Creative Writing on HubPages??

   I used to be a hubber and I posted how to's and informational hubs, but I got burnt out because it wasn't my niche. I have written one short story now, do you think creative writing is a good way to go on hubpages?

      I won a hubnugget award for one of mine.  Go for it.  Probably won't make you any money, though.

      Putting your creative writing on HubPages can get you noticed, and you can get feedback on your writing, but it doesn't earn much money.

   Is it possible to be creative AND do product / how to hubs?  Some TV adverts for example are very creative.

      This is a challenging idea.  T.V. is visual so probably easier but to try and put product into a piece of creative writing would be very challenging and very, very interesting indeed.  I'd be interested to see the outcome of a piece like that.

         Yes, me too.  I just think with a bit of lateral thinking I can merge what I do (nonsense sarcastic flaming mostly) with some product.  Throw in some keywords and simmer for a while.
         
         At least I hope it's possible.

   Sweet guys, thanks! I think I am going to do some of that. I'll focus on creative writing and hope that puts my name on the hubpages map and then I will mix in some money making articles. And I agree, the great challenge would be to incorporate products into my creative writing.

   "Creative writing" is a broad term.  You can write creative hubs about products or services you are familiar with.

   many a hubber has gained fame and respect with creative writing in HP but they earn almost nothing from their creative hubs. It's not a suitable niche for earning money.
   
   Keep writing. Creative writers are assets of HP.

   Creative commercial writing could get you some money I guess...
   
   I know it is truly satisfying to write Poetry or short stories.. but as our experienced hubbers say it would fetch us none..
   
   I would like to see how Stan Fletcher's idea of creative commercial writing would take off...
   Hope it get's the guys some money too.. check it out you may get some ideas..
   
   I would think variety would add spice to your earning potential.. I do a mix of everything in this hope.

      with a good length and well researched creative hub earning is possible but still the CTR will be far lower than other niches

      Thanks for the mention.  I guess all of this depends on what your writing goals are.  My intention from the beginning has been for Hubpages to be a creative outlet.  The near-instant feedback is awesome.  I didn't realize what a feeling of community Hubpages would bring when I started.  I've made a lot of great cyber-friends here.   My goal is to be a paid creative writer.  I'm working on a screenplay and hope to write comedy someday for television.  I would also like to publish some books.  A humor book for sure and possibly one on depression.  I hope my fan base will come through for me and buy a few copies when the time comes.  In the meantime, my hubs are bare bones.  I don't even add a photo anymore.  This is on purpose, and it keeps things fun for me, as there is no 'work' involved.  The words stand or fall on their own merit.  This doesn't mean I don't admire those good writers who have managed to find a way to make money here from product offerings.  That is a special skill in itself, and one that I probably don't have.  To each his own.  But for me, if it's not fun from beginning to end, I'm not interested....

         Wow ,  all fun and no work, I admire your guts  to have bare bone hubs and ...'words stand or fall on their own merit' statement....
         I really need to read up some...I did read some of the hubs of those who participated and thought that this would be an exciting new way to promote products creatively.. But I guess we need to wait and see
         
         I still think that was an awesome idea,  provided people chose their titles with some keyword research !

   All writing is creative writing. I believe it's just as difficult to write a great hub about "How To" or Product Reviews" as it is to write a great short story.
   I've had some success making money on my short stories with clicks and Amazon sales but not near as much with my hubs designed to help or sell.
   HubPages is a site with a vast number of unique outlets. I believe that is one of the reasons they are so successful.

   Just because creative writing doesn't bring in any money doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.  Sometimes it's just too boring writing informational and commercial hubs and you want to do something different and there's nothing wrong with that.  I think it'll just bring a different audience who will be curious to look at your hubs and then they'll click on something that'll make you money.
