    I found this tidbit...

"This question I frequently come across as a statements from believers that non believers believe in non existence of god just like believers believe in it. Then what is belief and non belief? Is it one and the same?"

I believe that I can't believe this person has an author score already of 65. smile

Faith and belief aren't the same,

Faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something with no doubt.

Belief is when a person accepts that something is true or that something exists. The person believing something exists, may or may not have faith in or trust it.

No....there is a slight differentiation between "belief" & 'non-belief". Belief mains faith & that comes from heart. But "non-belief" denies the existence of anything & sometimes "non-belief"  is often termed as "rational thinking".

Julie, I should have been more clear.  Those excerpts are from hubs that were found that are purely written in German.  It was to support the OP that was showing the horrid hubs being published.

Each of my excerpts were from existing hubs that remain published.

Its a fun hub hopping variation actually.  Pick a common word in a foreign language and search for it in the Hubpages search box.

    http://hubpages.com/search/include:hubs+schnell?page=2

Schnell means "fast" in german (I think)

Interesting that hubs get taken down for RSS feed issues, nonsensical tags and violations of the 50/1 rule, but these have not been tackled...

What story does that tell the hubbers who followed the rules?

    A bit disgruntled tonight...

This stuff just ticks me off.

Here we are spending inordinate amount of time vetting our own hubs because of takedowns due to a violation of the new 50/1 rule.  People are having hubs unpublished because of RSS feeds and tags that were fully supported to allow us to create custom RSS feeds.

It really tells a story on where the priorities lay.

If they can create a filter that flags my hub for having 395 words and 8 ads, they can surely create a filter that creates a list of hubs with a US misspelling ratio over XX % - pick 50% even.  I don't see that these foreign language hubs would make it through.  Just to be safe, have the system automatically send it to a moderator just to be sure...

But no...these beauties continue to remain on the site. Somehow the "please continue to flag" statements don't mean as much anymore.

I don't understand why these can't be stopped at the time of publication.  Invariably, these are published by one-hit-wonders (accounts with one hub published within minutes of the account being set up).

A simple spelling checker would show more than a few errors.  I hope someone at HP is working on methods to find and stop spinners from working.  Stopping the inflow of this bile will certainly help...

A furtherproductsthat could besuggestedalternativelywith the citric acid or vinegar is baking soda. About four tablespoons mixed with 8 cups of h2o is utilised. Run it through thevery same as previously mentioned and see if it performs.

We laugh at these but there is an underlying serious issue.

Instead of focusing on good hubbers using odd tags, RSS feeds for most recent hubs and minor violations of the 50/1 rule, I would hope that something comes out quickly to stop the influx of spam and spun articles. Having hubbers flag them is fine, but we'll never get ahead until HP puts a stop to these. In my mind, those are the gross violators, not folks who use a unique tag or used the provided-for tool to show their most recent articles.

I like the interviews, they stick in my mind more not because of the your a hick idea but the heartfelt hurt. One of the most poignant memories of watching the devastation in hurricane Katrina was that poor man who lost his wife saying "She's gone, just gone". Now watching the devastation across the south from the recent storms it leaves me in tears of heartfelt hurt to see these interviews. I can't say I would feel the same seeing Trump being interviewed after such an event. Sorry I know you meant it as a funny but I just watched the CMT relief effort concert and it was just heart rendering to see the footage again.

It would be nice if someone from HP created a thread discussing what is being done to stop the influx of autoposted and spun content as well as cleaning up old stuff. Right now, I think it feels like it is completely reactionary. Eg HP will take action on a hub once it is flagged. But what proactive work is being done?  Lots of ideas have been offered.

        1. profile image0
Norah Caseyposted 13 years agoin reply to this

I would love to put together a forum thread on this topic. Right now we don't have the time to give it the attention it requires. I hope to have time next week to create a forum thread on this topic.

The SMS tool will take care of a large portion of this garbage by preventing these spammers from creating an account in the first place. Before the Panda update, we were working on putting together a "spun content" filter. Basically, it would scan Hub content looking for keywords that are only used by article spinners. Post-Panda, we simply haven't had the time to solve this complex problem. It is easy for a human to know that a hub is garbage, but it hard to build automated tools that can accurately and consistently identify terrible writing. We were getting a large number of false positives with creative content, each of which had to be reviewed and cleared. For now, that project is on the back burner.

For the next few days, we will be preparing for the upcoming enforcement of policy changes discussed in this blog post.
