You're my hero, Nelle!  Congratulations - I hope someday I'll be at that level, but for now I'd even take a couple hundred a month!

Hi Again, Thanks for all the congrats and well wishes. Had a great lunch, went shopping with friends, and as part of my celebration I bought a nook - the Barnes & Noble e-reader.

Great achievement just within one year Nelle, actual hardwork does pay even though it is difficult to keep doing samething everyday when you get started without seeing any tangible result. Congrat

Your post gives me goosebumps, Nelle! That is so incredible! I'm so tickled for you.  You deserve every bit of it.  You are an inspiration to us all.

PS.  I completed the 30 hubs tonight for the Nov Hub Challenge.

Thank you KCC I just saw your post about your successful hubchallenge, that was a tour de force, I fell a few short but was still pleased to get close. I started so many other websites, that I got a bit scattered. Have to get better organized for December.

You are my new inspiration, Nelle, if I ever decide to get serious here (I work full time, too). smile

May I ask what your click through rate is for Adsense?  I mean, what should one aim for?  And just plainly, so I get it--backlinks are essentially 'marketing' your articles elsewhere so that they are ranked well by Google and people also follow those links?  Yeah?

        1. profile image0
Nelle Hoxieposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Lita backlinks are just links from my blogs to my hubs, that google sees and gives importance to in it's Search Engine Results Page. It's for google and other search engines - not people. Although if done right, I guess they serve both purposes.

With Google adsense I shoot for money targets, I couldn't tell you my click through rate.

smile Thank you.  I actually started my job in marketing the same time I started Hubpages, so, lol, I'm crossing my domains!  And since I kinda use the writing on here as a bit of stress relief and write, oh, poetry, its been a bit of a learning curve.

I'm glad to hear if someone really works at it, $$ can be had!

This is a great day for me too Nelle because i'm so happy for you. You really deserve this. But its so good for me too because this is a great inspiration for me. I know its real to make money online here at HP (and i've tried to pull my weight as much as i can), but i never knew one could hit the 4 figure within a year as you have done.
I know there are others as well who hit it effortlessly, but i follow you closely here on HP and i'm glad i do.
Great work Nelle and this is to the 5 figures soon in 2010.
    GodBless. smile

Thank you all again. Just remember that I had all the same tools that everyone has. It isn't magic, just keep doing hubs until you find your sales voice. Everyone has one, and everyone's is a little different. But all the pieces are there, it's just a matter of putting them together your way.

    1. Neil Ashworth profile image43
Neil Ashworthposted 15 years agoin reply to this

That would be the "Marketing Muse" nelle - a sales writers voice I guess? Well done with this achievement - I was looking at your hubs and have to say I'm impressed by how you've structured them as well as the content - do you use a set hub style?

      1. profile image0
Nelle Hoxieposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I sort of have a basic one. But I'm playing with the general format a bit. You might notice sometimes there's a lead-in paragraph with adsense only; sometimes there's a lead-in paragraph with ebay and adsense; sometimes there's a lead-in paragraph with both ebay, amazon and adsense. And sometimes there is no lead-in paragraph. Sometimes in place of the lead-in paragraph I've put two columns of products - (very controversial with some hubbers). Sometimes there is nothing leading in. The hubs vary in length from 350 to 1600 words.

And there is a lot more varients. Sometimes I'll put a double column of products in the center a couple of times.

I've written 250 Amazon hubs and about 100 Ebay hubs (They aren't all written under Nelle) in the past 9 months trying to find the best way to monetize two very difficult affiliate programs. And I'm not really satisfied yet.

I do have a lot of affiliate marketing experience, and that has helped me, because once I saw the Google traffic Hubpages gets, I knew there was potential

Hi Nellie, Can you say how long it took you to get up to 1000 visitors per 7 days from Google ?

And very well done with the sales

    1. profile image0
Nelle Hoxieposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I don't know about 1,000 google visitors per 7 days. I don't really keep track of stuff like that. I just know how much traffic I want, and I keep pushing and writing stuff until I reach it. I try not to fixate on anything really but money in the bank - so I don't get sidetracked with data paralysis. Which I could very easily.

Nelle, congratulations.  It's not even a little bragging.  It's nice to let people know they can earn if they do what it takes to earn.  smile  A lot of people don't believe that earning much is possible here.  I know of a few people for whom $1000 a month is the goal.  I'm one of them, but I have some more work to do.  smile

    1. profile image0
Nelle Hoxieposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Thank you Lisa, I was afraid that it would be seen as bragging, and that really wasn't my intent. But I have found that I always enjoy the success topics so much myself, that I thought I would start one.

  32. profile image0
    assemberposted 15 years ago

You're right , I have to fight that data fixation thing

I must say your pages are very solid content wise, do you prefer to complete or at least really fill a page with content before moving on?

Well, I think its great and it certainly makes me want to get back to work after the Holidays.  Of course, I had an all time high of $250 myself.  If I hadn't earned anything, I'd probably be nothing but sour grapes.

    1. profile image0
Nelle Hoxieposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Why are you waiting until after the holidays? This is the time to write for Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, the Olympics, winter sports, March Madness and I'm already starting on Mother's Day. Don't forget graduation, Father's Day and all those year round ideas as well.

Congrats - good for you.  Interesting that you didn't do keyword research for your big hits.  I find that some of the stuff I write from the heart/instinct or whatever, does as well as some that I've spent ages doing keyword reseach on.  i think a mix of both is good, though I do target alot of stuf towards keywords and adsense.

Let us know when you jump to $10,000!
