I placed some RSS feeds from Yahoo on my site , i have ads of adsense on the site and someone has told me that i may be penalised by yshoo and adsense since am to supposed to show ads on rss feeds. I would like to know wetha its really true
Select the option "Adsense for feeds" while getting the Ad code and you won't get banned for displaying ads on feeds.
Hope this helps.
Hello there!! Listen is it word or world? Did you actually write all your hubs please explain the misunderstanding. You have to understand that you dealing with some elite people, they are educated and want to keep hub pages= smart pages, like smart water. so please talk and explain what happened? I am not judging you yet. Just curious. Thankz.
HubPages may have some elitists but most of us are just here to write. I have found every level of writing here from highly skilled to casual writers. The judgmental attitude I'm seeing from hubbers against their fellow writers does much more damage to our site than anything a single writer could do. Maybe world of the wise collaborated with somebody or had a translator help him. If you wanted to go on a witch hunt, you could do much better than a second language writer.
Mrvoodoo - your avatar is historical-age appropriate. Love it
You already have...

"I placed some RSS feeds from Yahoo on my site , i have ads of adsense on the site and someone has told me that i may be penalised by yshoo and adsense since am to supposed to show ads on rss feeds. I would like to know wetha its really true"
Seriously, I cannot even fathom how HubPages could promote a score of 89 to a "writer" who has such horrific grammatical and spelling errors in the above few sentences.
Before you even consider "writing" anything else, please get a grasp of the English language.
Try this for example:
I placed some RSS feeds from Yahoo on my site. I have AdSense ads on the site. Somebody told me I may be penalized by Yahoo and AdSense since I am supposed to show ads on RSS feeds. I would like to know whether this is really true.
Is this what HubPages is about? If so, then HubPages is in serious need of an immediate overhaul in the methodology in which it calculates scores.
I may claim that the proper spelling of 'penalized' should be PENALISED! I dont think you'll find it with a Z in the Oxford Dictionary!
Dont be so critical of other hubbers. We are a friendly community here MADAM!
Really now, as I found this in the OXFORD DICTIONARY!
• verb 1 subject to a penalty or punishment. 2 Law make (an action) legally punishable. 3 put in an unfavorable position.
Seems like you are spoiling for a fight - you have completely ignored the sound advice of other hubbers and decided to pick upon one small point. Why?
Ultimately, there are a lot of Hubbers with ESL, and they produce some excellent and informative Hubs - if you want to start criticising and denigrating them, try Helium for size.
You don't have to read their Hubs, so why are you bothered about the standard of English in a forum post?
Obviously you don't know what you are talking about. Go to bed now. You might feel better in the morning.
Remember to APOLOGISE to world of the wise for being so nasty.
I’m sure there’s a lot to be said for ending up old and alone, but hey, you’ll always have your grammar, and as for HubPages being a site for 'writers', incorrect.
HubPages is used in many different ways by many different people.
The who point is to write with some sense, no? Even if you are trying to pass information doesnt it need to be written correctly, at least to the best of your ability. Education is our respect for nature, those people who can write are more intersting to read. How you speak is how you write. I want my kids to be able to write and express their feelings, not to just a certain group but to all groups. hub pages are mainly for writers who spend their time on education and educating. Our kids need people like that in the world. Education is freedom, so is writing. We all should want to become better writters, and speakers and let our mind expand. Please exuse my spelling. Love to all Koma.
You may want to educate yourself about what hubpages are
Better yet tell me in your own words, or just educate me on what you might be using it for? Last time i woke up i thought its for good writers that are fun to read and talk to. so..... iam waiting. One more thing, why not talk to trolls? Are they from a different blood line? lol
If you give it a tour, you will find out that Indian half-naked chicks vastly outnumber the written hubs, and out of the written hubs the majority is internet marketing.
Thats sad but a little correct, ok now i know what ill make my next hub lol. Some men are such dogs wow!! and they dont need any grammer or spelling to look at girls? lol I have much more respect for writers who care about something different than porn. But if porn they want lets give them porn stories. iam kidding, but you know every joke has some truth to it. Misha you can write Sushi porn stories are you down for some action. lol
Wow. That was rather uncalled for. Perhaps English isn't his first language?
Yes so how did he write his cool hubs then, i just have a problem with it only if he copies and pastes. It just didnt make sence.
i dont care about his spelling, just wondering if he is a real w thats all folks. He should of answered by now, I know i would for sure because English is my 2nd la. If this was a all russian hubpages people would not like it if their lang was played with.
I do not think the English is that bad, you should see my Mandarin. Lousy!
Seriously I do not think it helps to be critical of spelling, you will get it wrong yourself one day.
HubPages is written in the English language. Therefore, it upsets me to see people struggling and attempting to write hubs on HubPages who have absolutely no command of the English language whatsoever.
Furthermore, the attempted English in the aforementioned quoted sentences from "word of the wise" is an absolute atrocity.
