   Are you afraid of heights?
   
   Does this fear of heights prevent you from doing anything? How do you deal with it?

   Yeah a little bit I guess, although I've been up in a hot air balloon and Go Ape and I'm not afraid of flying. I guess it would be more if I felt like I was in danger. Also, I don't know if you find this, but you get this vertigo feeling where you almost want to jump down?
   
   So yes and no I guess. It wouldn't prevent me doing safe activities but I would find it very difficult to walk across a rope bridge across a cliff with no harness. I think mine is a very minimal fear so I'm not sure it answers your question extensively, but I hope so

   Yes, I can go on roller coasters but not ferriswheels.  I can go upstairs to my attic and be Ok, but if I look out the window I am frozen in fear.  I can not climb more than two rungs up an outside ladder but I can stand on a step stool in the parlor.  I can climb 10 feet up a tree and be fine but I can't look over a 10 foot high cliff.  Sometimes my fear of heights doesn't make sense.  Can I instead say, yes I am afraid of heights and at the same time say no I am not afraid of heights?  I guess my mind doesn't make sense sometimes!!!!

   When I was younger I used to build homes. Did all the framing and up three stories without a problem. Now being older I can't climb tall ladders like before and I am afraid to fly , so I am missing many great places in the world because of the fear of heights.
   Also I can't get near windows when on upper floors of building. I would love to overcome this fear but I guess I have to live with it as I have always done.

   I am not afraid of heights but I am afraid of falling. I can be high up and look down and not be afraid and yet sometimes I can feel afraid at the top of a flight of stairs in case I fall. Kind of strange but it's true.

   I am not normally afraid of heights.  I'm more afraid of being pushed off the cliff.  Seriously!  I  can stand on top of a building and not be afraid... it's the falling off part that I'm afraid of.

   I hate that I am very afraid of heights.  Didn't realize how much til my husband needed help on the roof, and once there, was near frozen.  He felt bad, but laughed as I hugged the ladder trying to crawl down.

   Yes, When i was in the top of the building or above the tree i felt I'm gonna fall. It's a weird feeling.

   I am, and it does..............
   
   I simply ask my husband, who is often 'tied off' at hundreds of feet in the air ( as an industrial welder) to  go up on the roof, climb the ladder, rescue the critter from the tree............
   
   
   I can go up, but the thought of coming down, paralyizes me.
   
   I would rather drive a thousand miles than fly 100.

    Unfortunately I am scared of heights although I often try to reason out with myself but am not yet comfortable with the fact of climbing the roof and looking down.
    
    I can go up but I dare not look down thus, keep my eyes closed and try to keep my mind focused on something else.

    I was not, but since i've experienced several eathquake in 30plus storeys building i'm totally afrais of heights!

    Yes and no...
    
    If I am tethered to a rope or a fix object then I'll climb to any height. However, if I am free to move around then just ten foot off the ground is too high!!!
    
    I think it has something to do with the fear of falling rather than the fear of heights.

    I am and it isn´t really a problem. I have a husband that does the necessary high jobs. Climbing up is fine, but it is scary to come down. So I avoid it! Flying in airplanes is ok, but I have to talk to myself before the landing part. Somehow people high up in the sky feels unnatural.

    nah. when i was little i was so I thought i'd start rock climbing. When you do it more and more you can go higher and higher and you kinda get over it. It really helped me get over heights

    I didn't think so until I climbed the staircase of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. The top half of the dome has this metal, winding staircase with holes in each step so you can see all the way to the top (or bottom, depending where you are), and by the time I got to the top I was terrified. Going down was even worse; I had a whole lineup of people behind me, glaring at me, as I slowly inched down once step at a time.

    Yes I am and at the same time I spent over six years flying for the Air Force.  What some people do not realize is that when you are in an enclosed compartment, you fear of height is significantly reduced..basically your depth perception goes away and you are simply looking at a satellite map below you.  At the same time, if I went into the rear of the aircraft while we we were dropping cargo and experienced the outside world through the open caro ramp doors in the rear of the aircraft, all my fears and senses returned as did my depth perception.  Strange huh? WB

    I'm not actually afraid of heights, but I'm afraid that I might fall. But when I am with people that I trust, I can overcome that fear and just enjoy all the great stuff that a person can only experience on high structures or heights.

    yes i have fear for heights. sometime when i climb a hill or multistorey building and see back to down, i feel a sense of fear.

    I spent a summer painting houses and after being forced to spend hours up on a thirty foot ladder I got over my fear of heights pretty quick.  I'd say the best way to deal the fear of heights (or any fear) is just to try and face it.

    No, I love hights, I love pushing the envelope. I used to put myself in dangerous situations on purpose to push myself to see how far my fears would let me go. A fun exercise if you don't mind the risk.
    
    My activities included free face rock climbing, skydiving, bungee jumping, white water rafting, and race car driving. Not to mention some very dangerous jobs I took on.
    
    I think fear, and the fear of death makes you feel more alive than any other time.

    I have a tendency to be afraid of heights in some situations. Mainly man-made heights such as scaffolding and such, but when it comes to natural things such as mountains, I am fine. Weird, but i'm not sure how it works.

    Yes, that really the only phobia that I have.  I guess it is a realistic phobia because if you fall, from a cliff, you will die.

    I did not used to be, but sometime in the past few decades I developed this fear for no reason I can think of.
    
    Even just imagining being in a high, exposed place makes my feet and palms sweat. It is weird!

    Yes I am, but luckily it has not interfered with my being able to enjoy life. I don't put myself in a situation (other than climbing a ladder on occasion) where it would cause a problem.

    I am, but it doesn't keep me from doing things. if i have to fix something that is up high, i just think that I should hurry up and get it done, so i can get down quicker.

    Yes, I'm afraid of heights because I have a tad bit of trouble judging distance.....I don't know if they have a specific name of my condition, but I have a hard time judging the distance of heights. When I'm up above the ground, I don't really know if I'm 20 feet off the ground or 50 feet off the ground when looking down. I have decided awhile ago to stay on the ground. This same condition has affected my night driving since I can't judge distance at night.

    Nope, I'm not afraid of heights. It's spiders I don't like... Creeping, crawling spiders arghhh! No really. I sort of am. 1,000 2,000 feet, skydiving - yes skydiving, doesn't bother me. But walking atop a cliff hiking, or other moderately high places does sort of scare me.

    When I am inside the elevator or in my bedroom, or even in airplane the answer is NO, no matter how higher I am moving. But when I look out down to see at birds eye view YES, I feel something scary.
