According to prophecy as I see it, the end is upon us. One of the last great prophecies is only five years from completion.

I'd say we have a few more years than that but I see danger in guessing.  It tends to sway us from the important doctrines of life meant to build us up to withstand the turmoils coming.

Every year I hear the world will end, each time it is a diffrent year, or a diffrent prediction on how it will end.  But each year I do not get scared, and I do not fret.  If my time is up there is nothing I can do to prepare for it.  I just do right by my fellow man today, tomorow, and next year, and not think about what might be.

great prophecies once thought unfulfillable have now been fulfilled. There are only a few left and they are very detailed as to their completion and what it means for the time all of humanity has left.

I probably know, but would like to hear what you mean.

Anyway, yes, God must be pretty mad at a lotta people by now.....we've had His word for a long time, but many still trample all over it.

His Spirit shall not always strive with man....

Scary, awesome, wonderful, justice is coming.  Lord help us to be ready.

I can remember hearing these predictions when I was a little girl. I didn't care for them much because I had a lot of living to do.

Also the predictions always seemed to come from old people who didn't seem to mind so much.

Jesus said no one knows... so how can anyone make predictions?

I think the large cults are going to end. Not the world, not the people, just the belief in group religion. People are already seeing you cant follow men. They will lead you straight to hell. People will finally have enough of the Pat Robertsons and Osama Bin Ladens of this world and finally realize "BY YOUR OWN BELIEF SHALL YOU BE SAVED." People will start following the good sense God gave them and start listening to the word in their hearts instead of the hate and fear spread by men and women.

        exactly.
the entire point is to show believers it is time to change.
to be the beings they were created to be. True, their world will end, the world of limited thinking, limited creation, limited unity with Him. I am convinced that has already begun. One by one, people are turning away from all pointless ideologies (no matter the title).

Interesting how the letter states that their will be in fact a large number who no sin was found in them meaning we will reach the place beyond this idea of economics, buildings, spaceships, etc and return to the place where we were 'Eden'.

The greatest problem with any prophecy is timing.

Aside from that, end-of-world scenarios are comforting for those who don't want to have to actually make their own way in this warring universe.  Lots easier to figure, "Hey, who cares; it'll be over soon, anyway."

I just wrote a Hub on the subject, titled, "The World Will End on December 21, 2012!…and if it doesn’t, maybe we’ll reschedule it for 2016". Out of the 220+ dates scheduled for  the end of the world, what makes any upcoming prediction credible?

In my philosophy, there is no end-- only beginnings.
An end to our physical world?  I say no there as well. According to the Mayan calendar, there is a new beginning coming up in 2012-- a RE-cycling.
As in anything, if you only look for an "end"-- that may be just what you'll receive.

In my belief, it will only effect those of us on earth. I do not know if there are men and women on other planets. If there are they came after earth as per the bible. I do know that there are other planets created with vast varieties of life as it is said, but we were the first humans. Through prophecy I have discovered that we are probably the only ones who "entered into sin" and therefor are the only ones who will come to an end and enter into a new life, only after all have died. There is no evidence that we get some form of a fresh start without an utter end(as stated a few pages back).

All that being said, I'm not preaching an end date. I am pointing out that there are only a handful of prophecies left to fulfill and one of them will be completed within the next five years. The others, who knows.

If so, I have to disagree. I had a very, very vivid dream about 15 years ago that revealed I would die on December 16, 2024.

So I don't know about the rest of you but I'll be around beyond that 5-years-from-now prophecy fulfillment. big_smile

Just like The Return of Halley's Comet.
            The list goes on.

Between 44AD and 2009 there have been over 220 known (recorded) prophecies to do with the end of the world. So far 220 have been incorrect.

There is to be a temple built at New Jerusalem, also. As far as I know, there is no evidence of New Jerusalem being established, or a temple being built. Also, the complete demise of the money system needs to take place, which is in Revelation. That could be closer than we guess.

However, there are more prophecies that have not yet been fulfilled yet, and I'm not sure that the "end" means the ceasing of the world and its population. The end could mean the end of old and beginning of new.

There are also signs in the heavens that haven't yet happened. The list is not lengthy but pretty critical. I don't see it as close as perhaps you do, sooner (with all due respect).

The idea that the secular state of Israel, which, incidentally, was founded on Marxist/Socialist ideals initially (and that is not a slur, simply a fact of history), would build a new temple is nuts. Man, go and spend some time in the place

I have a problem with this whole 'end of the world' thing.

If we are all so evil that this purging is needed ... and if it was all foreseen and predicted when it would occur ... then why let us live on for so many generations after the prediction was made?

To give us a chance to change? All of those that died before us can't change ... their dead.

And of the future generations ... he knew we would grow more wicked, so why let us keep spawning?

How many centuries did God think over the Great Flood? For that matter, how many centuries of warning did man receive that the flood was coming?

I thought I read somewhere that God's judgment was always swift ... so is there a chance this is nothing more than man's judgment being used to control other men?

Think before responding, as the church has been quoted MANY times over the centuries as saying the 'end of times' are upon us, and there were those who claimed to have seen the signs. Why should this time of warning be seen any differently?