I am in no way a prejudice person; however, if one does not know how to put a period at the end of a sentence, spell or capitalize words correctly, etc., then one should not even bother attempting to write at all. After all, HubPages is all about writing.
ouch.... i bet your hubs are perfect.......and making ya millions
hey ultimate hubber, your pic is hot, and kudos to you for a genuine answer to the op!!!
Ok Miss Hubby-it-e Tub, at least 'world of the wise' has a reason for his bad Grammar, what is yours for getting his name wrong ?
First off, I believe you mean “I am in no way a prejudiced person…” Second, and more importantly, you are SERIOUSLY kidding yourself. Not a prejudiced person?!?! Holy Toledo!! All evidence to the contrary. PLEASE look up this word.
Agree with your points on this Sufidreamer, and most everyone else, except the “I’m not prejudice” Hub Tub.
Cosette, where are you? Please, need the little head banger here!
"HubTub" talk about elitist!
For someone that claims to care about the correct use of English grammar, you've actually got an awful way with words. I sure wish you were illegible.
Personally I think world of the wise has worked hard since he's joined HP. He's contributed to the forum, (read: community) and I would generally view him as a worker and someone that's willing to learn.
*wanders off, wondering if "HubTub is related to her mother"
Here, "Hot Tub." Just FYI, 'printed' earlier by Ralph Deeds:
Currently there are 7.5 million U.S. participants on HubPages and 6.3 million from other countries accroding to Quantcast.
Here are the top countries according to Quantcast
Country Uniques (Cookies) Uniques
United States 8,101,784
United Kingdom 1,033,773
UAR ... 149,816
It's interesting that most of the top participant countries are former British colonies where English is spoken.
HubPages is more "international" than most other similar sites although, as you said, much of the Hub and forum discussion content involves U.S. issues. Perhaps HubPages should consider establishing sections for countries or areas of the world such as the Middle East, Europe, Latin America. There is no reason why the 357,000 Australians could not establish an Australia forum or the Indians, an India Forum or grouping of hubs. It's worth noting, however, that there are a fair number of Hubs and discussions of issues such as global warming that are world issues, not U.S. issues.
I have trouble believing the Australian figure. I live in an Australian city with more users than that!
I live in one of the original "british colonies" where english is spoken
we all stink at it here
seriouslly, you had to have 4 years of it to graduate high school, and the majority of people who didnt gradute, it was becuase of English. I actaully did very well, I understand the concept, but in a forum, I lack the personal discipline to go back and correct myself.
what is "Country Uniques (Cookies) Uniques" ?
OOPS! Now you did it yourself:
"I am in no way a prejudice person;"
should be prejudiced with a "d"
The word "prejudice" is a noun. You want the adverb in this context, which is "prejudiced".
If you read my earlier post, I never said I was perfect.
There are just too many illiterate people in the world who don't take the time to even attempt to try and spell correctly. I don't care if it is a forum or an authentic article. Spellchecker is a tool, not an excuse.
Illiterate people who don't take the time to even attempt to spell correctly, huh, isn't that kind of the whole problem with illiteracy?
It really is bad when a person can not aske a question no matter how the spell and the only answer from one is to not answer or know the answer. Why don't you try to help him in finding the answer to his question. Or dont read his hub. My spelling stinks but my questions are real.
I think if the RSS feed is *Related* to your content. You should be okay but don't quote me on that.
I don't have any problems with allowing people with English as a 2nd language to be allowed to write at HubPages. I think it's great that they arrive here to improve their writing and share. I say thank you to Word of the Wise and all others who practice I prefer to look at the positive outcomes.
I don't have a problem with it either but I think the saying is "word to the wise".
In reply to the comment about grammar: Some of the hubers on here do not have English as there first language and I salute them for producing hubs in an alien form. When commenting in the forums this can come across in a negative way towards them. When they write their hubs they will have tools to help them spell check. Here on the forums my spelling can be awful and I am English as there is no spell check here. So I think we should be a little more understanding and with an author score as high as it is I am sure you are doing everything right as hubpages would not allow you such astatus.
Yes, you are right. Even a simple carelessness can result a mistake. Such as "astatus" in your quote. You have simply forgotten to give a space between a and status.
I think people will think before they comment. You are absolutely in right spirit.
Must admit, I am not into this using perfect English thing, either.
Considering my struggles with Greek, I am not going to judge a Hubber's use of the English language. I also teach a little ESL and I think that it is great that others have the confidence to write and publish articles in another tongue - it is a great way to practice and learn.
Instead of making such comments in an overbearing tone, why not be helpful and offer constructive criticism?
Does your wife speak fluent Greek Sufi? I had 7 years of hearing perfect mandarin, and I am awful. I would never attempt it for fear of bringing the house down.
When I spoke Mandarin with an Australian accent in front of our Lord mayor and his friends at a party, I did so at the behest of a very honest friend who told me I sounded hilarious to him! Despite his honesty and my trust for him, I spoke. There was not a dry eye in the place! They were crying with laughter!
Nope, her Greek is worse than mine! The problem is that I work very long hours and don't get out and about enough to practice. I can hold basic conversations, and most discussions turn into 'Greeklish.'
