Because they are usually involved with someone and comfortable.
They do not get out of the house anymore.
so they sit on the couch and drink beer and eat chips with their no account moronic friends.

I like to play sports not watch them! I'd rather be out playing tennis or golf, or basketball or baseball or football, soccer or hockey than watching it! It's more enjoyable to be out on the kayak or strolling the beacehs fishing rod in hand than watching some scmuck doing it on TV!

Wish I could provide an answer but I'm probably one of the lucky ones. My husband is totally NOT interested in sports at all, and zips right by any game on tv.

However, he does watch the news multiple times a day - 5pm, 6pm, 10pm and 11pm. I'd actually prefer he watch sports instead :-)

I am married to someone that hates sports.  Makes it a little hard for me to catch the games sometimes...especially when I want to go to our son's football games and he throws a fit about it.  So I guess I don't have the men and sports problems.  I am the problem in my house.  LOL

I'm afraid that is a bad man card shopping example, because all steak is not created steak equal.  I definitely hate shopping, but picking out a good cut of meat is very important.  Oh, seasoning the meat is too.

    WELL:

Men can watch sports for hours bc they like it, im sure men can ask the same question to women, how can they watch reruns of Americas top model for hours… well plain and simple, because you like it.

See… most boys grow up enjoying the game of football like their dads before them have. Football is male bonding topic. It’s a very physically aggressive sport most men are proud to watch or play. Most women cant understand because their raised by their mothers way of… girly things. I wish I can have more examples but I was raised more by my father then my mother. And because I was raised more by my father I learned to adore boyish things like: football, cars, video games, wrestling, etc.

When it comes to football, I love it. my dad, my bf, my sis, and I sit down eating pizza watching the game. It’s a great bonding experience for everyone. But thankfully for my boyfriend (surprisingly im the one who had to get him into football) I keep up with my team DA BEARS, and not watch any other football games, (well I try to ).  But times a changing bc every time I watch a game I see more and more women getting into football, its great.

I guess you could blame me for my guys, and my girls as well, I make the homemade salsa and cook the grilling barbeque stuff, finger foods and sandwiches, "dynamites" and chill the beer, cinnamon hot chocolate....all they have to do is bring in their snuggle blankets and pillows and dad on his three person recliner...nobody moves until halftime to hit the "head" as they say, then it's two + more hours of hollering and huggin' each other...depending on who's playing...

I say...It's all my fault, but I'm proud of it!

Men watch a lot of sports because their need for sports, or in particular, combat, has been genetically encoded.

Just like a females need to buy lots of shoes has been genetically encoded.  smile

Sports act as a displacement for combat, either one-on-one (like boxing, martial arts etc) or team combat (football, rugby, hockey etc)

    1. myownworld profile image70

I agree...it's genetic...I actually think it's a great outlet for them: both watching and playing. plus, it kind of takes their mind off sex for a while too...which gives me a break too! wink

In my household, I'm actually the bigger sports fan, which actually doesn't say much. However, there are only three sporting events we go out of our way to watch: our local baseball team's home games, the kids' soccer games, and our state's big college rivalry football game. I also enjoy watching sports deemed "less popular" like boxing, hockey, MMA, and fencing. I've pretty much given up on Olympic coverage, as our networks' slavish devotion to gymnastics and track meant historic events like a medal sweep for the US in women's saber went almost completely unreported.

All that being said, watching the games is nowhere near as exciting as actually participating.

They don't need help....they purposely go out of their way to make sure that they screw up whatever it is that you wanted them to do....so they can go do something they want to, because they know, if you get angry enough...you'll banish them from the activity and do yourself(because the only saying always remains true- if you want something done, you have to do it yourself).

Either way....the men get to do what they want, while the women are stuck doing everything themselves.lol
