The first interpol arrest warrant for Osama Bin Laden was issued in 1998 by Libya. From that time until eight days after the US and her allies started bombing Afghanistan in 2001, the Taliban refused to agree to his extradition.
I remember reading in the newspapers, before the September 11 attacks, of the Taliban destroying irreplaceable and ancient Buddhist statues in certain regions of Afghanistan. I don't think it was wrong for the rest of the world to end the Taliban's reign in Afghanistan, no.
The CIA financed Taliban or a different Taliban?
I believe so, yes.
War is bad, but sometimes necessary. Such is the state of mankind's interaction. And I don't think that will change anytime soon.
No.
And Obama is a Chickenshi.... er... ChickenHAWK for keeping the war going.
No. Obama got Bin Laden at small cost and no casualties. The Taliban was not a threat to the United States.
I thought it was Navy SEALs that got bin Laden...did I miss something?
Chris Christie just called a navy seal an idiot.
So much for respect for the troops.

Military action against Afghanistan was inevitable because the ruling Taliban allowed the country to become a haven and training ground for terrorists -- the same ones who carried out the terror attacks of 9-11.
Was a full blown invasion necessary? Could air strikes supporting the Northern Coalition have driven the Taliban out? We'll never know now.
The big mistake was the concept of marrying military action to "nation building" -- thinking the Afghans would be so happy to be "free" that they would instantly become modernized, westernized and our best friends.
When you are in someone else's country, you are an occupier, no matter how noble your motivations may be. Tribalism, religious differences and distrust of westerners made the "New Afghanistan" a no-go from the beginning.
The take away is that you can clean out a viper's nest, but don't expect them to love you for doing it. And don't base your foreign policy on that.
Wekk we had more reason to be in Afghanistan than Vietman actually. If you will recall the Taliban and Al-Queda worked together on 9/11. Apparently it's time to go.
The CIA financed Taliban and Al-Qaeda or different ones?
The ones with the bases on the moon? Dick Cheney?
There's actually very little evidence to suggest that Al Qaeda carried out 9/11.
No it was Dick Cheney all along. He actually stood in the first building and set off the charges. Did you know that?
No, but he was in charge of NORAD that morning...and those f-16 fighters were delayed by 80 minutes....totally off protocol.
They probably shouldn't have claimed credit for it then. Dumb move on their part.
Is that part of the scientific method now? If somebody said they did something, that must mean they did it? :3
Either that it they're attention-seeking morons who shouldn't have acted too surprised when bombs started falling on their heads.
Rule #1 of diplomacy: If several thousand citizens of a country are killed, don't take credit for it! Especially if you're innocent! It's not that hard!
Bin-Laden denied it. He said it was members of our own gvt, and others.
Of course, that was before Tim Osman became him.
Interesting. So that must mean Obama was in league with Bush the whole time since he continued the charade.
Yes, continue the charade he has.
But I don't wish to.
Then why did he make a video tape explaining to some of his friends how he planned it? I'm sorry but every time this comes up and you dig into it a little you discover the main proponents were all rabid and I do mean rabid Bush haters. I doubt seriously it would ever had been brought up if Bill Clinton had still been in office or if Al Gore(God Forbid!) had been elected.

Is this what Trump voters wanted?Trumpeteers wanted disruption, "drain the swamp," vanquish ISIS, and above all, bring back jobs. But he's talking about "low-life leakers" instead of renegotiating NAFTA; Says the free press is "the enemy of the American People" instead...

Most of you know I am very critical of Obama but it looks like he is going to send about 20,000 to 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan which is what needs to be done. At least, that is the rumor on the street. For all of you who support Obama, I'm assuming you will be against this...
