Say, How Come Staff Keeps Reading My New Stuff Before I Can Even Get To Finish It?

No one is peaking at your writing.  The views that accumulate are your own.  Every time you use the preview button, you create a view.  Every time you enter an article to edit it, then save it again unpublished, you create two views.

The reason it seems they are being looked at is because the views don't show up in your stats right away.

Ah...that makes sense.  Thank you for this information Ivorwen.

so that is why when I had a few unpublished there were sill numbers from viewing...it's the staff looking at it?

  3. Gemsong profile image62

How do you know it's them?

  4. earner profile image82

I just assume the numbers are when I go to my unpublished hub and then press the EDIT button, rather than pressing EDIT to navigate to it from My Account.

I think it shows a pageview each time you edit.  At least that's about how my numbers come out.

I appreciate your input, rebekahELLE, but the problem I have with the edit=pageview explain is that I have'nt edited any of my hubs over 50 times while finishing them in the Unpublished mode; the number of pageviews are in high excess of my own returns to the hubs for editing, starting at 3 or 4 times my edit returns, then steadily increasing daily without me even going back to the hub for hours.    I'll consider your input too, Ivorwen.   That may be it, but I'll need to check it out to be sure.    Thanks to those who tried to answer my query.

I unpublished all 8 of mine to add a few things to them just for a day and my hubscore dropped from 90 to 56, weird or what ?

Wow, that's interesting. Were they getting good traffic before you unpublished?  I have just gone in to edit if I needed anything added, so haven't yet had the need to totally unpublish one.

They were getting increased outside traffic and with change of Titles and experimenting a few had hit a good spot on google, but the annoying thing is another account I use to fart about with has a hubscore of 77 with just one hub so why even bother wasting your time to try and make a hub better.

Healthtip, you don't need to unpublish them just because you're revising - just leave them up.  Taking them "off the air" is bad for your ranking on search engines as well as on HubPages.

Methinks you could be right but a drop of 34 in 24 hours, maybe actually taking time to add things to a hub is a waste of time.

It's us, we are the ones doing it damn it, trying to go about our hubpage writing and stuff and we put the views there with our minds.....there is no stopping it, it happens and we must deal with the evil of looking and registered views on our unpublished hubpages.....NNNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

    Hello
These comments about unpublished articles having scores is really interesting.  I wrote one the other day and for the first time didn't publish it immediately.  I went back to see something on the "my account" page and lo.....there had been two views.  It definitely wasn't me.  I was MOST confused as to why that would happen too.
By the way...when I make changes to a published article I just do it in edit mode.

I usually make changes in edit mode myself but I was doing a complete makeover on all 8 hubs, I deff won't be doing that again.

Sure can understand why you wouldn't want to do that again!  Such a shame to drop so many points.

I don't really think the score makes any difference to the reads but the fact I am making is why bother putting in the effort !

Is it robots or real people who assign scores?

    1. Ivorwen profile image66
Ivorwenposted 14 years agoin reply to this

As far as I understand, the scores are computer generated, based on your activity and traffic.  However, I have noticed that my most visited hubs are not always the ones with the highest scores.  Hubpages has some sort of system to assign the scores.
