    Hi Fellow Writers!
I hope you all are doing well.
Just wanted to share something about my previously published articles.
Recently, I had submitted two of my articles, for consideration for niche sites (published in 2014).
They were both accepted on Letterpile, but I noticed that all the comments were gone. I was disappointed and enquired about this by writing to the team HubPages.
They said, that, ‘ - - old comments from earlier articles are currently not being imported to network sites.’
This is disappointing for me, as I lost all the valuable comments/ feedback from fellow writers, who are no longer active on this site.
    Just FYI
Good day and a happy week ahead to all.

Chitrangada, that is so sad. Some of those old comments provide great memories, some from hubbers and friends no longer around. It makes one think twice about submitting older articles to niche sites.
      Thanks for sharing this.

        Hello John,
Yes, you are right. Old comments provide great memories of the writers, who are no longer writing here. Their feedback and encouraging words helped me to hone my writing skills, through the eleven years, that I have been here.
Thank you for understanding. Good day to you.

I fully understand that it's disappointing to see the comments disappear, but at the same time, those articles will most likely perform better on niche sites.

        Hello Jan,
Thank you for responding to my forum post.
        I agree with your views.
Those articles were doing good otherwise, although they were old ones. But, we all know that, now it’s better to shift articles to niche sites, and that’s why I had to do it.
Thank you and good wishes to you.

Sorry to hear that, Chitra. It has been a valuable treasure to us. I have to check whether I also lost those comments when I submitted 2 articles some months back.

Thank you Venkatachari ji, for responding to my post.
Yes, this seems to be the new rule and I will have to think twice, before submitting my old articles.
Hope you are doing well. Regards and thank you.

Not only are the old comments of sentimental value, some of them provide valuable insight into the topic of the article. Some have questions and responses that clarify important information.

        Hello Sherry,
Exactly my point— Comments provided additional information and valuable insights on the subject of the article. Sometimes, we used to add more points, based on the suggestions by the fellow writers/ readers. That important aspect is missing these days on HubPages.
        Thank you for your understanding.
        Best wishes to you.

I miss those good old days. The comments that readers shared were inspirational and they are what carried me through my early years of writing. I know things change and I'm going along with the flow. There are good reasons for what HubPages does. Still, it does not take away the sting of losing treasured memories.

        Well said, Marlene.
Changes do happen, but losing treasured memories is a big disappointment. But, what can we do, other than accept the changes!
Like you, I also miss those good old days.
Thank you for understanding. My best wishes to you.

I know that is disappointing Chitrangada. I haven't checked mine in a long time to see how many I've lost. When I first started on HP, I got so discouraged that I almost gave up. Then after a couple of good responses and new friendships, things perked up for me. I started feeling part of the community. I know that this happened to a lot of writers on HP, and we became a community. These people should know how important this is to us. It is the impersonal treatment that we are being given today that has caused a lot of writers to leave. We are no longer a writer's community, but just numbers in their word games.

        Hello Doris,
Thank you for responding to my post and agreeing with my sentiments.
I had the same experience as you, when I joined here. It took me sometime to get into the flow, and this had happened due to the constant motivation and encouragement by the fellow writers.
Your last two lines sums it up.
Wish you all the best, and thank you for your understanding.

Morning Chitrangada. I think I've noticed for some time that old comments are gone on some articles but still attached to others. It is sad to lose valuable and sentimental comments attached to friends. It's just another sign of the site no longer prioritizing community and the attachments we've made over the years. Losing those comments is a form of loss.

      Hello Janis,
You also being so long at this site, you will definitely understand my disappointment.
HubPages is what it is, because of the contributions of so many wonderful writers, over the years.
      Sad indeed- - -.
Have a good day and stay happy.

    I hate to hear this!

Surely, there is a way that Hubpages could leave these comments & fix it for the author's view only.

There's always a way....if they will do it.

We can't get these back.  I've been updating a few lately...I wonder if they omit comments from there too.

      Hello Brenda,
You are right— They can leave it for the author’ s view. What’s the harm in that?
I hope they don’t do it for the edited or updated ones too.
Thank you for your response. Take care.

It's good that your articles got approved for the nische sites Chitrangada. That's quite an achivement. Sorry to know about the comments though. . Comments are important as they give us valuable input about the article and encourage and motivate us. Hope they rectify that soon.

      Hello Vidya ji,
Yes, it helps to have the articles on the niche sites. But, losing comments and feedback, because of that, is not good at all.
I have been here since the last eleven years, and seen the site grow, due to it’s writers community and their healthy interactions. That should have been taken care of.
Anyway, thank you for your response. Good day to you.

Are no comments allowed on niche sites? Because I do not find any comments there while reading some articles.

    1. ChitrangadaSharan profile image92
ChitrangadaSharanposted 8 months agoin reply to this

You can comment on some of the niche sites, but not all of them. But, it’s slightly complicated.
On top of the article, you have the ‘comment’ option. In some niche sites, it is at the bottom, and they call it, ‘discussion’.
You have to login through email, then you will be sent a code, then you can comment. But, the authors don’t get any notifications for that, so they don’t know that someone has commented on their work.

Which articles were they? Have you looked to see whether the articles were archived on the Wayback Machine? This is your profile from February and I can access articles on Discover that were save and that have comments. If a page wasn't archived, you can try looking back at snapshots of the site through previous months and years.

Chitra - This is just the last straw, isn't it? I don't have many articles that I would try to move to a niche, but now I know, I will never attempt to do so. I value the comments I received on my articles--often they added to and improved what I had written. Some are from friends who have passed away. They are treasures.

      Hi Linda,
I agree with your sentiments. I had some very old articles, which I tried to move to the niche sites, and the experience was not pleasant.
The comments from friends are valuable and dear to me, and I can’t afford to lose them. Yes, some of them have passed away too.
Life goes on but precious memories remain.
Thank you for responding to my post. My best wishes to you.
