Very Sorry..I know how gut wrenching it is to lose a 4 legged family memeber..There is a website, City-Data.com, on there there you will find a forum called The Rainbow Bridge under the pet section. I posted there when I lost my Dane, it is amazing the support you will find...heartfelt.
Found your post tonight - I miss my Charlie Dog tonight as well, he died in a very similar situation to your Charlie. Not quite a month since he has been gone from my life. Miss his little happy yappy hello barks and his happy dance at supper time. Just miss him!
Can very much understand what you and your family are going through. Our companion animals can be our best friends.
My love to you and yours,
Valerie
I am so sorry for you and your family. Dogs are man's best friend. Lots of HUGS.
Oh Honey I am so so sorry to hear this. Please accept my deepest sympathies to you and your loving family. Bellaslove
What an awful thing to happen, jimmy. I am so very sorry.
With the loss of Charlie, I'm sure that one of the greatest geniuses in theology disappears.
What a pitty he never wrote... or a blessing.
Sorry to hear that - he looks like he was quite a character.
Sounds like Charlie had a good life for a dog. He had his family and he was well cared for. That's something.
wow, that sucks. im sorry to hear that. you have my condolances.
I'm so very sorry to hear this a few months ago we had our house fumigated we had 5 cats and 1 dog, all of our pets made it through except for our kitten Tinkerbell it was horrible we had taken her to the vet but it was too late and we had to watch her die on the way there. There are a lot of people out there today who don't care about pets and I've seen too many dogs especially die on our busy street. My sympathies and prayers go out to you. Linda
OH NO Jimmy *HUGS* I am so sorry sweety that your pup was hit and passed away. And I am so sorry that your whole family has to deal with this so close to the holidays! *HUGS* *HUGS* *HUGS* HUGS*
Oh gosh Jimmy, so sorry! I know how it feels to lose a cherished pet suddenly, and my heart goes out to you and your family!
So sorry Jimmy. He has a most wonderful name as well. May he rest in peace, the poor kids, and so close to Christmas.
Sorry to hear that, I know what it feels like to lose a loved pet.
so very sorry to hear. difficult to lose a pet. lots of hugs and sympathy for you and your family.
I'm so sorry to hear this, Jimmy. Animals find their way into our hearts in a special way and it does hurt so much when they leave us.
How devistating for you. It is like losing a family member. I just want you to know that there are people sending lots of love and strength to you and your family.
Big Hug and Slobber kiss xxxx
I dont know what to say guys I am in tears reading your words, thankyou all so very much i am touched by everyone of you.....jimmy
I am so sad for you and my heart goes out to you and your family Jimmy, (((Big Hugs))) and it is o.k. to cry they are like our kids so I understand your heartbreak and pain.
Keep your chin up jimmy. we are all here for you and your family right now.
Old dogs and children. Best friends of mine. Now I shed a tear Jimmy.
I have been comforting my wife and children tonight, writing here and all of your kind words has made it hit home, and although crying as I write this I feel a great warmth in my heart thanks to you guys in the Hubpages community.....jimmy
Sorry about Charlie! I had two dogs named Charlie one was a mutt and the other a Rhodesian Ridge-back, his real name was Prince Charles of Zimbabwe. I loved my Charlies!
So sorry to hear this and as everyone mentioned, so close to Christmas. My heart goes out to you and your family as when I have lost a pet it's as if I had lost my very best friend.
Only remember one thing and that is that you made sure that while he lived he enjoyed a good life which is a luck that doesn't happen to all animals.
Oh Jimmy, I am so sorry to hear this. When we lost "Lady" our beloved Greyhound I wrote a hub about her and how losing her made us feel. The feedback was amazing and you might find this helpful too. Additionally I was so impressed by fellow Hubber rvsource's artwork in his hubs I requested him to draw a picture of her as a Birthday present for my Mother. He not only did this for a very fair price, but also wrote a hub on how he did it. You might want to consider this too as his artwork is spot on and brings her to life again. I am sincerely saddened by your loss, as I always treat pets as a part of the family, and to lose them is just as bad as losing any family member. I wish you and your family well at what is a very difficult time.
Dogs are precious furry four legged humans (or in the case of one of mine, three legged).
People who don't own dogs don't realise just how gut wrenching the loss is. It rips your heart out. But their memory lives on. Talk about him, cry, reminiscence, cry some more.
To top it off the loss of Charlie even affects an Aussie on the side of the world. I checked out your wife's hub, Charlie is a staffy. I love and adore staffies (my three legged dog is a staffy). So you have my deepest sympathies.
Hi jimmy
i know that you were trying to be strong and we were being positive about things.
At least we know were he is, staffie reps do nothing to there nature
i know you will miss our charlie but he will forever be in our hearts
Thanks a million james for being a great dad to the kids tonite
Rest In Peace Charlie you have left a big hole in our hearts
alison
So sorry to know anyone is going through loss of a beloved pet. It's awful. The thought that has always helped me at such times (sort of) has been to remind myself of how fortunate any pet is to have a family who loves him and treats him well throughout his time here. And, of course, there is comfort in knowing he isn't suffering.
Jimmy,
I too lost my love Matches over a year ago. .and a friend sent me this . .and thought I may share it with you. . . Hugs and love to you and your family.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
Jimmy, I am so sorry to hear that, my heart goes out to you.
My heart goes out to you and your family, just as so many hearts in this thread have said.
When our loved pets go, a piece of us goes as well, but also, a piece of them always remains within us.
I found Rainbow Bridge to be both cathartic and comforting at the loss of my cat, Ed, two years ago. I'm glad wavegirl22 shared it here. "...gone from your life but never absent from your heart."
Charlie is in a good place, and you and your family will meet him again.
I am very sorry for your loss, you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