Mind you, I have heard from many people that Greek is a strange language to learn - you spend a couple of years struggling to learn it and, suddenly, you find yourself speaking it!
A few months ago, I went to the library and asked for the Greek dictionary. The guy pissed himself laughing and took me to the reference section - the 'dictionary' took up three and a half shelves. Too many words!
hell man I got a job publishing in English. Got my dictionary from pre-school out of the attic and I am meant to be educated.
If you are a HP writer you might want to take a look at your spelling etc.
What might be unforgiven in a hub, is forgiven in the forums.
Ronaldos you have just proved the point yourself in missing out punctuation. Do you see my point here? We are a little more relaxed in the forums and need to have a little understanding for are fellow hubers who struggle with the English spelling and grammar as every single one of us had made typo errors in here. So for someone to be critical "people who live in glass houses should not throw stones".
yeah i see what you mean LOL, you just had a mistake yourself !
Sorry, but I disagree. I believe effective communication should be utilized at all times, whether it be a forum or not.
Your communication is not effective, however. You are being rude and disrespectful. Effective communication goes WAY beyond proper command of the English language.
Ha ha no I am not saying this in a bad way I was just making a valid point. Gosh my spelling has got worse with age not better and when I started hubpages I was frightened to write in case I got slammed by all the intelligent writers. I am glad to say that hubpages has not been reduced to forums like Triond and AC as they are really, really nasty. So lets hug!!!!! and have some huber lovexxxxx
I remember, you were the very first one to come to my rescue when i just started out in the forums. Man, i was eaten alive !
My day just got better. Well, not with Adsense though, but people like you !! Thanks
I don't really know about the rss question, however I know that the hubbers who answered the question earlier know their stuff and I would go with that.
Also I just want to say that some of the best hubs on hub pages are written by those with english as their second language and often what is missing in spelling ect is made up with insight, style, voice ect.
Here is some friendly advice:
english = "English"
rss = "RSS"
hub pages = "HubPages"
ect = "etc"
It is simply called proofreading your work and taking the time to learn the English language. Do some research as to how grammatical and/or spelling errors hurt your website. Also, take a look at how these types of errors make one look less credible and subject to less trust. There are THOUSANDS of articles all over the Internet and elsewhere!
I am not a perfect person in any way and definitely do make mistakes. However, I do not condone laziness and sloppy work as an excuse for not knowing the English language.
etc = etc. It is an abbreviation.
why are you so worked up about it?
How many languages do you know?
Yes, I agree with you, etc is an abbreviation, but you unfortunately spelled it incorrectly. It is not spelled ECT!
No, I did not. I know it is not "ect." As an abbreviaton, it needs a period at the end. If you are going to point a finger, and say someone made a mistke, you should make sure your correction, is correct. The original question, was not..."please pick on my grammar". It was for help with an RSS feed.
If you are so big on rules, you should read the rules for forums.
I can see a large grey box, right over there, to my left. It states.. "Please use the Forums in the spirit of community!"
Most of us, here at Hub Pages, feel this is a friendly, helpful, community. I know, I have made plenty of mistakes, and greatly appreciate NOT having people jump down my throat. I am not picking a fight with you, I am out of here after this, but perhaps you would benefit from a slight attitude adjustment.
<no promotion allowed> Thanks all hubbers and if you can help me you can help everybody.!!
It is a forum post - why don't you give it up? Like most people, I do not waste time spellchecking and proof-reading forum posts. In fact, I judge somebody by what they are saying rather than by whether their capitalisation or punctuation is correct.
I teach Greeks who might not understand or write 'perfect' English. However, they manage to convey their meaning perfectly well. Your views are now bordering on the offensive - not everybody can write perfect English, but I respect any ESL speaker who tries.
Emie - Maybe you are right. HubTub - if you want advice on how to raise your Hubscore, you may find that we are surprisingly helpful
I don't recall Hubpages recruiting a Head English Teacher for Forums. Why on earth are you picking on people's Grammar?
For the record, as a hunt and peck typist, I can spell........my fingers can't.
Apparently my hunter is not as good as my pecker.
HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was awesome!!!
I call myslef a Ninja, for my typing skills. so many words come out wrong, and sometimes it is horribaly embaressing.
"count" comes out as ocunt
and "it is" almost always comes out itits... Plus, I only know one language, to be able to read, and type AT ALL in a second language makes that guy way above my skills!! And he even knows what an RSS feed is. I odnt.
Please stop being so pedantic hub tub. Hubbers are here to support each other and the forum is a friendly place (most of the time) This thread was posted asking for help, please be respectful.
"Seriously, I cannot even fathom how HubPages could promote a score of 89 to a "writer" who has such horrific grammatical and spelling errors in the above few sentences."
Sufi, I think she's a little bit "annoyed" because world of the wise's score is higher than hers.
HubTub, sheeesssh, get a grip on it. You're beginning to sound like my English teacher back when I was still in high school.
DM, LOL. You're here too? I just saw your post in the other thread .
