Do you feel unhappy when you see your friends more happier and successful than you?

I see many people getting unhappy because other people are having better life than them. Why people are so much jealous and selfish?

I've come to feel that there is a cycle of life for all of humanity.  We are all privy to positive and negative events in our lifetime.  I don't compare my life experiences to anyone elses.  My best friend has been that for 20 years.  I am always sad when she experiences a negative event, and happy when she is.  No matter what is happening in my life, I never wish bad on anyone. It's just not the way I think.  I am stunned when I hear another person saying vindictive, mean or hateful comments about someone else.

There are many circumstances within our lives that we cannot control, ie. to whom, when and where we are born, or how, when and where we will die.  I believe in personal power making our lives better, but usually in the aspect of how we process and learn from the events that make up a lifetime.  I believe many people are consumed by jealousy and selfishness, because rather than realistically looking within themselves for answers, they blame those people and events that they cannot control.

I would be glad they are happy and successful. Their feelings of joy, happiness and success brings good spirit in the environment and the people around.

This is a really good question that you have asked today. I think of this so many times in my lifetime. Actually if you talk about me, I never feel unhappy about my friends being more happy or successful than me. Rather I feel joyous over their job... read more

    Ego!

This universe is built on action-reaction continuity. Survival of self is important, because people think that their existence is limited.

If only they knew that their existence was infinite, because they are immortal spirit wrapped in Homo sapiens flesh.

Success of people I know or don't know inspires me. I feel the power of creativity building within me when I see the fact that someone else has done it.

No. Because at that point I begin judging by different standards. Are they married, do they make more money than me, etc. The main question is what part of their life do they mess up on and do I have that part of my life better than they do. In that way, I am more successful than they are. It is all about perspective.

I used to feel envious of other lives when I was very ill. Just for the fact that they seemed to have no problems at all.

Later on, I realized that they had their own set of problems, hidden from the outside world. Hidden from me.

Since a long while I can get extremely happy for watching happy couples, children playing in a park, two old people still in love or someone telling me she got pregnant. Their happiness becomes mine just for the fact that I wish for anyone to enjoy some form of happiness and peace in life.

ookaboo.com Extremely thought provoking question by a fellow Hubber I might add. There are some people who could not be more happier when their friends become highly successful. According to these people, their friends' successes are indirectly... read more
