Hi Ken.... I got told that this was a site that would allow me to test my writing skills and have my work actively and objectively critiqued.. I had never written before and didn't know what to expect or even if I could write with the accent I have.
A year later and I've found my accent has nothing to do with it!
I joined because it gives me the opportunity to write whatever I want, for free . Plus the platform is great and I get to see samples of writings from some really great writers here.
I joined Hub Pages because I've been writing for many years and have gotten no where. So I'm trying to get my name out there so I can become known. My main goal as far as writing is concerned is to start my own writers column. A column very simliar to the Dear Abby's column. Check out my most recent book titled "Resident Manager A job Truly Underestimated by Most". It's about my experiences in property management.
Because I have had the urge to write for years but never really found a platform to share it. Then, when I found HubPages, I was reluctant at first...like stage fright. Once I got through that things seemed to work. I didn't come here under the guise of making money. I just wanted to write and share, then get some feedback as well. WB
Hello Ken,
Great question. I am enjoying the responses. For me, there are two primary reasons. I am an avid reader and there is really a great amount of talent here. True talent, awaiting or working on discovery. Also, whether advanced or beginner, writing, writing and writing some more is crucial.
Being able to write about whatever I want and share it with others has huge appeal. I'm not sure if I could ever complete a book and I have so many different topics I could write about. I share my personal experiences and insights on difficult themes hoping to make people think and understand. I like that I can make gradual improvements and adjustments here and there.
I enjoy writing and others have been validating my writing. I am also learning lots of other people, about my life's journey and also about improving my writing.
Making any money is a remote possibility and would be a bonus but not my motivation.
I joined because I love to write. Hub Pages seems like a great place to do it, plus I might make a few pennies here and there. I figured, "why not give it a go? I also enjoy the feedback I get from so many other folks. There are a lot of really great people on here. I get to visit with people and still get to be a loner.
To write about what is important to me and get thoughts from others as to their perception of things going on nowadays. I write mostly about the radical changes our government is undertaking to take away our rights and the laws that protect us, to turn us into a Slave/Police State.
Well, I was told I don't write well many years ago so I never prectised it anymore. and that was a mistake 'Cause If you want to achive anything you have to practice constantly!
But now I have a reason & motivation to do it
Really it was to write, read, and be around other people who enjoy doing the same things in order to learn and grow.
Very hard and wise Question.
Why I join Hubpages?
Because here I can share my Poems Books and can get Lots of knowledge and Love.
The holy book says that my people perish ,because of lack of knowledge.i joined so as to help humanity with the knowledge that i have.
I like to write for fun, even if not professionally. I wanted to share my writings with people other than just family and friends and see what people thought about them. I also like to include my photography in the hubs.
share my knowledge and get some bucks. I can learn to write hubpages. I also get opportunity to get money from Adsense or Ebay
I wanted to write about the things I like and know for a very long time. And when I stumbled upon HubPages I knew that was it. And, earning some money in the process, why not?
I looked at Hubpages for months before actually signing up. It is similar to other sites I also write on.
I finally joined Hubpages as another place to provide information to people all over the world. I write about events, people, music, and different topics that interest me, that may also interest a much larger audience as well.
Another reason I joined is the social aspect, I enjoy being active with comments from readers on my hubs and commenting back. I am slowly becoming active within the forums as well.
And another reason..... is I also gain value form the informative writings from all the other Hubbers here I come across where I can.
I write, I read, I comment, I participate and so do so many others.
A friend invited me here. He said you have to see this great place. I looked as his hub, and was very impressed with what I saw. It has been very eye opening ever since, especially with the food contest going on now.
um....lol I don't have a really awesome story behind it or anything. I just enjoy writing.
I join hubpages because it is ads sharing website with Adsense. Also it helped to get me an approved Adsense account.
I have joined this site because it encourages every writer- regardless of new or experienced- if he/she writes genuinely. And I love to write therefore I am here.
Hey Ken, I joined mainly to get feedback on my work and poetry, as I'm in school and trying to get good grades. However, I saw that they had a way to make a small income, so the money that I may make on here will go towards my Japanese tuition, while I make hubs on what I'm learning. So if anyone wants to help me with my writing or just help me get atleast 10p in my AdSense account, it'd be appreciated a lot
I have been trying to remember.
Sheesh, it was barely 3 weeks ago.
I can tell you why I am still here, but I cannot remember what brought me here to begin with.
Initially, I found FaceBook to be restrictive in terms of wordcount.
I happened upon HubPages as a result of a Google search for writing opportunities wherein Unchained Grace Ministries could broaden its horizons.
Why I joined? I found there to be quite a broadbased category wherein I'd be among likeminded writers who would be both helpful and objective in terms of their comments. Now, here's the second part:
Why I stayed?
I began to find alliances among other Hubbers. It never really had anything to do with the income possibilities. It appeared that some made a few bucks here and there, but the pay that really means the most to me is when something I wrote puts a smile on someone's face and realistic hope in their life.
"I am who God says I am."
That Hub, for example, may not ever make a nickel but the email and comments that came from it were all about hope and encouragement. Ya can't buy things like that.
To practice writing & determine what I write about that interests people.