LOL, the forums are getting interesting. Bed, what bed? LOL
I could care less about my score. I am not here to compete. I do, however, care about the English language when reading. I also don't appreciate plagiarism!
Are you really really sure that you care less? You don't sound like it girl.
Do you need a back rub or something? Is it PMS? You sound soooo (oops!!) depressed.
You hit the nail on the head with regard to my hub score. I reiterate that I am not here to compete with others regarding hub scores. I really could care less. There are many more important things in life than HubPages and hub scores.
HubTub: I think you mean to say you could NOT care less.
It's weird how someone who cares about the English language can still manage to say something that makes no sense...
I hope that if I ask a question in a forum later, I will not get attacked before somebody has a chance to help me out.
That is not the type of community we want to have.
Hey! emievil, you took the words out of my "mouth?". I think world of the wise's higher hubscore MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM here!
Quote from "World of The Wise"
world of the wise on HubPages
I am an Economics grad, every thing good makes me good. I have so far published 2 book and i am anything to anyone who is somebody to me. I have just set up a site <snipped> which i believe will be big big big soon.
My other sites include
I will be glad when you visit me
Sorry, but the above sites all look like AdSense In A Box.
Furthermore, I sincerely find it hard to believe, after perusing the aforementioned hubber's hubs and comparing them to the written bio from this same hubber, that these hubs were actually written by this hubber.
This is obviously nothing short of pure PLAGIARISM.
"Furthermore." "Perusing." "Aforementioned." In one sentence, huh.
LOL. I for one find this entire thread sort of funny, .
Sorry. Proceed, surely.
Hub Tub, your tenacity is very familiar. Not a good thing. Are you habitually mean-spirited?
Perhaps I worked very hard perfecting my work as a medical transcriptionist (which I know you can relate to, having worked in the medical field yourself), which is also a profession that is very demanding of having an excellent command of both the medical as well as the English language.
From HubTub on HubPages:
I thoroughly enjoy writing about topics I am passionate about. I find that writing releases raw tension, stress, as well as being a very powerful tool in numbing my brain from life's external distractions.
Interestingly enough, I just ran a couple of his hubs through my plagiarism detector and found no duplicates.
Making an unfounded accusation of plagiarism is extremely offensive - I suggest that you find some proof before you start throwing that accusation around. Maybe he is more careful with his writing on his Hubs than the forum. Perhaps he has an editor or employs a ghostwriter (both perfectly acceptable to Hubpages).
What he does in his own private blogs is his own business, and nothing to do with Hubpages - as long as he does not overpromote(and I see no evidence of that).
I have no idea what this particular hubber has done to deserve such vitriol. You are making extremely serious insinuations against a fellow Hubber and you have made this into a personal attack against his integrity.
Try reading Theresa McGurk's Hubs - there is a Hubber who can legitimately claim to use perfect English. She has far too much class to spend her time upon pedantic and spiteful attacks.
what is going on here sufi.... is it another fruit cake
Sufi, as you have seen, I tried to be honest about the impression Helen was giving early on, thinking she would understand that many who write here are not native English speakers. It is a big world and somehow she only wants to be around "correct writing"
She does not wish to change her view despite many polite nudges that followed from you and others.English is spoken all over the planet and it aint always the same. No slack!
I'm over it.
Hey, this is wierd. When I first opened this thread, on the side where it says ..10 seconds ago...it siad "helen" was one of the first to respond to this thread, with the whole big attack..I was like, thats wierd, Helen is usally really nice...Then later down Helen was saying supportive stuff, and the other person was..Hub Tub....it didnt show that at first tho...so ..I dont think it was Helen. Maybe I need to go to the Dr. ?
As far as I can tell you are right. My humblest Apologies to you Helen. Hey thank you for picking that up!
Im sure she's good. I thought the same thing at first, lucky I was here? oh odd...
Phew I got worried there for a minute. I would never put someone down like that lady has. I guess it pays to read the thread from the start as these things happen. But for the record I have supported whole hearted the original writer of this hub and thanks earnesthub for correcting this.
hey there Helen, the whole reason I ever even looked at this thread, really, is when I first logged on, this was at the top if the list, with YOUR name as the person who last repsonded. I have no clue how this could happen, but I swear, it said YOU had said the mean post at the begining!!! I read thru to the end, and was like, wierd, why did helen say that mean thing at the beginning, then the nice thing later on, so I scrolled back up, and suddenly it was that grammar nazi...
I am sure no one is mad at you.
Mistakes happen I just came back on and thought to myself this is weird why are they saying I said it. Anyways no harm done i can go out and have a good old drink now. Boy this thread sure got heated from just a simple request for help. The way I see it is if your not willing to answer the help question or at least give the person some support, then you should really not be taking part in a forum Knowledge exchange thread. Period.
Agreed, Earnest - I have said my piece. If I continue, it is likely to become personal - not in the Spirit of Community
I worked very hard perfecting my work as an academic writer and I love giving encouragement and advice to new Hubbers, as many old hands did for me.
