  I thought it was really neat when WF reached 1M views a few weeks ago and tons of Hubbers offered congratulations and appreciation for WF's contributions to the HubPages community. I hope to hear from Writer Fox again soon!

I was wondering the same thing! I never saw anything he posted that would offend anyone, but you never know with some of the recent threads started.
I hope he's ok also. Have you read his hub about The Fox Fairy Tale? I love it. It's very beautiful, creative writing.

  Writer Fox is an American who moved to Israel a number of years ago. I am positive he is a man, but cannot tell you why. I believe Fox might be his last name.
  
  What concerns me is that he has mentioned numerous times that bombs had been dropping all around him, and since he has been so active, I have some concern about his well being. Hopefully he's just on vacation, but I do wish we could hear from him soon.

Solares, I always assumed WF is male, but you're right, we don't really know. It doesn't matter, WF is missed. He appears to have disappeared from the forums eight days ago.
Sometimes people take a break. I know I've taken breaks before for various reasons, too much negativity, boring threads, busy life things, or simply wanting to spend more time doing more creative activities. WF is a smart fox. I'm sure we'll see him again.

  I dreamt a few months ago that Ellen Degeneres was in my store and I coughed on her groceries. (I was sick, and coughing in my sleep... not my fault.) The most depressing part was that even in my dreams where all things are possible and everyone can fly... I still worked in a grocery store.

Thanks to Patty for letting us all know that Writer Fox is at least Pinning and that he/she is active on the net.
There does seem to be a lot of our excellent hubbers that are disappearing. Maggie May from Nova Scotia, I think, Epigamman and his lovely cats form the shores of Lake, to name just a couple. Anybody know something I missed??

I miss Epi-Man and hearing about his cats and Writer Fox is one of my favorite people on HubPages. I have learned so much from him. I often wish he could beam himself to my computer room to audit my work and give me the instructions I need. I hope they are both well and happy and we will hear from them soon.

Maybe s/he has been temporarily banned form the HP forums?

Another hubber was referencing a thread where they felt attacked, reported it, and a chunk of comments were removed by admin. I just stumbled upon a thread started by that hubber, and several of WF's comments have been deleted. Maybe that is the thread which was being referenced and WF is the hubber who was reported?

  I'm not sure of the time frame, 2-3 weeks ago. I sent Writer Fox a message saying that I was sorry to see he was being attacked in the forums by a clique, and that he didn't deserve that. I suppose they did a mass report on him about how terrified they were. One of them was stalking his comments and being pretty nasty. Weird how things can be twisted by gangs.

  WF is one of the most reliable, knowledgeable and helpful people on Hubpages. I can't imagine this ban....I know he is a stickler for accuracy (which sometimes annoy me) but I've never seen him rude or nasty to anyone.

  On his profile it says 11 HOURS ago, on the Hub it says 11 DAYS. They must have gotten hours and days crossed. Since he is the first comment and the rest are weeks ago, I doubt if his would be hours ago.

  @Glen, do you think that activity referred to his comment finally being approved. I know that it doesn't show up as activity until the author approves it.

  The weekend of the 24th had a lot of violence and unrest in the area around where he lives. If anyone hears from him, I hope they will let us know. (See, I had to use the word 'they'...) Be safe WF. We're thinking of you.

  That's not a reason to ban someone. Disagreements are expected in forums and they're within the forum rules. It's not that bans don't last long. It's that reports are being made over matters that could easily be shrugged off, and if someone receives a certain amount of bans, they lose their forum privileges.

  That's why using singular they/their is actually the preferred way to go. Up until the Victorians the English language actively used that form of address, and it's now coming back for just this sort of situation.

  Well, I was actually going to lengths to make a point... although not an important one. It's always welcomed when ppl allow us to know how to refer to "them", but not a big deal.
  
  I remembered learning that using them and they etc. instead of the proper pronoun was improper English, not that I am much of a stickler for that. Is it improper? Just curious.

  It was certainly improper when I was growing up (in the UK) but in recent years, I've noticed it becoming accepted practice.
  
  I think the reason is political correctness. When I was young, if you didn't know the sex of the person you were referring to, it was accepted that "he" and "him" were "neutral" pronouns in that context. The feminists found that unacceptable and for a while we were all saying "he or she" and "him/her" which made things very clumsy! The use of "They" and "them" solves the problem, although I still feel a bit uncomfortable every time I do it.

  It also has the feel of referring to someone in the plural... not that I don't do it, but like I said, I was kind of making a point. I understand why ppl might not want to share their identity, but keeping even your sex a secret kind of leaves the rest of us in the uncomfortable position of speaking to a specter. But not trying to make an issue, it's just a personal preference.

  There was a thread like this about you when you disappeared. A lot of people were upset that you left (including myself). I was delighted when you returned. It's the same thing. When we get attached to other hubbers we feel a loss when they disappear from the site, even for a short period.

  You would have to ask HQ, since they are the ones who made the decision to remove that section of the thread before a staff member replied to it. I did not feel badly that it was removed, since it in no way contributed to the discussion, or my question in the original post.

There seems to be some assumptions in this thread that are not confirmed, and assumptions often lead to drama and rumours. Maybe Fox is on vacation and did not want to advertise it... maybe.

His Bio titled 'A Fox Fairy Tale' is very interesting and cute. You will enjoy it, I am sure.

Rather than assume things, let's just hope Fox is okay and safe in his den.

okay, I see my name mentioned! Let me clear this one up. It is weird.
WF had commented on one of my hubs, which I had already approved.

I saw a post about finding Spam comments and how to do it. I did this yesterday, I believe. WF had a comment, among a few others, that had been declared to be spam somehow. Anyway, I had to declare the comment by WF and the others not to be spam. WF did not leave the comment yesterday or the day before. In fact, WF made the comment on the hub 11 days ago.

Hope that somebody hears from WF soon!

The stupidty of it is that the comment had been approved 11 days ago, yet when I went to click on comments, and then spam, it showed not only comments by WF, but by others being spam, even though they had already been approved. Now the hub I am referring to does not even show up in the list of hubs with approved comments.

Poor Mark:I think he should have an accolades made just for him, being the most banned hubber! Only thing is, he is another one that seems to get banned for nothing but those who should be slapped are allowed to do as they please.

  I got the snot kicked out of me and I really appreciated Mark's kindness.
  Will Apse and WF always went at it tooth and nail and I had always really liked Will... therefore, I was not well liked by WF... but like I said, he/she has been very cordial since I have returned... maybe he/she doesn't know it's me. lol

Glen: WF comment was approved 11 days ago, but ended up in the Spam comments somehow, along with several other already approved comments. I had to fix them and get them out of spam comments yesterday. WF is back!
