paar, The Bible also says that if everything Jesus did were written down, the world could probably not contain all the books.

Judaism does use music as a part of worship - at least modern Judaism does.  I'll ask the scholars I know if that includes congregational singing and, if so, if it is a recent development.  At any rate, it could imply that Jesus at least sang in worship, even if that is not stated explicitly in Scripture.

But even so, how does that matter?  Jesus did not make any pilgrimages to Mecca either, as far as we know.  He did tell us to love God with all our heart and soul and mind and strength.  I think our voices - and even instruments - can fit within that framework.  smile  smile

Another great song to include in the list:  He Knows My Name.

What followers if they don't follow Jesus what he did and believed; the Christians follow the deviant Paul.

Moses did not follow Paul but sang a song after crossing the Red Sea.  King David did not follow Paul and wrote many songs as recorded in the Bible.  Solomon has a book called Song of Solomon in the Bible.

Now I can say this to you.  If you are unable to sing and make a joyful noise unto God, then maybe you are not following the right god.

I am fairly sure that Muslims also sing.

            We were talking about Jesus.

Moses also did not write any song; it is believed to be a later addition:

            Scholarly views

According to the modern documentary hypothesis the poem was an originally separate text, that was inserted by the deuteronomist into the second edition (of 2), of the text which became Deuteronomy (i.e. was an addition in 'Dtr2').
The poem, cast partly in the future tense, describes how Yahweh is provoked into punishing the Israelites due to their apostasy, resulting in the Israelites being destroyed. Dtr2 is believed to have been produced as a reaction to the Kingdom of Judah being sent into its Babylonian exile, and thus to Dtr1's (the hypothesised first edition of Deuteronomy) positive outlook, and suggestion of an upcoming golden age, being somewhat no longer appropriate. Consequently the poem fits the aim of Dtr2, in retroactively accounting for Israel's misfortune, and, indeed, may have been composed at a similar time.

paar, recently on Google-Plus, I saw someone who identified himself as being associated with something (a group? organization? movement?) called "I Love Allah Life Music."

I have been trying to find out more about it, because I was under the impression that music is not a part of worship in the Muslim faith.  Is that something that is perhaps changing nowadays?  Or have I been misinformed?  Do you know anything about the organization (if that's what it is) that can enlighten me?

Thanks for any information you can provide!

I don't know about the above group.

It is true  that Muslims don't play music in their prayers; it loses one' concentration from the Creator God.

Apart from the prayer; some Muslim saints did use music; to a limited extent.

Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and Mirza Ghulam Ahmad- the Promised Messian; did not find any need of music while worshipping and praying to the Creator God. I think Buddha and Zoroaster also did not use it in their prayers.

I don't see any song written by Jesus or sung by him with music:

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King: John 12-19

12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
           “Hosanna![d]”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[e]
“Blessed is the king of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:
        15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
           see, your king is coming,
           seated on a donkey’s colt.”[f]
16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.
17 Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. 18 Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. 19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

I quoted John which mentions Jesus entering Jerusalem; it does not mention of Jesus writing any song or singing it.

Moreover Jesus never wrote any Bible; Bible mention many incorrect things.

You obviously have no idea who Jesus is.  Why would you post on a thread when you do not know anything about the subject posted?

Moses sang a new song when Israel crossed the Red Sea, Miriam danced and played a tambourine.  David wrote many psalms or songs to the Lord.  David also danced before the Lord.  Solomon had an orchestra in the temple that he built.

          Do you want scriptures?

Gospel? I'm talking GOSPEL . . . not over produced, mamby-pamby, Christian pop top forty or dusty old hymns. No Starbucks or big screen TV's in this church. "It's Just Jesus", by the Caravans. You can't stay glued to the pew when they start pounding that beat! The scales will fall off. Stay for dinner on the grounds. The collards are cooked to perfection.

My favorite "traditional" song is "I Love to Tell the Story". It was written before the quantum theory came out, but it has a quantum verse, "We'll stand in scenes of Glory to sing the new, new song . . . it will be the old, old story that we have loved so long!" Now that's relativity.

    Cry out to Jesus

Three people around where I live passed away within the last week.  Each of them had lived a long full life.  I found out earlier this evening that a young man passed away last night.  I knew this man and he left two children and a wife behind.

I am requesting prayer for the survivors at this time also as I post a link to the song.

I wish you hadn't started this thread. Every time I see it a song gets stuck in my head. I guess it's a gospel song. I heard it on 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou'. The little girls in our family like it and sing it off and on because my husband plays the sound track in his truck when they ride with him. I think it's called Somewhere Working For My Lord. It's kind of a catchy tune.

Is it called In the Highways?
I looked that up, since I didn't watch all of Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

Funny, part of the refrain sounds exactly like an old Gospel song we used to sing in church at least 40 years ago.  I dunno which version was first, or if they're a mixture of each other, or what.  But instead of saying "I'll be somewhere working for my Lord" (like the Oh Brother one), the song went something like

If my robe is white when He calls me
If my robe is white I will hear

      I'll be somewhere listening
      I'll be somewhere listening
I'll be somewhere listening for my name

Yes it is a catchy tune.  Thanks for the reminder of the song!