I am done here - Time to go and enjoy some banter with Pearldiver and Brenda on the fruitcake thread
Not really much of a drama. Helen is a kind hearted person of generous spirit, and I feel confident she will accept my sincere apology. Nice to see you Misha!
Its cuz you werent here with some really good links, to put that hublady in her place!!
Hi Earnest, no doubt she will. I was refering to the original drama. Some people do weird things sometimes
And yeah I misspelled referring
LOL I just unfaned her
And yeah, I doubt one can find unfan in the dictionary
Hi Dennise, hugs and kisses
well, I suppose she is kinda pretty..I can see how you were once a fan.
smooches to you too.
I am being so lazy today. I did not sleep last night, and now have no motivation...I supppose I should go clean my kitchen tho.
Between the younger kid adapting to scholl (she knows no english) and moving to another house - hectic at best
How is our list going?
hectic...i feel for you
younger, in grade K or? I have heard the younger you are, teh easier it is to learn a new language. I am 33, and still dont have a good grip on it.
list is like a tortoise..slow and steady...
if you see me here, it means I am working on the list, I pop in here while something else is loading. want me to mail you?
I am nearly finished on here, tho..need to go to focus on other stuff..it is getting late and I still havent washed the dishes.
She is 3, and her brother is 5, and they both go to Montessori.
Actually today was the best day to her so far, I keep my fingers crossed. Yeah, they learn it more or less fast, but it takes a lot of stress unfortunately.
Good that you are progressing with the list, will send you email
OH, such cute ages!!! Mine are 12, 9, and 8.
Every day gets better. But I think you know that.
I have heard of Montessori, but I am not sure what the difference is, between that, and public school...besides money.
(I truly wish I had better news about the list, but please dont think I have forgotten it. Will check email later today, got to go do lunch hre in a sec..))
As long as the kiddos have the love of thier Daddy, they will be ok. It is hard to see your children struggle, but I have a feeling thigns will turn around. Hang in there Misha.
Thank you very much, by the way, for removing me from your fan list, Misha....muah!
HP would not be the same without your dry Russian wit!
Yes, it is very dry and very Russian. Something I like when I see it in the culture. I have never been to Russia, but have worked with several and have know several Australian/Russian families.
I should say that the other way around. All my Russian friends here are Russian Australians and are not slow to remind me of it! Thankfully the people remain the same so they fit in very well with Australians.
HubTub, not only did you insult world of the wise by criticizing his grammar, you compounded it by accusing him of plagiarism and posting his profile in this forum in a rather forensic, accusatory way, and put quotation marks around the word "writer" as if to say 'well, you are certainly not a real writer, buddy'...that is UNcool.
i don't pay attention to my grammar in my forum posts in the same way that i do when i write hubs. it's a more relaxed medium and it moves fast so who wants to do all this self-editing?
frankly i am insuted by your treatment of this hubber. so you're a medical transcriptionist - i don't think that qualifies you as the end-all-and-be-all expert on English grammar. you come across as really smug. i could be wrong, but i don't think that is the way to get people to read your hubs.
However many times I see that, it still makes me laugh
Earnest - I have many Greek-Australian friends and it is a volatile mix. Never dull, though, and they are easily bribed with Vegemite!
We argue like.... well like Australians and Russians do! LOUDLY!!!!
I will try more vegemite, that is a good idea. See, Russians adapt!
Whereas my American friends still call it axle grease and can't even stand the smell of it!
Is vegemite like marmite? Marmite's made of yeast, it's yummy!
Misha - it is a horrible, brown sticky stuff, made from yeast extract. It is completely vile, but Aussies love it - it is not available around here, so we always make sure that friends and family bring some across for our Aussie friends
Well said cossette . Can I borrow that image?
Just my 2 cents before I call it a night here. The first post was like 9 days ago but hubtub dug it up 8 hours ago. Wonder why she did that?
your right. I just picked it off the top of the list, but it looks like something else is going on here.
Have to go to sleep now. I do hate to miss the action here in the forums because of the difference in time zone but I'm getting too sleepy to read stuff. Good night everyone. I'll dig up this thread tomorrow .
Oh, is that a rabbit butting his head against the wall? Reminds me of this book I read called "Bunny Suicides". Well actually I didn't read it 'cause it's all caricatures, and it was really funny.
Hubtub big on spelling not so hot on the old support of fellow hubbers huh!? Glad your all here to brighten up the thread!
Its interesting how easily everyone gets off topic in the forums, but I wanted to say ultimate hubber thanks for answering the question, it helps all of us who were wondering the same thing about RSS feeds and adsense.
LOL But Ernest says Russians like it? You guys got me puzzled, guess I have to try for myself when I get a chance
well if you want to get all technical, you are grammatically incorrect:
it is "try TO spell".
c'mon now you're just really being mean.
You are free to enforce any rule on your own forum. This forum does not have strict spelling rule

Plagiarism is a terrible thing. Obviously, this is not original or creative writing but rather stealing other people's work.
Hottub, hubtub, hothead, whatever your name is for someone so educated you really are stupid!
