking in exchange groups and requesting for them through other Bubblews' members."

As Duffsmom says, it is true that they pay for 'dislikes' (when and if they pay at all).

As they keep banning the offender, I doubt I'll be in trouble. There have been a lot of complaints. They can surely see from my activity that I wasn't in contact with the person. Will keep my fingers crossed....

    2. duffsmom profile image61
duffsmomposted 11 years agoin reply to this

I have had no trouble with payouts.  Usually there is some reason for not paying...lack of photo attribution or less than the required number of characters.  unfortunately you have to guess because contact with the admin is a rare thing!

Beth37, why do you want to close your account?  Must say I've only published "light" things there as a test. I have picked up that it's a problem to delete posts or leave, but so far payments are on track. Sorry if you're having problems.

weekend: If I am correct, I looked at your posts under weekend on bubblews. If that is you, there are only 2 posts and the amount of views and likes do not come up with $25 minimum for payout.  Posts are less than 400 characters.    Like I said, I am  not sure if the posts are from you or another person using weekend as their name.  The posts were about what they had for lunch and another is nothing but  a pic and one sentence.

Beth, take a look at the thread I've linked to above where Marisa Wright eloquently expresses an idea of why this might be.

        1. profile image0
Beth37posted 11 years agoin reply to this

Hmmm, Im not sure... cause how will they get any money if the account is still open and under my name? Are you saying if you don't keep adding, they can just start taking revenue?

          1. weekend profile image60
weekendposted 11 years agoin reply to this

As Marisa says: "... when you give up and walk away, they get all the continuing income." I think this could also apply to your situation, although that's not the exact context in which Marisa was commenting. It just seems to make sense. Your situation actually seems to support Marisa's theory.

I know somebody else, by the way, who can't get Bubblews to close their accout.

Can't you just delete all of your Bubbles so that the account is just a name. You can go in and change your contact info and even user name to say--Jane Doe, pull all your Bubbles That way the account is just a dummy account.

I had two accounts there before I realized you couldn't. I went in and deleted all my Bubbles and so the account is just empty. Hey if they want to take up space with an empty account that's their problem.

Frankly, I am not sure they anticipated the interest and they are understaffed. I am going to take the money and fun as long as they pay me, but I can't see where it can last.

You are a genius. I deleted them all. I will miss them. They were all romantic poems, somewhat sexual in nature and I tired of dealing with the whole 'Is HP's going to have a problem with them?' thing. So I took them too Bubblews, but I felt very disconnected there. I still have them here on HP's, but I have them unpublished at the moment. I don't know if I'll publish them ever again, but it's good to know I have the control of whether or not they are read. Thanks so much for your good idea. smile

weekendposted 11 years agoin reply to this

That's why I've left mine there.

I'm wondering if my mistake was a short absence from Bubblews. I joined at the end of July, wrote ten posts on the day of joining, four the following day, then stopped due to a bereavement which put me out of action for more than a month. When I started there again, I submitted ten posts a day until non-payment caused me to lose motivation.

If their business model is primarily to profit from inactive accounts, it's possible that they thought I'd abandoned my account and blocked payments as they might with any inactive account. It could even be an automated process.

duffsmomposted 11 years agoin reply to this

No, I had a second account there idle for months (until I finally found out only one account was allowed). It was never blocked and was still earning money.  There is a lot of problem with compatibility and software which could be part of some folks problems.

I finally checked out Bubblews since so many talked about it here. I signed up, and had fun writing two blurbs for Bubbles. I connected with a few people, and made about $2.00 for about a half hour's work. Now today I tried to log in, and it won't let me. It keeps saying my User Name is wrong. I have a bad habit of forgetting them since I write in many places, and wrote it down. So I'm sure I have the correct user name, and the password is not at issue. I wrote to them, but reading about the negative things people have said here, I doubt I'll hear from them. It's not just a password change, like when you forget that and the site sends you the link. I guess I could pick another name and make another account. I'm disappointed, I wanted to see if anyone commented today since I just joined and played around on it last night.

Had this problem before. Be sure when you try to log in you delete the information already in the user name and password boxes.  Start fresh and type them in.  It worked for me anyway.

  15. innerspin profile image90
    innerspinposted 11 years ago

Jean Bakula, I agree with duffsmom on this. Clear whatever shows in the boxes and start fresh. It can take a couple of goes. Hope things work out for you -  they do pay if you keep to the rules.

GA Anderson, the first time I got hit I laughed it off, but it's wearing a bit thin now. (290+) I seriously don't know why I've been targeted. That's the way it goes. Support say they will remove the dislikes, but I don't think they've worked out how to do it.
