Crazy excited.  I am attending an all day conference tomorrow for work, so it is a silly way to spend a Saturday...but it is out of the office at least!

But, like you said it's going to be spring soon enough!  I've already started wearing the sandals hoping that it will bring spring faster...

funride, do you have snow in Portugal right now? (Is it still on the ground?)

    1. funride profile image67
funrideposted 16 years agoin reply to this

To find snow in Portugal we must go to the top of our highest mountain and even over there it´s not covered with snow the entire winter.

In case you don´t know I live in the best place in the world http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_68.gif.

Ask to the thousands of English people who spend all winter in Portugal wink.

Dummy me! I checked on a map, I should remembered how close Portugal is to Africa, for Pete's sake, and you have similar weather to Southern Italy - of course there is no snow!!!

I went to Spain, and other countries in Europe, but never made it to Portugal. I bet it is beautiful!

I am so happy it is a holiday weekend and that I will get to see children and grandchildren:-)

Bunny report will be that Sunday will be spectacular for egg hunting and Easter Services!

The horizon is awesome for the weekend.  I hope everyone is able to get out, see people they love, enjoy the beauty of the earth...  and have a wonderful weekend!

Surely Good Friday is a public holiday in the US?

    Paid for full-time employees?

It is supposedly a Christian country, after all ...?

RFoxposted 16 years agoin reply to this

Yes, but like Canada it is also a Capitalist country. Sometimes they pay you, sometimes they don't. They also have strict requirements for who qualifies to receive public holiday pay. It really is determined by who you work for.

  28. Inspirepub profile image71

I don't really differentiate between work and play, since I only do work I love to do.

But many of the people I love are more available on weekends and public holidays, so I tend to work a bit less on those days and socialise a bit more.

Unless there's a seminar that weekend, of course - then I do really long days and I love it!

If only we could get everyone out of having to work or go to school Monday to Friday. Life would be so much better.

I get most of the federal holidays off and paid because I work for the state.  This means Christmas, New Years, Martin Luther King Jr Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, etc. (not exactly in that order).  But, as a state worker, I don't get all of them off.  We do get other extra days that Federal workers don't get, like Christmas Eve and the day after Thanksgiving.
I've worked at some jobs where there were less days off.  Right now, we don't get another holiday until the end of May.

In the UK we get both Good Friday and Easter Monday as a public holiday which is nice.  As to weather we had snow yesterday - unusual at Easter.

Hope you all have a great Easter weekend, whether you are working or not and whether you are basking in the sunshine like Funride or Writeon or wrapped up warm like Rfox  smile

    LOL!!

My plans are great, tomorrow I´m going to work. I´ll have to drive 250km to get there. The good thing about it is that I´m going with my partner and my daughter and we will stay in a hotel on the top of "Serra da Estrela" (Star Mountain) the biggest one in continental Portugal.

It´s also great because I was not able to work for too much time and now I feel like I´m profitable again big_smile.

    Great weekend to all! smile