Call me anything you wish. At least I can sleep at night knowing how to spell, write, and convey my feelings in writing with an excellent command of the English language. As mentioned earlier, I have in no way claimed to be absolutely perfect. I don't really care what anybody thinks of me on this forum, by the way. I make a very nice living proofreading and editing manuscripts. I really don't need any help from HubPages to further my income. That is why I stated earlier, I could care less about my hub score. It is simply just a number which reflects no bearing on my wonderful income that I currently make elsewhere on the Internet.
I wish you all the best in your writing. Someday, however, your grammatical and spelling errors will indeed come back to haunt you.
thank you. you as well. Ayn Rand School for Surgical Technicians
Although you could care less about your hub score, I could not care less about my grammatical and spelling errors in the forum's or your assumption that it's going to haunt me. I do however think you are pedantic and prejudice. You have a bad attitude and that will come back to haunt you.
Well, I guess we'll both enjoy a simply marvelous "haunting" Halloween now, won't we?
why are you here at HubPages if you are so fabulously wealthy and in no need of their services?
i don't want to get banned so i will refrain from saying fully what i really think of you.
I came to HubPages to write my own articles and thoroughly enjoy reading the well-written articles of many other wonderful hubbers here on HubPages. I simply take offense at people claiming to write hubs (such is the case of World of the Wise), when it is quite evident that World of the Wise could not possibly have written those hubs independently, based on the poor English grammar that World of the Wise initially used in the post that began this lengthy forum topic.
I was under the impression that HubPages was intended for people to write their own hub articles, and not to have ghostwriters assisting in writing their hubs.
Feel free to say anything you wish about me. I am totally open to constructive criticism and am not in the least bit bothered by any comments any of the hubbers here in the forum have said or will say about me in the future.
To assume makes an ass out of you and me, only in this case, just you.
I'll have to leave you now to enjoy your own company, something about your avatar makes me vomit a little in my mouth.
This still going on? What kind of a teacher/writer/editor (who actually displays some basic errors I'd have issues with in my own writing) would come back to post here like you have? lol
But OK, your point is taken...I guess. You realize if you were really secure in your own work, you wouldn't have an issue with these non native English speakers, etc. ...The proof of anything with writing is always in the work itself. Hubscores, fans, all that crap etc., will never change that. And most of us understood what Hubpages is about long before, uh, seven months?
Try writing creative writing/poetry sometime. You'll get it... Few people read it, and you make absolutely no money off of it, but you still do it.
And as far as teaching...of course I'd assume you know better. You practically eviscerated the OP here. lol (Like the word?)
btw, like this word: "spontanesouly."
All right, so what is your point? What would you like done?
Why are you so upset when those who ARE actually professional writers understand Hubpages formula (or actually, I really have no problem in knowing there are people from other countries whose native language is not English)?
Also, this "plagiarism" tool doesn't seem to be very effective. Kinda like some language translators. lol
Oh, goodness, whatever will happen tomorrow when it is "talk like a pirate day"
Wow! She's still at it. Very persistent. Madam, I'm sure word of the wise will be very thankful to you for correcting him and acting as his pseudo-editor, going so far as to inform him that he "plagiarized" (and it's for free!). Your efforts, I'm sure, are very much appreciated.
BTW where is the fruitcake forum? Need to go grab some fun there before i go to bed (or come back to see if madam has finally gone to snooze land).
Sorry to jump in off of the original topic, but....
I gave that article checker a try and it doesn't seem very useful. One of my Hubs (100% original) got the following results:
Total Matched Phrases / Total Submitted 2% (1/43) 84% (36/43)
My Hub has not been indexed on Google, but it is on Yahoo, therefore the high percentage result. I tried searching just the text first and then by entering the URL. IMO, it would be more effective if it could recognize your URL and not compare to it when searching.
Exactly - that particular checker is designed for those wishing to check that they have not purchased articles that are copy and paste jobs.
Even without that, it is not proof of plagiarism - if you check my first few Hubpage articles, you will probably find 100%. They were already on ezine before I stumbled across this site - whilst HP penalizes duplicate content slightly, it is not against the TOS.......I really should find the time to rewrite those, one day. They are, however, my own work.
Finally, what is plagiarism? Unless somebody copy and pastes an article word for word, it is virtually impossible to prove. If somebody steals one of my articles, I will pursue them. If they spin it sufficiently, there is little that I can do and, to be honest, would not bother anyway.
Again, HubTub - you have questioned the integrity of a writer with no justification. You long since crossed the line
Oh, IDK I picked up from somebody here that you are supposed to put question mark inside of quotes in English. Is it wrong?
Inside when you're writing a narrative dialogue. I believe this is the only instance. Then again, ask HubTub, she'll definitely know.
if you are quoting someone who asked a question, you put the question mark inside the quotes. if you yourself are asking the question, you put it after the quotes.
i use copyscape.
i did a search on my own hubs, out of curiosity. for my latest hub, it flagged all of the text from some google ads for men's shirts.
for another hub, it flagged a whole string of text word for word - written by cosette on hubpages
for another hub, same thing, it flagged all the google ads for cereal.
in another one, it flagged similar text - the text is:
start a new hub
i use copyscape sometimes to see if anything i write is stolen from me. i find it kind of strange that she uses these tools to check on someone else. she must really have it in for this guy.
i am just wondering how being a Medical Transcriptionist qualifies someone as a professional editor.