Anyone can predict when the world will end, for example I say 2057. The problem comes when we alter our life course based on unproven knowledge. More dangerous are those that try to accelerate the end by inciting wars and conflicts. Yes, there are stories about religious nuts in the middle east trying to do it now and they are not all Muslims.

    Since the Bible says...

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." (Matt 24:36)

...why would anyone who believes in the literal truth of the bible think that the end of the world could be predicted?

    My thoughts.

Those prophecies of the end are so that we are prepared for them, and most importantly so that we do not follow the beast(devil) as he will confuse many. A man and womans life is at end by the thousands on a daily basis- so I guess preparation is always upon us. In this case however, I am talking about the end of humanity as a whole.

Let me ask you this. How much longer do you think man will let man live? Please consider that most people think Nukes will be used in our lifetime. Now, God says He will not let us destroy what He has created. That is a very powerful message with all things considered.

I think your second paragraph raises a very important issue. The world WILL end about 45 mins. after they empty the silos. There's nothing in the bible that I know of that says man can act as stupidly as he wants to and God will protect him from the consequences. I hope we're smart enough to insure our own survival.

Where are the people who are already dead? For example, where is someone who died the year after Jesus died?

first, who says He is angry at anyone.
No one knows if He is, only He.

second, as for the 'end of the world' -a sad thing really, if true. i think it sad that people of such a pure heart of Love would consider -or be elated- at the destruction of any creature or creation.

Plus, it would be a direct violation of His 'Free Will' Act in giving man the choice to live or die, to enter in or be without.

Prophets and prophecy are very powerful things -both honest and false. if you accept the literal word, then you know MANY MANY false prophets would come after Him.

False Prophets are the anti-anointed, appearing to be like the Spirit even to the point of deceiving the elect. Those who know the Spirit will not concern themselves with such things.

For that which is flesh alone is, that which is Spirit is.
    Why the controversy?

As for "Him striving with man...flesh" : that was true. However, that was under the Law. Now Grace has come and His Spirit dwells in those who KNOW HIM.

Poor kicks don't help matters either, and there should have been one second on the clock, video confirms it. Texas with the first string quarterback running the offense usually wins, what am I saying, always wins. Its been fun but I gotta watch 24 now, DVR you gotta love em.

It is a pack of lies written by men to control those gullible enough to believe the unbelievable, see the invisible and interact with what does not exist. The world is full of people like that, but even a tiny knowledge of psychology reveals this biblical god of yours as a psychopath.

You seem to be missing ONE KEY element. That element is if you want to BRING IN something from a mystical place into our objectively defined reality, then IT IS YOU WHO NEEDS TO PROVIDE PROOF of it's existence.

It's unbelieveable that some people use a sad illogically rationalized belief to establish something inside the realm of reality, which has been defined.

The PROOF doesn't fall on non-believers. They live in their objective reality and KNOW that the "god" concept is non-existent. Why? or How? Because, everything inside our objective reality is DEFINED!

The "GOD" concept isn't defined, except as a mystical, imaginary entity.

So, please......learn what's truth? Before spouting off untruths about what's in the bible, which has already been proven to be nothing more than a history book and mythology books combined. smile

you haven't 'proven the bible, torah, koran false in any way.

As my daddy would have said: put your mouth where your money is.

Prove your 'logic' (or whatever you call it).
Don't just spew rhetoric -give us diluted folk proof.
Than we can respect your position as well.

Prove it? Prove what? That your book is a pile? What do you call someone who, to get their own way threatens to kill or worse?
Your gutless stupid little god couldn't get a pie in a pie fight!

The bible is, along with the quoran the biggest pile of filth ever written by man.
Why would I bother to provide proof again. Many have, all ignored and followed by scripture as "proof." because there is not one word of proof, and why would there be?
There are no fairies at the bottom of my garden. smile
The bible is proof of nothing, you worship a fairy fer gords sake, then you ask for proof it doesn't exist?! lol
        A nasty one at that!

yes, PROVE the book is a bunch of lies. Prove -using any method you prefer- that we cannot see the invisible (whatever that is)

prove it is as you all so forcefully demand proof it is true.
Perhaps we can then accept your position.

I hear all this doom and gloom. When is the world going to end? I must say that I do not know and the truth is neither dose anyone else. People love to talk about calanders from ancient times and they are worthless as far as predicting the end of days because time means nothing to God as far as the way we understand it. As for someone who is a christian our lives are everlasting and when our days are done on this earth we will move on to a better place and because this is something I know I have no fear and will not waste my time worrying about the end of the world. TO know God is to live life without fear. If God is with me who shall be agaist me. As my grandma used to tell me just belive in Jesus and you will be alright. In closing I would like to say that as a person looks at the state of the world one has to hope that Jesus returns soon.

I do not usually get involved with posts about religion...my faith means too much to me to argue. But if i 'member correctly the Bible says that we ain't gonna know when the end is coming. He says we'll have signs but will not know the day or the hour. Men who claim to speak for God have been one of the biggest blots on Christianity since the beginning. You know, the pride thing and all. There ain't nobody better than anyone else.
