How do you shake yourself out of having a bad day?

What do you do? Do you relax? Do you try to forget about it and hope the next day gets better?  I had a horrible day today, with a bad final exam. I do not think I will pass it, and I need this class to graduate on Thursday. I am just not sure what to do.  Anyone have some inspirational ideas?

I'm sorry you're having a bad day sad
Sometimes for me, the best thing I can do is to give myself a "pep" talk. Tell myself  something like "well, I did my best. I can't change what has happened, but I know that I will pull through whatever challenge comes at me. I choose to be happy and positive."
I guess some days are different. I would suggest, try to not worry, treat yourself, do whatever you need to do to relax, and stay positive.

rlaha - I always look at the bottom line - what is the worst thing that could happen from this situation.  In your case, you fail the class and will have to take it over again.  Not a good scenario but not worth upsetting yourself for more than a day.  I know this involves money and time in this case but what else can you do?  Nothing.
Mostly, find something to be positive about.  If you fail the class, it's because you didn't get the information presented in the class.  If you take it again, you might get it and be able to use that good information!

Funny story, I just graduated in August.  Took me 4 1/2 years to get my B.A.  After getting straight As for all that time, my last class I thought I was going to fail but pulled through with a D.  Whew!!  I'm glad that's over but surely I would have been pissed if I failed.

I wish I could have a pet, but my husband is terrified of anything with 2 or 4 legs, so it has to be a fish.

I get stressed out with school work too!
What I like to do is find some episodes of my favourite shows (especially comedies! Those ones definitely make me feel brighter) and watch them while eating a favourite snack, and then I go to bed early. I also say a small prayer asking for help with whatever is stressing me out, and that the next day will be better, and it often turns out to be! smile

      Hi Cardia.
Thank you for your words of wisdom and inspiration.  I just have to hope and pray that I have done enough on the exam to be able to pass the class with a C grade.

So sorry your having a bad day, When I have a bad day I always find something to laugh about or look for something funny to read.
Laughter is the best medicine and sometimes when you have a good laugh it can calm you down and make you see things in a different light. smile

Thank you so much Calpol. I will try to make myself laugh today. I know I need it in spite of the fact I have to wait for my final grades and am dreading the results.

I cannot have an actual bad day, considering everything that happens is a bonus after me waking up. wink

Mighty Mom's top 10 ways to get past a really bad day:
#10. Talk it out/write it out/get it out so it's not inside anymore!
#9.  Find a distraction (as noted by calpol, laughter is great medicine)
#8.  Get out in nature. Hard to be sad with the wind in your hair surrounded by green (or if it's winter, white, or if you live by water, blue!)
    #7.  Eat chocolate.
#6.  Do something physical. Not destructively physical, but really, really intensely physical
#5.  Hug somebody (as noted above, furry critters are great. Babies also good. Husbands can be useful in this regard)
#4.  Write a hub about your experience (hey, at least you could makes some money off the deal, right?)
#3.  Rearrange or clean (or both). Create a new order in your home.
#2.  Get out of self -- be of service to someone who is having a worse day than you (and trust me, it is very, very easy to find someone who's having a REALLY bad day)
#1.  A phrase I used to hate but have come to understand and actually like: Know that "This, too, shall pass" (tomorrow is a totally different day!)

Good luck. Hope you passed your exam. But even if didn't, tit's not the end of the world and there's a lesson to be learned!

You are completely right.  There will always be someone that would love to be in your place.  It may seem bad at the time, but think about it as if it were a year from now.  Would this problem even matter?  Also, count your blessings.  It shows you how good things really are. Good Luck smile

I refuse to have them. lol

A walk does wonders, being in or near water, talking with a 3-4 year old, laughing with a baby, looking up at a blue sky, listening to your favorite music, realizing nothing stays the same, it's ok.

There's nothing more you can do now about the test, so just be happy it's over! smile