I joined because Hubpages is a place where you can learn and share ideas. Hubpages is very community oriented, which is a quality that I like. There are very knowledgable members who contribute information out of genuine willingness to help others. Another reason why I joined is the money making incentives. Also, the culture on Hubpages seems supportive of individuals new to online or freelance writing.
Curiosity, now i wrote two hubs in two days, god i hope its not an addiction
I joined hubpages to really express myself. Its a platform to write and opinionate on many issues as well as absorbing information from others. Here information is the treasure that everyone shares. Its a WIN-WIN situation and the best thing is I get paid to do what I like!
At the time of my joining hubpages, it was mainly to do some kind of writing here and earn whatever possible. But, after joining here, I found this is the very simplest area for even non-writers. It's a great circle for having good people around you and sharing your thoughts to the right people. It is a two-in-one for me now. Write & earn, exactly to say. My additional benefit is moving around a good circle.
Total dumb luck.
I'd never heard of Hub Pages before, nor was I looking to put writing on the internet or to make money, though I've been writing privately for years now.
I had an opinion to share about a hub that I found via google and found out I had to sign up to comment. So I did and then proceeded to not know what the heck I was doing for a week until Ken introduced me to Hub Mob and that's how I got hooked. HP welcome crew strikes again!
Hi Ken, interesting question! I decided to join Hubpages to sharpen my writing skills..i love writing but i haven't really done it properly. I had another account in other site, wrote couple of articles, posted pictures but not really in to it, mostly people do business and there are less appreciation from the folks there for what you wrote.
Here on Hubpages, i found it seems much more active than some other writing sites i've known..the hubbers are more appreciative and participative..probably because mostly people here are the real writing-lovers..not to mention the business side of Hubpges (amazon associates, ebay, googleAdsense, Kontera, etc).
Another strong urge for me is, to practice and developing my english skill and comprehension since I am not an English native speaker.
The more i stay here the more i found out there are a lot of great people here..great writers..great stories/hubs..and great opportunity to earn money by doing your hobby..lucky me!
I want to write, and read what others write, and be around other people who enjoy doing the same things. I hope I will learn a lot more about writing.
I'd say the reason I joined is to share information, write just for the sake of writing and to connect with other people. This site seems pretty great for that so far.
I joined hubpages because I love to write! The income from writing is a bonus when you already enjoy doing what you are doing.
I've always felt that I've had a gift for writing. However, I haven't really had the option of writing only what I want to for a while, and I wanted to sharpen my skills as a writer. I'm challenging myself to write one hub each day on average, and I expect it to help get my creative juices flowing, help people with things, and I can even get a bit of money with it as well.
I've been writting for as long as I could hold a pencil. My family and friends have always admired my stories. They have always encouraged me to write and publish. Its my dream. On hubpages I can really find out if I have what it takes.
I came to HubPages because I wanted to unravel what I feel is my gift of writing and perhaps hope.. I also want to leave an imprint of seraphim11 somewhere.. I am glad I joined
There are millions of good reason to join hub pages.
They are best for quality writers.
I joined because it's fun to write articles about my favorite cars, topics, etc., inform people about what I know, and make a few cents while I'm at it.
to make money
actually there is a story behind it.when i said to my friend that we can make money through internet,he just laughed and said it's all fake, don't waste your time.from there on,it was my ambition to make money online.that's why am here,i can save hosting, domain cost by using hubpages, and also don't need to do any designing or coding work here. i love you hubpages, you are really great.
My main reason for joining HubPages was so that I could write what and when I wanted to.It is great to be able to log on and share whatever with everyone without having to worry about my usual readership. The freedom to write basically anonymously is brilliant. I WANT to write here. Other blog services I have used in the past have never given me that feeling.
I have joined Hub pages because of its simplicity...
Its the easiest web creation platform.. Plus it allows me earn as well ..
I want teach people and learn from them. I'd like some visibility, too.
Ken,
I joined Hubpages because I needed a really Good outlet for my writing and content. Though besides having an outlet and a place to post my content, I also required a place that could generate revenue for me from my content and writings'.
I've tried so many places and different websites and nothing did it for me quite like Hubpages does. So in retrospect Hubpages allows for me to share my content and writing's with the entire hubpages community, generate revenue from different streams of incomes and allow for free traffic.
Nothing beats that, besides I hoping one day that my Hub's will eventually allow for me to write full time from home. So everyday will be me writing and wishing and hoping.

Hi,
I joined to read people's opinions about the things I search online...
All my life, I have always wanted to publish books. Every year, as often as she could, my mother would take my brothers and I to the library to take out books to read. I can remember when my first grade teacher taught how to write a poem. I wrote about my favorite shoes, and then I kept on writing. After picking up a bible at the age of ten, I wanted to write my own psalms. At the age of 13, I started writing children stories. At the age of eleven, I also started writing lyrics to my own songs. So, hub pages has been a gift from God. This experience has been very gratifying. I get new ideas every day, so now I have to keep a journal for my hubs.
I wanted to do a journal about my exercise attempts/goals. Seemed a good way to do that.
I learned about this site because of one topic I got interested in... then I realized blogging here is a different experience so I decided to join...
Cause Sunforged made me do it.
After seeing his facebook posts to his hubpages, I finally read one of his hubs. It happened to be an entertaining one on what to do if you lose a tooth. So, I decide it would be a fun place to write.
I jopined by linking other pages. I have to admit I love the thought of being part of a writer's community