As a medical transcriptionist, one must have an excellent command of the English language. Not only am I qualified to transcribe as a transcriptionist, I am also qualified to edit and proofread. I hope this answers your question.
then you know very little about what it really means to be a professional editor and writer.
i am not one to lord my profession over anyone or tell them how to write or conduct themselves. i could say a lot more about the differences between a medical transcriptionist's credentials vs. those of a professional writer and editor but you don't really want to go there, do you?
so why don't you just lay off of world - he's not hurting you is he?
"well-educated" is not a compound word and shouldn't be hyphenated. "well" is an adverb modifying the adjective "tempered".
, I agree with you! why does he write hubs so well then spells worse than me lol something is wrong with the art frame. I would check him too if i was in your place. What about his score, you know what good writers know how to not only spell but communicate in a writers language i understand that completely, he obviously messed up because i don't see one reply by him pass me my glasses if iam wrong. I don't see why hub pages give him all this credit and iam not a jealous person just super honest. Does hub pages have a system to check copy writers. Some people write for pleasing their soul and get paid some people write just to get money and will stop at nothing. How can you not question a bad speller with such a high score come on now common seance nothing else. I will take writing classes you guys inspire me. Thanks for listening Good night.
i have friends for whom English is a second language, but they are very well educated (more than I) and extremely bright and accomplished but because English is their second language, sometimes their writing or even their speaking is a little off. an ignorant person (one who doesn't know them from Adam) would just look at their writing or listen to their foreign accent and grammatical mistakes and assume they were an uneducated dimwit.
that is what people are having a problem with.
You remember what I was saying about your dry Russian wit......
*Scurries off to paint a little moustache on Grammar Nazi Misha's avatar*
No, I am afraid of being bitten, I would rather stay with your opinion.
Not that I have any idea what you ladies are talking about?
Good morning Ernest
Hey to Earnest...
Strunk and White is a very slim, easy-to-read style book.
You guys amaze me. To all the elite writers: When i read your articles they make me smile. You all write very well. I admit iam in between languages and i need time to write the correct way. Look writing is an art, something that iam good in,(Art) maybe better than some of you. I was never a bully or a troll. Matter of fact, I love America just like i love the English language, iam not a good writer but iam trying. Basically don't jump at spelling mistakes if you want to help, Please!! offer other advice if you will. We all have feelings at the end of the day. When iam talking here to all of you i feel free and i don't stress spelling or grammar, because we are all in the same boat. so next time just offer advice not attack like a Rottweiler. Some regular people in here need to express them self's also with out fear. If you need an elite club i have some where you may want to go . Iam addressing all the best writers Please be nice we look up to some of you. I always disliked bullies and i know jui jit sue. lol How to get better in witting? How can kids become better writers? We have enough stress in the world, please America is built on the labor of immigrants they work and die everyday just so we have the elite system supported and keep it moving, i should know my parents are still working so some of you can go to private schools and get proper education. I got to deep in to this. Good night to all. with love Koma.
Gurarantee her Prentice Hall Handbook is out AS WE SPEAK.
Give somebody a education and they think they are all that
@World of the Wise, do not let this woman *harassing* you get in the way of you continuing your writing. I think you're doing great.
I really don't get why some people get on their high horse to crap upon others. truly unprofessional behavior and a embarrassment to others.
Misha you have a long way to the elite your an alien lol. Just because you are a citizen now (maybe)!!!! gives you any right to say this funny remarks. Being Smart does not make you a complete person but i don't think you get that. Do you? Misha do you write articles in Russian too i would love to read some and get them checked and approved. lol Anyways i support and really admire some of the writers on hub pages including you misha. I still don't understand one thing, was it plagiarized( his articles)or not, i don't have time to read the whole tread. Maybe its not about the spelling shes ma about but she doesn't believe that he wrote all those articles i can understand that. We do need someone to check for plagiarism. I hope to only learn from some of you and hub pages Thanks for a great site. And all the best writers you know who you are keep teaching but softer please and not to much in your face action. Sorry for spamming i was really exited from my new hub. sorry misha my husband told me i do spam sometimes, i just talk a lot!! As you can see and this even comes out here ill watch it next time.
Hey, Koma... Will you go down to Utrecht Ave. in Borough Park Brooklyn...Ace Photo Digital...and pick up my $700 camera that they forgot to send me for 3 weeks? (!!!) And while you are there, could you send one of those schnazzy layered Russian cakes from one of the bakeries down there? lol
Sure no problem, you think thell give it to me or you want me to tell them to send it to you while iam there. And the cake ill make my husband get for you with my daughter , i just don't eat sweets like they do. They know what to get. where are you again? email me please ill be happy to help. I am getting another key Bord this one skips letters.
