Sometimes I wish I was famous, but I like my alone time so much I don't think it would be worth it for me.

I'm not sure I want to be famous exactly, just a successful artist, so that I could comfortably support my family, I'd be happy with that.

Fame would be nice, but I'll settle for making a living at something I enjoy.  I played music professionally for 20 years....you wouldn't recognize my name and I had to win over my audience almost every night, but it was a heckuva lot better and more satisfying than working in a cubicle or telemarketing....

Being famous could make you rich or financially well off at least....Famous in your niche can bring you some good things!

That's more what I'm going for.  Don't need to be rich, just financially sound and doing what I love every day.

      That's the goal, anyway.

No. I have enough famous friends who would like to have their lives without the fame. I have no interest in it, either. But I think having professional recognition of doing well your craft is a good thing. It affords more opportunities. But fame in the public eye is not fun. It's terrifically annoying.

yeah ,  I agree ...look at the celebraties , they are so damned bored they keep marrying and remarrying and going through drug rehab after drug rehab , look at michael jackson , he had like .... a serious identity crisis going on ... not being famous has its probs too but all in all it is a much simpler life really.. at least if I get drunk it dosn't go on freaking tv lol smile

Nope.  To paraphrase Spinoza, fame has one great drawback.  If you want to be famous you have to live your life to please the fancy of other men always avoiding what they may dislike and making sure you do only what pleases them.  Not for me.

in the craft world, which i belong, their are famous names, like Joanna Sheene, Dawn Bibby etc etc, i doubt that they have a hard time.  It is mostly young to middle age, and i suppose even elderly ladies, tune into them for craft supplies ideas and support, now i doubt they get too much trouble when they are out and about leading their lives.  They certainly get richly rewarded for their art.  Maeve Binchy a very famous writer, can be seen around town in her native Dalkey village, here in Ireland, i would say she is very rich..

So yes i would like my name to be recognised, famous for my crafts, or writing..... however i doubt i would be mugged for my fame, if the ladies above are anything to do with it.

No, I just want to do good in the world and be able to stay at home with my family & travel instead of working a 9-to-5.  So I guess influential, yes.  Successful, yes.  Famous? No way.  At least not in an "entertainer" type way.  Or even worse famous for being dumb.

Becoming famous as a result of being talented, and having your talent recognized by the world, would definitely be cool. But getting famous from some idiotic reality TV show does not appearl to me at all...and that's the fastest way to do it nowadays.

Become Famous? Most definitely! Not like everyday celebrity but even if I was, I would definitely do things differently because for one I would be more open about my life, as you can not say you are a celebrity but want total privacy that is just ironic when you life is displayed for the entire world to see. A famous inventor, writer, poet, artist most definitely.

  37. profile image0
    buckjosephposted 13 years ago

I want to become famous!  I would love to have the power that the celebs have, especially when it comes to having their voices heard!  Controversy creates cash, and I have some very controversial views; whether people love me or hate me, I still win in the end.

    I guess I'm somewhat of a narcissistic megalomaniac!  >;-P