sorry to hear about your dog. it's so hard to lose a pet. my thoughts are with you...
Jimmy, I am so sad to hear of your loss! It takes time to grieve the loss of a much loved friend. You family will huddle and get through this, I know how much you love them!
Best wishes Jimmy, be sad for now....
oh Jimmy, I am sorry to hear that too specially the Holidays is on already,
hugs and hugs!!
I am very sorry for your loss.I know first hand what it feels like to lose a beloved pet. We had a little fiest that use to play with the mailman everyday, barking at him and mock charging his car. Well one afternoon she decided to really charge his car as I was right there checking the mail. As he started pulling away I heard a loud thump and somehow knew exactly what it was. I quickly picked her up to carry her to the house , she licked my face and died in my arms.So I know how it feels, and how quickly things can go terribly wrong. On the 17th of this month we took our little pit bull Lucky in to the vet in Clay county Tn. When she went in she was a very very healthy dog and when I went in the next morning they called me back to tell me she was dead. It's bad enough that she was dead, but he couldnt even have the decency to give me a answer as to what happened or to simply take the time to know her name before giving me the news, or evn pick up a phone to let me know she died (hours before I arrived happily to get her back)He just blurted out to me in front of my 3 children "you know that little dog you brought in yesterday, she died.
Very saddened by the news of your loss. He looks like a great dog in his pic! I know that is very difficult to lose a "pet" member of the family. I believe your dog family member is now free to roam free where he will not be in danger...even though...I know that ya'll will miss him...and would want him by your side...more than anything!
I'm soo sorry to hear about your dog! Last year my dobie was hit by a car chasing a ball. It crushed me. I can't even imagine how hard it is on your kids. I'm sad now
It is a very sad news. Pets are like our family members.
So sorry for your loss Jimmy, especially at this time of year must be heartbreaking for you and the family. I'm sure Charlie is up there sporting his new doggy wings :)and smiling for you all.
Jimmy so sorry for your family's loss. May you all find strength in your loving memories of Charlie.
So sorry. Losing a pet is incredibly painful. Hope you'll always have good memories of him. :-(
thankyou everyone i dont know what else to say but thankyou your words of wisdom are helping us all today and we are all truly thankful.....jimmy
I've lost many pets over the years and I too grieved for each one of them. Looking back I have to say that grief was a fair price to be paid for the love and joy they gave and the happy memories that will remain forever.
I am deeply sorry for your loss.
I am going to pass on to you what someone older told me one time when I was very destraught over my dog---
They were given to us to care for and make their lives as good as you possibly can for as long as you can. When it is a matter of having to leave one behind, or one dieing, just know that you gave them some very good years, and get another one to do the same with. There are many many dogs that need a home like yours had. So sorry, for your loss.
Hi, Jimmy I have only just read this, sorry it is a bit late, I am so sorry. My family have always been dog and cat people, and when I lost my dog, I was gutted. What a horrible thing to happen just before xmas. Thinking of you. x
Sorry to hear that you lost Charlie...dogs are such wonderful beings and friends.
Hey dude
I really wanted to reply sooner but wanted to make sure I wasnt interupted.
I lost my chocolate lab of 12 years on May 31, 09 and it was one of the most devastating days of my life. He died in my arms and his last look before he closed his eyes was at me.
I lied on the ground with him for 4 hours before he died.
Some people laughed at me and some gave me funny looks. people who are not pet owners do not realize how much a pet becomes part of the family.
You guys need to take all the time you need to mourn a lost member of your family.
Many have told me just get another dog. In time I may do that but right now 6 or 7 months later the pain is still to great to get another puppy.
You guys take it easy and remember all the fun you had and as the days go by it does get a bit easier.

Dear fellow hubbers,Some of you have astutely noticed my recent (as in only the past 48 hours) absence from HP. My 85-year-old dad declined quite rapidly, ended up in the ER yesterday (Sunday) then ICU last night. All three of his children and one son-in-law (my Hubby) were at his bedside at the...

I just found out that hubber Wesman Todd Shaw passed away last year. RIP Todd. Many were fans of Todd's writings. Loved guitars and wrote some great hubs on music. Condolences to his family and friends.

I had BC for 20 years and she was such a great cat! And so pretty! She was deaf the last 10 years of her life so she became closer and closer to me. I think she figured I'd protect her from what she couldn't hear. But who knows why cats do anything really? Anyway, I've been trying to keep busy so I...
