First Calendar Month at Hubpages - A Retrosepctive view

Updated on July 12, 2011

What I Have Found at HP

Over the past month I knowingly gave myself a 30 hubs in thirty days challenge after reading one of Rebecca E hubs stating once you get over thirty hubs your traffic improves dramatically, And thinking about it mathematically which I do a lot you can see how thirty hubs being viewed once a day each can add up to some considerable traffic. When I first started at hubpages I had no idea what it would take to produce good hubpages hub. After plenty of reading and revising there is a steady formula which is proving very successful. I also found out that writing hubs is harder and more time consuming than writing a short story or sales letter. My insurance hubs have taken me three to four hours to complete with research.

Coming from a web design background I thought this would simply be a place to acquire some good backlinks with great anchor text. I have found a good challenge in learning something new everyday and writing about it. I can say that with the HTML and Back linking experience I previously had compliment my hubs well as it’s not hard to determine in advance which hubs will be the leaders. Short hubs tend to do poorly and longer hubs better, but not always.

Writing with Hubpage hubs

Reading further I am seeing that it may take fifty hubs and six months to get significant traffic and income. Hastily making fifty hubs of three to four hundred words will not productive. I have found that my best hubs are 750 to 1000+ words. This way I can get a few keyword phrases into the article and not have it look awkward. I have found that some of my hubs will have five dollars signs and others no less then three which I regard to as quite good. I think that I will also now slow my pace of hub writing down and focus more on acquiring the links needed to get my articles ranking higher in the SERP’s

After writing these hubs I have found a new income stream in SEO copywriting, I am going to make some modifications to my site and add a few pages which I will keyword anchor text link to because I am treating myself in this hub not only by making thirty keyword rich anchor text links to my hubs but to my site as a pat on the back for a great first month at hubpages

I have found that the hub page community is very supportive and loyal, you always read about shetoldme, redgage and snipsly as supplemental link sources only one of which I have used, and if you are new to hub pages I would recommend you watch the forums, I have learned more there then any other facet of hubpages.

The Fundamental Change in my Perspective of Work

Prior to learning about hub pages I always had goals that I wrote done and achieved. These ranged from traffic stats to page rank all small little goals that led to the bigger picture. I have found that my goals are shifting from the typical, nice car, house and other monetary goals to intrinsically focused goal of have the privilege of working from home. This may derive from the fact I do not like to have a boss who I regard as less intelligent then myself. This is not to say I am brilliant but rather I would rather work from someone I can learn from rather then teach my boss what should be done. To me that’s fundamentally wrong and irritates me.

So I have given myself the next six months to establish a client base and gather enough work to support my goal of working from home. I have already set up my business, taxes and website and now I am going to turn my attention to client acquisition. I have read a few hubbers hubs and may ask for their aid in attaining this goal.

Hence that is why I have done the thirty hubs in thirty days which I am confident will assist with passive income. So as a pat on the back I have included links to all of my hubs that I have written since joining roughly four weeks ago.

I think that I for my next hub I will “ reveal the man behind the moniker” I post as the McConnell Group for branding and marketing reasons but I think it’s also beneficial that I take of the mask once and while. Keep an eye of for that hub, I’ll have to take some recent pictures to post for it.

As a last little side note I have found through my keyword research that these “aunty hubpages” and “hot pics” are searched globally quite a bit, I am thinking I may create a hub just for the traffic, what are your opinions on making a hub with that topic?
