Just thought I would raise this one again.
I have been here six weeks and have received the weekly newsletter once - in my first week.
Is anyone doing anything to find out why so few people get the newsletter?
And if we aren't going to get the newsletter reliably, could we have the "thumbs up" stats available somewhere else, please?
Jenny
Jenny,
Be sure to safelist HubPages, so you get all of our mailings:
http://hubpages.com/help/safelisting-hubpages
The newsletter comes out every Wednesday (or Thursday, occasionally, when Topica is especially incompetent).
We crossed on posting - I have now added the relevant email address - see if that helps - though the newsletter is not in my (gmail) spam so I still suspect Im not getting it
I don't have a problem with the HubPages emails being marked as spam. Most HubPages emails arrive just fine - comment notifications, fanmail notifications, etc. Not a problem.
And, as I said, one newsletter has come through perfectly fine.
If the email reaches Bluehost (my hosting provider), I will receive it.
The newsletter emails are not arriving at my domain at all. The others are.
I was getting the newsletter reliably but I dont think Ive had it for a few weeks now - what day does it come out and is it weekly?
Lissie, it's supposed to come on Wednesdays.
I don't even get these. I used to but not anymore. I haven't changed anything in my account in regards to email, either. Nothing is marked spam and everything is approved in my email. If I do get a new comment email, it's usually a day late after the fact.
For a while the past few months, I was getting the newsletters, but I haven't gotten one in 2 weeks.
The only thing I can think of is making sure "Allow HubPages to contact you?" is checked here:
http://hubpages.com/my/profile
It could be due to Topica, our email delivery service, which has been all-around lousy. You are certainly not the first to notice not getting the newsletter.
Note that the newsletter is sent via Topica, and all the other emails (comments to your Hub, Requests, etc) are sent via our own email server, so that probably accounts for why you're missing only the newsletter, Jenny.
We are moving off Topica in March (or maybe April) so hopefully that will ensure that you get the newsletter. The new service will also allow us to embed more interesting, useful data in your stats snapshot.
- Jason
Yea I'm in the same boat as jenny. I get everything but the newsletter... I guess aol doesn't work with topica?
I've only received 2 weekly newsletters - I have no problem receiving any other mail from HubPages. Just the newsletter.
Do you publish the newsletter on this site anywhere, so if we don't get it in the mail (for whatever reason) we can still read it? It obviously wouldn't have the individual stats, but just the interview and overall Hub stats...
I have all the checks in place and receive the newsletter once in a blue moon. The last one got through, though...
Unfortunately, I don't have the time anymore to post all the newsletters online. However, I would make sure you've safelisted editor@hubpages.com by following the procedure here:
http://hubpages.com/help/safelisting-hubpages
AOL - I don't have the service so don't know how safelisting is done with them. You could try this:
1. Open your AOL mailbox.
2. Click Mail.
3. Click Settings.
4. Click Spam Controls.
5. Click the medium check box.
6. Click the Control From Whom I Get Email button below Additional Spam Filters.
7. Select Allow mail only from senders on my Custom Sender List.
8. Click the blue Custom Sender List link and then type the following email address:
editor@hubpages.com
Click the Add button and then click the Save button.
9. Click the Save button again after you are directed out of the Custom Sender List window.
10. Click the Save button for the last time when you are directed to the Spam Controls window.
We will be moving from Topica to a new provider within a month. That should hopefully improve deliverability (but please safelist editor@hubpages.com just in case)
While I never saw anything from hubpages in my spam folder on aol (and I've checked several weeks before) I have gone ahead and safelisted editor@hubpages.com just in case. I'm glad to hear that the switch to a new email service is coming soon! Thank you.
I get all the e-mails for new hubs published and for comments...those come through just fine, but I do have to check my spam filter for the newsletter. For some reason, that's where that always goes. That's the ONLY thing from HP that goes there, but it ALWAYS goes there. Even though, every week I mark it as 'not spam'.
I dunno. It's weird, but at least I get it.
I only received one newsletter a long time ago. But I just followed Jason's advice and safelisted hubpages on my Yahoo account. I used to get the new hub announcements of fans in my email, but now they arrive as spam. I keep marking them as not spam, but so far it apparently hasn't helped.
Me, too, Darkside. And I don't have spam auto deleted. I have a folder and check anything in it before I delete it. I made sure that the checkmarks were in my profile but never have gotten a newsletter. I would love to be able to see the thumbs up status on mu hubs as well Hope the change fixes the delivery problem!
Bonnie
I hope I don't jinx myself, but I get the newsletter fine using gmail. Not that I'm promoting gmail, but it is great. Just FYI.
Hmmmm. Maybe I'll just change my email to my gmail account and see if I get them there. Maybe it's a Yahoo thing!
Woohoooo! I changed to my gmail and got it! My very first issue and I am in it! LOL. Figures it would be for the most comments. But that's ok! Commenting brings comments, huh?
I'm still not getting it - Im on gmail I got it for ages but not for the last month or so - its not in spam I added the sender into my contact book so I do think the problem is at the sending end
Lissie,
We terminated with Topica and are moving to Jangomail, which we hope will improve delivery, in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, please make sure you have safelisted HubPages:
http://hubpages.com/help/safelisting-hubpages
If you have any quotations, commas or exclamations in your email address, that can cause a problem.
I did that Jason - and just double checked definitly have editor@hubpages.com as a contact
I've been a member for about 2 1/2 weeks and have gotten 2 newsletters at my Yahoo addy, no probs.

One thing I wish HubPages would consider is finding a way to allow readers to sign up to get notifications when a writer publishes a new article without having to become writers themselves. In others words, people can join HubPages just to follow a writer or topic they like, but they are told they...

So I heard recently that there is a hubpages newsletter and I was wondering how to sign up for it? Does anybody know?

Seems like the coding is going wrong in the automatic email notifications because the links aren't hyperlinked anymore.I use hotmail, but perhaps that's not the issue.

I was told that successfully competing in a HubNuggets meant that your hub was then promoted in the next HP News Letter. So when does that happen and how does one obtain a copy of HP News Letters?
