   Yay! And now for today's winners!
   
   TheEllios won today's Daily Drawing for a lovely Hub on Sailor Moon and the power of friendship, and akirchner won the Week 1 Tug of War round with a hefty 118 votes!  Way to go, akirchner!  You're quite the social networker!
   
   There have been some dreadfully amazing entries this week- Robin and I are really going to have a rough time of picking the Week 2 finalists to go on to the Fan Faves round.  But select Fan Faves we shall, and you'll hear about them tomorrow!

On a neat note, a local ranger saw my hub and requested that I come and give a presentation to campers in the area to inform them about these beautiful birds and show my pictures.  What an honor!  Thanks ya'll for making it happen!

    Quick update to those following this thread but not the whole forum- yesterday afternoon Robin posted the Fan Faves finalists in another stuper sticky and closed thread, so check them out.
    
    To vote for your favorite Hub, visit our our Facebook page and click on the Fan Faves tab on the left side of the page. Congrats to the Fan Faves nominees, and good luck to all of them!
    
    As a reminder, the top two Hubs (vote-wise) will move on to the Tug of War round, and any Hubs with more than 25 votes will win $25!

    Simone -I must be brain dead from the anesthesia but when I go to HP's link on Facebook and click on Fan Faves, I keep getting your banners - I never can get to the links for the contest there?  What am I doing incorrectly?

       Akirchner I think like me, you also are clicking the image.  But we don't have to click the image, we have to click the fan fave tab which is below the info tab I guess.
       
       Me tried clicking on that image twice and only got banners, but then I noticed that the finger points downward and thats where I found the fan fave tab.

    I will cry into my Cornflakes on Monday because I was too late to generate interest for my hub to vote as it was one of the 14 for fave of the week!
    
    When I cry in my bowl of cornflakes at least I can save a moderate amount of milk by watering it down with tears.....boo hoo sob sniff sniff!!!!!

    Oh no! Did I goof?        I think there was some confusion (I know I was confused the first week) - you go into the round of 14 and you get votes - if you got over 25 - you get $25.
       
       Then the top 2 people out of that round go into the head to head or the tug-of-war - and the winner of that wins $100 and $50 respectively - most and second most votes.
       
       It's there in the rules - you just have to think about it a bit (I did anyhow~) but you didn't mess up - you just didn't make it into the tug-of-war for the week.

       Hi jenwat0405!  Entries only end up on Facebook for voting rounds if they're selected as one of the top 14 Hubs of a week, so you'll find out on Tuesday (either in this thread or via email- we let folks know both ways) whether one of those entries made it. Then the voting begins!
       Even if you don't make it to Facebook voting rounds, you may still win a day's Daily Drawing prize- that prize winner is randomly selected from a day's entries. Hope that helps!

             -Whether the content is something friends and followers would be interested in reading (is exciting, strange, very useful, very funny, or has some other potential for going viral)
             -Long-tail, niche topic that has not been extensively covered online
             -Search-friendly title (mirrors common search terms)
             -Excellent writing (proper use of grammar, capitalization)
             -Unique (not copied or paraphrased from elsewhere online, full of details, examples, names, and figures)
             -Attractive formatting (avoidance of excessive link, eBay, or Amazon capsule clutter, excessive bolding or italics, and all-caps)
             -Judicious use of relevant capsules (original photos (especially your own), video, maps, tables, links, news, etc.)

       I want to thank all who read my hub and all who voted for anyone in the contest. All of the 14 entries that were chosen were very good. I want to congratulate every one of the 14, especially Maggs24. I'm not really sure which of us had the better hub. I'm not sure if the friends we asked to vote for us read both hubs before voting. My guess is they didn't, and only Hubbers might actually have read most of the 14 original fan faves before making their own selections. I do know that Maggs24's hub was just as worthy of winning as mine was and that my win was probably due to having more of my network of Facebook friends home to vote this weekend. It's interesting to me that the total votes cast in the tug of war were less than the total that Maggs 24 and I got in the fan faves vote, which indicates that fewer people bothered to vote in the tug of war. I thought that more Hubbers would vote when the field narrowed to just two of us, but it seems they didn't, and that surprised me. I hope more Hubbers will take an active part in both votes this week and next week. That said, I'm very happy to have won. Thank you, HubPages, for having these contests.

    Second, congrats to Dr. Griz for winning today's Daily Drawing prize for his tips on how to pay for your pet's healthcare! 
    
    Third, akirchner pointed out that we had made a mistake with the dates of the final voting round for the Grand Prize in all of our contest updates - we had said that the Grand Prize voting would take place from August 2nd to the 4th when it really will take place the following week, from the 9th to the 11th.  We've updated our contest page with the right dates, but I just want to point out the change in case you are a Tug of War winner and want to let folks know when they can vote for you.
