How to Keep Longevity in Writing and Blogging

Updated on November 15, 2010

Thousands of people have talent. I might as well congratulate you for having your eyes in your head. The one and only thing that counts is: Do you have staying power? - Noel Coward

It is my seventh month in Hubbing at HubPages and even blogging in my friend's website, geez, time blew so fast and was unnoticed. Whoa, it seems just like yesterday where I just published my very first hub in the wonderful realms of HubPages. My first Hub "How to be Rich in Few Minutes," was indeed very memorable to me since it is appreciated by the very man it was dedicated to, that is, my College Dean Arnulfo Hermogeno, a licensed Electronics and Communications Engineer, and even prompted me to have it publish in our official school publication which I didn't comply since it is no longer original if I do so. I have written 119 Hubs (counting this one my number of hubs will swell to 120 all in all) and more than 70 blogs in other sites, which is neither too many nor minimal. I also made more than 200 backlinks outside of HubPages. The Hubbing experience I have had here at HubPages opened a lot of things to me, like passive income by writing articles which is indeed a thriving endeavor, but you must have the quality content, less competition, right keywords and well erected backlinks to do so, (otherwise the hub you just whip out will not get indexed by various search engines). Yes these are some of the secrets in plucking out the pageviews, wherein about 1 to 3% of these can yield the elusive clicks that translates to earnings.

The name of the game in Hubbing is longevity, because the longer you do your craft to the best of your abilities here and at the same time learning the essentials in how to monetize your hubs, the better chance of getting a nice slice of the lucrative advertisements dangled by the various sponsors.

With my just very raw experience I still managed to see many Hubbers come and go, but I am willing to stay here for the years to come, for as long as Hp likes me, hehehe and the people around here. HubPages gave me a lot of things to cherish in the years ahead, with the pocket-sized milestones (number of fans, number of published hubs and the likes) and mini-triumphs (getting lofty Author Score, one of my hub voted as a HubNugget, etc.), these little victories are priceless to me.

What will you do then to keep your Hubbing and even blogging exploits a blazing, for the coming years to come.

Here are some practical tips to keep the fire in your eyes in sustaining the drive to write articles in the years to come.

1. You are the captain of your Hubs. Writing about your passion and interests, make some blogs for monetary reasons, or to impart knowledge and wisdom, will help you determine which decision you should make to continue making Hubs or just put a halt to your hubbing stint here. Right motivation plays a vital role here, like wanting to stay here since you are surrounded with the amiable readers who keeps on getting in touch with you sharing their standpoint with your works, feelings and emotions they have for you and friendship that is molded by sheer sincerity and passion or simply would want to hang around since writing gives you a sense of happiness and continue doing the Hubbing thing. A Hubber always knows when to pull out the plug, if he or she is not happy and interested already.

2. Keep learning, this is the essence of Hubbing want to earn more, read articles around the HubPages and don't be surprised if there are lot of them, lots of 'em so as to speak, and they are available in volumes and the funny thing is, they are just a click away from you. Yes, many Hubbers are meek, and generous, and they are always there for you to give their wise advise and counsel in the forums and brilliance in getting earnings through there enterprising and thriving Hubs about making money online. Constant learning through reading and understanding the environment around here in the HubPages is a big plus for you.

3. Build a niche not only in HubPages and in various search engines, try to reach out, have as many friends in bookmarking and social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Xomba, Authorsden, Tagged, Fanbox, Yahoobuzz, Stumbleupon, Shetoldme and many many more. The more you link your Hubs with many bookmarking sites the stronger your Hubs becomes, because linking your hubs with these sites will not only bolster the overall content of your hubs but will also help you yield some page views. One of our website just recently earned a Page Rank 1 in just three months time, a testament of the power you can generate by mere bookmarking and promotions. Aside from these advantages you will also know numerous friends that could help you land in a job online or at least get some writing tasks to boosts your income.

4. Experiment, make constant changes all the time with your profile, keep on making improvements and make your Hubbing activities filled with more creativity and excitement.

5. Many Hubbers are successful in writing about topics that are their bread and butter, or in other words their forte, their strengths or their specialization. Concentrating on the niche you are excellent with, will indeed help you write even better since you know by heart what you are trying to convey and emphasize with your write-ups. Make an enduring hubs aside from being created with passion, though.

6. Make a goal for yourself. Set the number of hubs you are willing to do in the months or perhaps years to come. With the past experiences it is inevitable that you learn from them. Use your experience to write even better, do not repeat doing past mistakes. Remember that things that will not kill you will make you strong. Study your hubs that gave you strings of stirring success especially those that gave you lots of page views and even hits and draw some lessons from these in making your future articles.

7.Win a lot of friends here at HubPages they can be your source of strength, although this is my Achille's Heel since my work spreads my time and energy thin, it gave tremendous advantage to a lot of Hubbers here. More friends means more generic page views that could help you propel your Hub en route to having your article (having met the originality, quality and ample enough contents departments) getting featured and exposed to visitors that are more than willing to see and read your write-up.

Yeah emievil my pageviews improved a lot I am getting 200 to 300 pageviews now and it is constatntly improving. If you just made promotions recently you will reap the full rewards after a month because google will index them by constantly crawling at them all the time. And if the crawling will see substantial and powerful content it's pagerank increases that is proportional to more pageviews. Try twitter and post to your walls in Facebook, the more links your Hubs appears in other sites the stronger it gets. Thanks for the visit.

Hey GH, I get to comment first at last. Great tips here. Was just wondering though, have you been able to capitalize on number three? Cause I think that's where I'm lacking :).