I'm just kidding! I ordered this camera from Amazon, did not receive it, and what do you know...it is supposed to have been shipped from Brooklyn. And I know exactly where that store is, under the F train on that street I don't like! lol, funny.
And I think Misha could use the cake, actually. To sweeten him up!
Well, the irony of this is that...lol...she isn't that 'educated.' But, sigh...grammar nazis are like that. It's that rules thing and the letter vs. the spirit of it all.
I beg to differ on your opinion of my education. I am a very well-educated person. This is why I am very picky about grammar and spelling. There are more "grammar nazis" out there than you realize.
The only embarrassment is the lack of being professional and not editing your work before it is submitted for final copy.
OK, 'Ma'am,' lol, but I think you would probably be a lousy teacher...and you see the OP was looking for help and advice.
And we all have our opinions.
Funny you mention teaching, as I used to teach in the medical field. My students loved me!
Did you go all "furthermore!" and "atrocities" on them, or did you keep that in check?
And you taught medical transcription? Hmmm.
Actually, I taught surgical technology, as I used to scrub in the operating room.
If you are referring to "furthermore" and "atrocities" then the answer is yes. I kept all my students in check.
What's your problem with the use of "furthermore" and "atrocities" in my posts? Are they too big for your vocabulary?
Yawn... Lol. So, what hospital/doctor do you work for again? On what side of the country? You must have A LOT of work to do, you seem so interested in this knowledge exchange forum.
"Referring." "Actually." "Apprarently" is another one. I could go on... Yeah, and sure, they're all too big for my vocab, absolutely. lol
I was thinking, Lita, as to what "HT" would think of a dyslexic. I'm perfectly horrified at her awful way with words as it is. Most dyslexic people I know don't advertise the fact that they have 'word trouble'. I shudder at the thought of the mauling they'd suffer, not to mention the knock to their confidence
Good point, FD - knocking a dyslexic's confidence like that can set them back years.
The same goes for ESL students. As you know only too well, when you are trying to master a second language, the last thing that you need is condescending criticism.
aaarrrgh - shake a leg ye motley crew o'sluggards or ye'll be tastin' the lash.
Your students loved you? I find that very hard to believe, given your comments and attitude on this thread. It's clear you are fighting a losing battle - read everyone's comments towards you.
Admit you were wrong and apologise to World of the Wise for your rude response or drop him an email.
Ps. You had 12 fans yesterday morning, I see the number is beginning to drop. I wonder why?
Enjoy the weekend and if you do go shopping, resist the urge to correct any Customer Service Assistants' Spoken English, when they attend to you.
Did someone say cake?
3 weeks is ridiculous, Lita. It always seems to be the items I most look forward to are the ones that take the longest. Hang in there... Must be a nice camera! Are you into photography?
Yes! And I came into a little money so I bought a new camera. Been waiting and waiting.
It is actually UPS that screwed up, but since they returned it to the store, I called them.
And those Russian layered cakes are something else, it is true!
Very frustrating, I feel for you. Hopefully the store will cooperate and expedite the shipping. I love photography, tinker around with it. Took a class to advance my knowledge and discovered how much there is to learn. Love black and white, in particular.
I all about cake, Lita. Tonight was ice cream night here since 2 out of 3 of my kiddies have hideous sore throats. I expect to have a very "awake" night.
I expect it to be a short, short night. I have to work very early...but at least I'll get to take photos of the event.
Yeah, I like bl & wh, too, especially.
Have a great day tomorrow. Sorry you have to work on a Saturday. I'll be up for an early soccer game. HP has been screwing with my sleep schedule. Alas, I will shut off the computer at a reasonable hour. Especially since I've vowed to stay out of the more "controversial" forums.
Sigh. I know from a good source (who will remain anonymous), that some hubbers on Hubpages pay others to write articles for them. Some very well known hubbers employ this tactic, too, .
So, moot point.
And nowhere does it say within the rules that duplicate content is not allowed.
However, I'm almost sure that mostly everyone knows that here, too, .
do they make good money doing it?
i might be interested in writing some hubs for people if that is the case.
Depends on the Hubber, I think.
Clue* One is posting on this thread, !
But I think if you e-mail Sufi (he's not the one I'm talking about...he's more the writer) he can clue you in.
far out! going to bed now.
yar and whatnot :}

I must have missed an announcement, but I have noticed a section down the right side of my hubs (as well as other hubs) and along the bottom called "related ads". I haven't clicked on them as that is a no-no, but am curious what they bring up. There also seem to be a lot more...

I'm sorry if this post offends anybody, but I am really getting tired of people who basically are non English speakers showing up, throwing a hub together without expending any effort to read the forums or the learning center to find out what they should be doing, and then asking for help to...

How do you use the hubpages rss feeds? and how does it help?
by RanaKm 4 years ago
So, I've had a hub unpublished due to HP claiming that it's overly promotional. The hub only has 2 outbound links ( which is the number of links we're allowed to put for the other external sites ) this is the only thing that I'm having in my hub. There is also NO amazon products or Ebay or...
