Congratulations to all of the winners! We are so fortunate to have such excellent writers on this platform! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to writing.
Thanks, Brenda, for all your prompts and helpful comments/inputs at the forums. I look forward to these meaningful interactions. You deserve the best poet tag. Congrats.
Congrats Brenda on Best Poet. You could have taken the Helpful and supportive category, as well. John could have taken both as well. But then, I am partial to you and John. I am sure that all of the winners, represent well. Congratulations to all!!
This made me smile John. It has been a long association and I cherish that. Happy to know you— Great poet, writer and a great friend! Best wishes, Always!
CONGRATULATIONS to all the award winners. I intend to visit those I don't know, 'cause you're all worth knowing! Much success to you, and all the rest of us, going forward.
John, don't you notice a spammer entered here, and he's being reported to hubpages? Critically, and seriously, his comment is spam. Seems HubPages done with him...deleting his and the reports. Much thanks, John.
Mine could be sitting out in my post box. I haven't looked in it for a week. I need a flag like on those American ones. How do they work? Are they like a mouse trap with a flag that that springs up when the door is opened, or does the mailman set them?
No. It's for outgoing mail only. You manually raise the flag to indicate to the mail deliverer that there's mail in the box for collection. He or she then drops the flag after collection.
There's generally no way of knowing if a delivery's been made without going out and checking in the US.
The plus of the UK (and Ireland I presumed?) is that they normally deliver mail straight to your door. That's better than having it sit in a mail box.
I'm surprised that you have a post box? Is that because you're in a rural area or something?
Yes, mail is delivered through the letterboxes in our doors. However several years ago, to save time, houses with very long driveways had to get postboxes and locate them near their gate entrances. I'm not sure what the criteria was for distance from the entrance and whether some sort of survey was done and each person got a notification that they had to do this (Now I'm curious and want to know, so I'm going to quiz the postal service). I just installed a box specifically for parcels (made from the sheet metal case of a cooker and washing machine. The lid is a baking tray from the oven), just inside my wall. It means the postman and couriers have somewhere to leave items if they don't get an answer when they ring the doorbell. I'm going to make up a flag that'll flip up when the lid is opened.
